Job Purpose
We are seeking compassionate and experienced SEN Teachers with a variety of subject specialisms to work with students who have special educational needs. This role involves providing specialised support, adapting teaching methods, and creating an inclusive learning environment to help SEN students thrive academically and personally. The SEN Teachers will collaborate closely with other educators, support staff, and parents to ensure that the individualised educational needs of SEN students are met effectively.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and regularly review Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) for each SEN student, in collaboration with the school’s SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
- Modify curriculum materials, teaching strategies, and assessments to cater to the unique learning needs and abilities of SEN students.
- Ensure planning is detailed, differentiated and meets the school’s expectations.
- Ensure the learning environment is attractive, positive and uncluttered.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students, regardless of their abilities, feel valued and can participate actively in learning.
- Teach a range of primary school subjects, including mathematics, English language arts, science, and social studies, while considering the specific needs of SEN students.
- Utilise various teaching methods, assistive technologies, and sensory approaches to make educational content accessible and engaging for SEN students.
- Provide personalised instruction, either one-on-one or in small groups, to address the unique learning requirements of SEN students.
- Continuously assess and track the academic and social progress of SEN students, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive support to SEN students.
- Maintain open and proactive communication with parents or guardians, discussing progress, challenges, and strategies for improvement.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies and create a structured and supportive learning environment.
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and regulations related to SEN education, including those related to Individualised Education Plans and assessments.

- Take responsibility for the pastoral care of children in your class.
- Co-ordinate and oversee the organisation of educational visits for your class, including risk assessments as appropriate.
- To provide challenging, realistic and achievable tasks resulting in maximum learning.
- Maintain assessment, planning, recording and reporting as agreed with the school.
- To participate and engage with the performance management process.
- To attend and participate in meetings and briefings which relate to the school’s curriculum, administration and organization.
- Participate in any additional training as required for your role.
- Familiarise yourself with and follow all Odyssey House School processes and procedures.
- To comply with any reasonable request from the leadership team to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified by this job description.

Pay: £30,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
