Hours of work - Term time only plus 2 days, 34 hours per week

Closing date - Monday 8th June @ 9am

Salary - National Living Wage initially, working up to a pro rata salary of £23,369 (FTE of £27,027)

Starting date - September 2026

RESPONSIBLE TO - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENCo)

Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join our educational team as an Aspiring Teaching Assistant. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience supporting children with diverse learning needs. The role is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in education, special education, or related fields. Successful candidates will work closely with qualified teachers and specialised staff to foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist classroom teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities tailored to individual student needs
Support children with special educational needs ensuring they feel included and supported
Get involved in creating inclusive activities and resources
Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance
Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment through positive behaviour support strategies
Provide one-to-one and group support for students who need additional help

We are Looking for Someone who is:

Friendly, positive attitude and a genuine interest in supporting in education
Willing to learn and take on new challenges
Committed to supporting students’ progress and wellbeing
Ready to be part of a dynamic team inspiring the next generation
Motivated, organised, and confident in taking on a variety of tasks and challenges
Willing to undergo enhanced DBS checks and any other pre-employment checks required
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries

Qualifications:

English and maths qualifications at GCSE grade 4/C or above, or equivalent
Willingness to undertake further training related to SEND and the UTC environment
Genuine interest in working with children, particularly those with special educational needs
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, teachers, and parents
Previous experience in tutoring or mentoring roles is advantageous
Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners
