Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Geologist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in geological sciences, with expertise in data analysis, scientific research, and advanced geospatial technologies. The Senior Geologist will be responsible for leading geological investigations, analysing complex datasets, and providing strategic insights to support project development and decision-making processes.
Duties
- Lead and oversee geological field investigations, sampling, and data collection programmes.
- Analyse geological data using specialised software such as Python, ArcGIS, and QGIS to interpret subsurface conditions and mineral deposits.
- Develop detailed geological models and maps employing AutoCAD and GIS tools.
- Conduct scientific research to support exploration activities and environmental assessments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design exploration strategies and optimise resource extraction processes.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, technical papers, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
- Maintain laboratory experiments related to mineralogy or geochemistry as required.
- Utilise mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting during field operations.
- Support laboratory analysis procedures, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality control protocols.
- Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and resource management activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline; a Master's or PhD is preferred.
- Proven experience in scientific research, data analysis, and geological modelling.
- Proficiency in Python programming for data processing and automation tasks.
- Strong skills in GIS software including ArcGIS and QGIS for spatial analysis and mapping.
- Experience with AutoCAD for creating detailed geological drawings and plans.
- Laboratory experience related to mineralogy, geochemistry or similar fields is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to field equipment operation and maintenance is advantageous.
- Familiarity with horticulture principles can be beneficial for environmental impact assessments involving land rehabilitation projects.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills for preparing technical reports and liaising with clients or stakeholders effectively.

Pay: £55,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
