This exciting role is based at the vast Science and Innovation Park in Wroughton, working with the commercial and operations teams that manage the day-to-day functioning of the site, playing a pivotal role in delivering the growth of the Park.
The Park is a 545-acre multi-use site in the stunning Wiltshire countryside, and a vital part of the Science Museum Group’s work. At its heart is the Hawking Building, our world-class collection storage and access facility, where more than 400,000 objects - from microscope slides to railway carriages - and 1.5 million Library and Archives items are cared for and made accessible to the public. The building also welcomes around 15,000 visitors each year.
Beyond collections, the Park plays a key role in the Science Museum Group’s commercial and sustainability ambitions. It supports cultural sector storage, provides space for research and development projects, generates renewable energy, and contributes to biodiversity through tree planting, wildflower meadows and new habitat creation - all within a unique landscape rich in wildlife.
About the role
The Site Assistant plays a key role in the day-to-day running of the Park, providing practical, hands-on support to help deliver events, operational projects and wider site activity smoothly and safely. Working closely with the Commercial Delivery Manager and site teams, you’ll help plan, prepare and set up spaces for internal and external clients, coordinate logistics, and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
This is a varied, site-based role where no two days are the same. You may be moving, lifting and offloading items, welcoming clients, supporting event delivery, helping with photography for marketing, or contributing to planning sessions that shape future activity at the Park.
Whatever the day holds, this is a collaborative, busy and engaging role for someone who enjoys being part of a dynamic team.
As a valued member of the team, you’ll receive full training and development support, with opportunities to grow your career and take part in community activities such as our weekly running clubs and monthly quiz.
This is a 18-month fixed term contract, working 35 hours per week on site. As events are a key part of life at the Park, the role includes occasional cover for weekend and evening shifts. A full driving licence is essential, as you'll be driving our guests around the site as part of the role - a car is provided.
About you
We're keen to see applications from candidates who enjoy practical work, are great with people, and thrive on variety. This is a role where one day you might be driving guests around the Park, the next collecting deliveries or helping set up a space for an event - so we're looking for someone with plenty of get up and go, who's happy to muck in as part of a close-knit team and pick things up as they go along. You don't need to arrive knowing everything; full training and support will be provided, and much of your work will initially be guided by the team around you. What matters most is a positive, can-do attitude and a genuine commitment to great customer service.
You'll be comfortable engaging with a wide range of audiences - from visitors and VIPs to contractors and tenants - and comfortable switching between practical tasks and the administrative side of the role, such as record-keeping, check sheets and operational documents, using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and Outlook. Good organisational skills, good attention to detail and the ability to prioritise in a busy environment will all serve you well here. Finally, given the scale and rural setting of the Science and Innovation Park, a valid UK driving licence is essential - you'll be driving guests around the site as part of the role, with a vehicle provided.
