In a Nutshell…
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner to join our team within Vistry South London, at our locations across the region. As our Senior Planner, you will over live sites, tendering and the development of assistant/project planners.
Projects typically range from £60m to £200m and are often on restricted city centre sites that require a careful consideration of logistics and phasing.
We are pleased to say, this role could accommodate agile working arrangements in accordance with Vistry’s Agile Working Policy and subject to business need.

Methodical, imaginative and analytical thinker, with practical construction experience combined with sound knowledge of planning, programming and control processes

Must be able to demonstrate an ability to work harmoniously within a team of professionally qualified people and perform effectively and efficiently when working to demanding timescales

Candidate will most likely have several years practical on site experience combined with experience of tender stage planning and/or onsite planning within a developer / contracting organisation

Identify project constraints, critical resource requirements, and recommend time risk contingency allowances

Ensure compliance with business planning & control procedures

Input into contractual programme issues (Delay analysis, entitlement assessments etc.)

Excellent IT skills and relevant knowledge of Planning software including MS Project, Asta PowerProject and Primavera P6 (Noting Asta software will be used)

An excellent appreciation of the issues and challenges of developing and managing project programmes for residential building projects through all lifecycle stages.

An excellent knowledge of modern construction methods & techniques.

An excellent knowledge of the construction process from feasibility to handover.

A keen understanding of the importance of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality issues and a good awareness of relevant legislation

Excellent numeric skills and the ability to think analytically with proficiency in identifying sequence of operations for project delivery and representing these in a logically linked resourced programmes

Communicates clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; listens actively to others, asks questions to understand their needs; gives clear instructions; handles disagreements and conflict effectively. Ensures others fully understand the message being conveyed. Communicates their views & concerns openly, honestly and will constructively challenge others

Possesses good presentation skills and is able to present the methodology and programming aspects of a project in a manner appropriate to the target audience

Generates and applies new ideas; identifies alternatives to traditional methods; open minded and thinks outside of own area; encourages new ways of working; questions existing ways of doing things. Develop the accuracy of our forward planning and accurate forecast for project completion across the business

Creating, maintaining and reviewing programmes of work
-
Liaising with surveyors, engineers and architects and other applicable parties
-
Producing progress reports and forecasts for team members, clients and stakeholders
-
Meeting with contractors and suppliers as required
-
Completing tender bids, working with estimating teams and producing programmes/logistical diagrams and construction strategies
-
Managing several projects with the support of junior planners
-
Working between offices and construction sites
-
Provide weekly and monthly reports on progress against programme & input into the production progress reports as applicable
-
Acquire consistent and accurate data from project team and suppliers for measuring progress
-
Participate in the communication of the programme to the production team to ensure they understand the constraints, risks and issues
-
Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to organise the phases of the construction development
-
Planning contingency programmes in case timeframes change
-
Creating, maintaining and reviewing programmes of work
-
Producing progress reports and forecasts for team members, clients and stakeholders
-
Liaising with managers and engineers to discuss the progress of the project and address any issues that arise
-
To be an integral member of the team providing a planning & programming service to a portfolio of residential projects in all stages of the project lifecycle
-
Provide a structured approach in the development and management of the project time model, including providing advice on appropriate phasing strategies and construction methods, identification of constraints, risks and other issues

Utilise all available expertise within the organisation and the supply chain to develop the most innovative solutions and opportunities for the project

Manage and co-ordinate the programme information from 3rd parties – client, consultants, suppliers etc

Develop and communicate the optimum project time model through all phases of the proposed project including planning, design, procurement, pre-construction, construction, commissioning, handover and occupation

Proactively seek data and learning experience from current and past projects to inform & challenge of new programmes
