Part-Time Groundskeeper — Woodland & Garden Estate
Job Summary
We are seeking a self-motivated Part-time Groundskeeper (2 days per week, 16 hours) to maintain a ten-acre estate, predominantly woodland, alongside garden areas. The role centres on brush cutting, bramble clearance, and log handling, with general garden upkeep. Equipment is provided; the successful candidate will be responsible for its ongoing maintenance and care. This is a hands-on, outdoor role suited to someone who can work independently and manage their own priorities.
Responsibilities
- Brush cutting and clearing brambles across woodland and garden areas
- Moving and handling logs, including using a winch
- General woodland maintenance and garden upkeep
- Weeding of garden beds and paths
- Routine inspection of grounds to identify areas needing attention
- Responsible for the ongoing cleaning, basic maintenance, and upkeep of estate-provided equipment (brushcutter and other tools) to keep it safe and functioning
- Working independently and self-directing tasks across the site with minimal supervision
- Keeping hard landscaping swept and neat and tidy
Skills & Experience
- Proven, confident experience operating a brushcutter (essential)
- Experience moving/handling logs, including winch use (essential)
- Chainsaw use is not required
- Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage time without close supervision
- Comfortable with physical outdoor work, including lifting and working on uneven/wooded terrain
- Practical, hands-on approach to basic equipment maintenance and repair
- Reliable, safety-conscious attitude when handling machinery
- Gardening or horticultural experience is a plus but secondary to woodland/brush management skills
