About the role:
To lead and manage the day-to-day operations of a grocery & wholesale retail outlet ensuring strong sales performance, excellent customer service, effective stock control and full compliance with food safety and company standards.
Key Responsibilities: (This list is not exhaustive)
People: Manage all People related matters in a professional and positive manner.
Store Operations : Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling. . Oversee daily store operations to ensure efficiency, cleanliness and safety.. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health & safety and licensing regulations.. Maintain store layout, merchandising standards and promotional displays. Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance documentation.
Key Performance Indicators Sales growth and revenue targets. Customer satisfaction scores. Staff productivity and retention. Inventory accuracy and cost control. Compliance with operational standards.
Sales & Performance: Drive sales growth and margin performance in line with budgets and targets Monitor KPIs including turnover, gross profit, shrinkage, waste, and labour costs.. Implement promotional activities and seasonal plans.. Analyse sales data and adjust ordering, pricing, and staffing accordingly.
Stock & Supply Chain Management: Control stock levels, ordering, receiving, and rotation. Minimise shrinkage, wastage, and stock loss.. Manage supplier relationships and resolve delivery or quality issues.. Ensure accurate stock counts and stocktaking processes are adhered too.
People Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise store staff.. Set clear expectations and monitor individual and team performance.. Motivate staff to deliver high levels of customer service.. Handle disciplinary issues, absence management, and staff development.
Customer Experience: Always ensure a high standard of customer service.. Resolve customer complaints professionally and promptly. Build strong relationships with key wholesale customers. Ensure product availability and quality meet customer expectations.
Qualifications and Experience (Desirable)
- Qualifications: BSc or diploma in business Management
- 3 years + experience in retail management (grocery, food, or wholesale preferred)
- 3 years + Experience managing teams and store budgets
- Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g. HACCP)
- Basic IT skills (POS systems, stock management, reporting tools)
