General Yard Operative

Salary : £25K to 31K

Hours 7.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Every Saturday 7.30am to 12pm

Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated General Operative to join our team. As a General Operative, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support the smooth operation of our business.

About You:
If you’ve got a ‘can do’ attitude, you’re a good team player, you enjoy being ‘hands-on’, you have good customer service skills, and you enjoy working outdoors in a fast-paced environment. Then this role will be right up your street!

As a General Yard Operative, you will develop fundamental knowledge, skills, and expertise throughout your career. We will support you with all the training you need to be successful such as upskilling you to operate our plant. So, with the right attitude this will give you the opportunity to progress with your career within the business.

What You Will Be Doing:
This role has a variety of responsibilities to keep you busy throughout the day which includes how to handle and process end of life vehicles safely and compliantly.

Conducting regular checks on machinery and work areas to assisting customers and clients on site whilst offering excellent customer service. Whilst supporting depot management with day-to-day requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Recycling vehicles brought into the yard
- Conducting machine safety checks each day
- Ensure that travel routes are kept clean and tidy
- Reporting any issues to site manager
- Ensure vehicles are unloaded and stored in a safe and proper manner, when using a forklift
- Pick materials from a moving conveyor
- Sort waste and remove non-recyclable items & inspect items for any contamination

- Reporting any issues to the Manager

- Grading and weighing incoming materials to ensure quality

Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required
- Good communication and team working skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good attention to detail & spatial awareness
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed

- May be asked to work at various locations as and when required
