Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations and help drive quality excellence across the business.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically advanced engineering projects while playing a key role in inspection, quality assurance, compliance and continuous improvement.
The Role
As a Quality Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving product quality across incoming inspection, in-process verification and final inspection activities.
Working closely with Production, Engineering, Procurement and Suppliers, you'll ensure products meet customer, regulatory and internal quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing process.
The role is primarily based in Droitwich, with occasional travel to supplier sites for inspections and quality activities.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate incoming, in-process and final inspection activities.
Carry out dimensional inspections using engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings and GA drawings.
Verify bolt torque, gasket selection, flow direction and product identification.
Coordinate NDT activities and review inspection reports.
Support inspectors to ensure consistent inspection standards across manufacturing.
Ensure products comply with engineering specifications, customer requirements and applicable industry standards.
Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including:
Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
Quality Plans
Inspection Checklists
Weld Maps
NCRs
Corrective Actions (CAPA)
Maintain material traceability, calibration records and welding documentation.
Produce manufacturing quality documentation including material certificates, pressure test records, FAT/SAT documentation and inspection reports.
Lead root cause investigations using 5 Whys, Ishikawa and structured problem-solving techniques.
Monitor quality performance, first-pass yield and defect trends to identify improvement opportunities.
Work closely with Design and Manufacturing teams to improve product quality and manufacturability.
Coach production teams on inspection standards, pressure testing, cleanliness and quality procedures.
Support customer and third-party inspections, managing witness and hold points professionally.
About You
You'll have previous experience within a mechanical or electromechanical manufacturing environment and be confident working with engineering drawings, inspection processes and quality management systems.
Essential
Previous experience as a Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Quality Engineer or Mechanical Quality Engineer.
Experience within mechanical engineering, fabrication, piping, modular plant or electromechanical manufacturing.
Strong understanding of engineering quality processes and inspection techniques.
Ability to read and interpret:
P&IDs
Isometric drawings
GA drawings
Electrical schematics
Experience with:
Welding quality standards (WPS/PQR/WPQR)
Material traceability
NDT processes
Pressure testing
Precision measurement equipment
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with production teams, suppliers and customers.
Desirable
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
Six Sigma Green Belt or Continuous Improvement training.
Experience with SPC, CAPA and Lean Manufacturing.
Knowledge of PED/UKCA, ASME B31.x, EN piping standards or pressure equipment regulations.
Familiarity with FAT/SAT testing, electrical testing, BMS or instrumentation systems.
