As we continue to deliver our critical decommissioning mission in a complex and evolving environment, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk Practitioner to join our Programme Management Office.

Are you someone who can turn uncertainty into informed decisions and help teams deliver with greater confidence?

This is an opportunity to join a small and dynamic team that plays an important role in supporting project and programme delivery across NRS. Working closely with the Head of Profession, Risk and the Lead Risk Practitioner, you will provide specialist advice and constructive challenge, helping to ensure a consistent, effective and continually improving approach to risk management.

Your work will directly influence how risks and opportunities are identified, assessed, managed and reported across the organisation. By partnering with project teams, sites and senior stakeholders, you will strengthen decision making, improve delivery confidence and support compliance with company standards, industry best practice and assurance expectations. It is a role that offers variety, visibility and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to NRS business priorities.

What will you be doing?

As a risk professional, you will work closely with project and site teams to help them understand and respond to uncertainty. Through risk workshops and day to day support, you will guide teams in identifying and assessing risks, developing effective mitigation strategies and applying quantitative risk analysis to determine appropriate contingency provisions.

You will also play an important role in developing risk management capability across the organisation. By providing coaching, mentoring and expert advice, you will encourage the adoption of best practice, support continuous improvement and help embed a strong risk management culture that contributes to successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering and assuring a compliant, effective and continuously improving risk management service across the NRS estate
Providing specialist expertise in quantitative risk analysis using tools such as Primavera Risk Analysis (PRA), Safran and P6
Facilitating risk workshops to identify threats and opportunities, improve risk management capability and support effective decision making
Supporting NRS participation in NDA and cross OpCo forums to share best practice, influence risk processes and promote innovative approaches

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a confident and knowledgeable risk management professional who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to influence, engage and develop others. Whether your experience has been gained through formal qualifications or extensive practical application, you will bring a proven track record of supporting successful project delivery within complex, highly regulated environments.

You will be comfortable translating complex risk information into clear, practical insights that support effective decision making. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience in project controls and quantitative risk analysis is important, as is a proactive approach to driving improvement and sharing knowledge with others.

You will ideally bring:

A relevant degree, professional qualification, such as the Institute of Risk Management, or equivalent practical industry experience
Significant experience in project controls and quantitative risk analysis within highly regulated or complex project environments
Hands on experience of SCQRA modelling techniques for contingency provisioning and working with risk and assumption databases
The ability to communicate complex information clearly and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels

Please note that the successful candidate must have unrestricted right to work in the UK and be located within a commutable distance of one of our NRS sites. The expectation is to work on site a minimum of two days per week. Our working hours are 07:30 to 17:00, Monday to Thursday, whether working on site or remotely. There will, however, be an opportunity to discuss flexible working arrangements during the interview process.
