Drax Unit 1 Outage – Pipe Fitter
Job Overview
The Pipe Fitter works onsite at the Drax Unit 1 outage to assemble, install, maintain, and repair piping systems and components. The Pipe Fitter reads plans and blueprints, prepares work areas, and ensures safe and high-quality workmanship throughout all stages of the outage project.
Key Duties
- Read and interpret piping diagrams, blueprints, and job specifications.
- Select, measure, cut, and thread pipes using hand and power tools.
- Install pipes, valves, and fittings by fitting and joining sections according to specifications.
- Secure pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures with brackets, clamps, and hangers.
- Test piping systems for leaks using pressure testing equipment.
- Disassemble and remove old or damaged piping and components.
- Inspect piping systems for defects and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance or corrective repair on piping systems.
- Work closely with supervisors and other trades to coordinate activities during the outage.
- Follow all safety procedures and use protective equipment.
- Keep the work area clean and organised during and after tasks.
- Accurately complete all required documentation related to work performed.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a pipe fitter or similar role within an industrial, power plant, or related environment.
- Strong knowledge of pipefitting techniques, materials, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Proficient with hand and power tools used for pipe cutting, threading, and fitting.
- Understanding of safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and position heavy materials and work in confined or elevated spaces.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications or apprenticeship in pipe fitting or mechanical trades preferred.
- Holds a valid CCNSG Safety Passport
- Valid right to work in the country where the outage is located.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and shift patterns as required by the outage schedule.

NAECI RATES £23.45ph + £2.37 IBA + site performance bonus

Mon - Thur 07:30-17:20
Fri 07:30 - 13:20
Sat 07:00 - 13:00
Sun 07:00 - 14:00
Nightshift - £29.66ph + £2.37 IBA + site performance bonus
Sun-Thurs 17:00 - 03:20
Fri 13:00 - 19:00
Overtime rates
Overtime A: £32.83 - is paid after 8hrs per day, and after 4hrs on a Saturday
Overtime B: £42.21 - is paid Saturday PM and all Sunday & Bank Holidays
Lodge allowance and Radius is available if you qualify.
