JOB ROLE: Data Analysis Specialist

Help Shape the Future of Rail

At Northern, we're investing in a better railway for the North. We're looking for a talented Data Analysis Specialist to join our Strategic Planning team and provide the insight that drives major investment decisions, business cases, and future rail development.

What You'll Do

Analyse operational, financial, customer, and revenue data to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
Develop forecasting models, business case appraisals, and analytical tools.
Create clear reports, dashboards, and visualisations using tools such as Power BI
Work with colleagues, government bodies, Mayoral Authorities, and industry partners to support rail investment opportunities.
Translate complex data into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Support the development of business cases for service improvements, infrastructure projects, and new rolling stock.

What We're Looking For

Degree in a quantitative subject such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
Experience using analytical tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, or R.
Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualisation platforms.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work with large datasets and present insights clearly to a range of audiences.
