About The Role
We are seeking a proactive Accounts Manager to coordinate the day to day operation of our accounts function and ensure core finance processes are delivered accurately, efficiently and on time.
This is a hands on role combining transactional finance, payroll preparation, supplier payments, month end activities and the coordination of a small accounts team across a multi-company, multi-industry group. Working closely with senior management, you will help maintain strong financial controls, support day to day business operations and respond to the changing priorities of a growing organisation.
About You
You are organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of routine finance operations. You can prioritise competing workloads, coordinate the activities of others and work independently with minimal supervision.
The role would suit someone who enjoys improving processes, possesses strong technical accounting knowledge and wants to contribute beyond routine transactional processing. You will be confident working in a fast paced environment where initiative, accuracy and adaptability are valued.
Role Responsibilities
- Coordinate the day to day operation of the accounts function across multiple group companies
- Prepare payroll information and ensure payroll processes are completed accurately and on time
- Manage supplier payment runs and monitor cash payment schedules
- Oversee purchase ledger and sales ledger activities, providing guidance and support where required
- Assist with month end processes, reconciliations and financial close activities
- Review banking transactions and complete regular bank reconciliations
- Maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities
- Respond to finance related queries from colleagues, suppliers and customers
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and efficiencies within the finance function
- Support the implementation of new procedures and operational improvements
- Ensure finance deadlines are met while managing changing business priorities
- Undertake additional finance and administrative duties as reasonably required
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role with broad transactional responsibilities
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Experience preparing or coordinating payroll
- Experience processing supplier payments and managing banking activities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines
- Experience using QuickBooks Online or similar cloud-based accounting software
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads and work independently
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desired Criteria
- Previous experience coordinating or supervising an accounts team
- Experience working across multiple companies or business entities
- Experience supporting process improvement or systems development
- Recognised accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or substantial experience in a similar finance role
