Job summary
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Equipment Library Assistant to join the Equipment Library team.
The Equipment Library Service provides loan management of commonly used electrical and mechanical medical equipment to wards and departments within Yeovil District Hospital and other healthcare locations.
The role is to assist in the provision of the equipment library and support service and the loan of specialist medical devices and equipment to assist in the care for patients across the Trust. This role involves processing and preparing key items of equipment and devices that have been returned to the Library. Devices are checked for cleanliness and correct operation before making them ready for patient use again. You will carry out equipment condition and functional checks; order, receive and re-charge spare parts as needed and maintain records of all equipment.
Based within the main hospital, you will visit various wards and departments to maintain equipment stock and storage areas.
Quality and safety are key drivers for the service, and you will be required to deliver a service to the highest standard. You will need an eye for detail to ensure equipment is always safe and records are up to date. Main duties, tasks & skills required
Assist in the development of a high quality and responsive Equipment Library service and assist with the receipt, processing and issuing of equipment, e.g. infusion devices, static & pressure relieving mattresses and bed frames . Duties include,
Collecting and return of Equipment for processing service or repair to all areas of the Hospital, Packing and dispatching equipment, Carry out cleaning/decontamination of equipment as required, Carry out equipment condition and functional checks, Order, receive and re-charge spare parts and materials, Maintaining manual and computerised record systems;
Communicating effectively and courteously with colleagues, external organisations and members of the public, Assisting with user training as required.
You will work closely with the Equipment Library Team and Supervisor, Medical Electronics department & Equipment Library teams, You wil be required to liaise with Clinical Teams & other trust staff support Patient care.
Participate in training as directed by the Equipment Library Team Leader. This would include training in cleaning techniques and mandatory training such as Fire Safety, Moving & Handing, COSHH, and Infection Control.
Carry out any other duties that may be required.
Where appropriate all training will be provided by the Trust.
