Full job description

About the role:

You will join our Technical Support team who are jointly responsible for maintaining the organisations network and infrastructure within the office spaces, as well as our stores across UK, Ireland, and Benelux estate. The tech support function work closely with the core verticals inside of the IT Operations division Including the retail division to conduct essential triage, troubleshooting, and seeing problems through to resolution of our second-line support tickets as well as our store network estate during outages. We precisely conduct and execute project tasks handed down from our third-line project teams.

Holland and Barrett are on a mission to transform our retail estate with an incredibly ambitious store refit program over the following year. This means your attention to detail on the network infrastructure, excellent communication skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks will be essential to guarantee smooth delivery of any projects along with desktop BAU work.

What you'll be doing:

Key Responsibilities:

Handle escalated technical issues from 1st line support, involving hardware, software, networking, and system configurations.

Utilise diagnostic tools and technical expertise to analyse and resolve issues efficiently.

Work closely with engineering, development, and IT teams to escalate and resolve complex issues.

Manage, track, and prioritise incidents using a ticketing system, ensuring that service-level agreements (SLAs) are met.

Create and maintain documentation for troubleshooting steps, known issues, and technical solutions to aid in future resolutions.

Conduct thorough root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of issues and recommend long-term solutions.

Provide high-quality customer support through various channels such as email, phone, and chat, ensuring a positive customer experience.

Conduct and maintain regular stock count of IT equipment both in-house and external.

Ensure compliance with internal processes, data security policies, and best practices.

Responsible for all network related day-to-day BAU incidents and requests, along with any projects related to the role.

Maintain a stock inventory of available deployed stock, with auditability of asset locations using asset database.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to desktop/network/infrastructure deployed, including checklists and timelines while ensuring any issues encountered are promptly resolved.

Configure and optimise network devices, including but not exclusive to, Cisco Meraki routers, UniFi and Meraki switches, APs and firewalls. Propagate VLAN configuration, identify routing protocols.

Monitor network and infrastructure performance, availability, and security using network monitoring tools in an advanced second line function. Proactively identify and resolve variety of issues, including connectivity problems, and vulnerabilities.

Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organisations data and infrastructure. Configure and manage firewall policies, VPNs, and other security technologies.

Create and maintain accurate documentation with SOPs (standard operating procedures) while ensuring all documentation is kept up-to-date and accessible to the Tech Support Leadership team.

Collaborate and share knowledge with IT teams, such as systems administrators and store colleagues to ensure optimal performance of the network IT infrastructure in our retail estate.

Collaborate with suppliers and vendors for support and issue resolution. Collaborate with third party vendors/engineers to maintain uptime of store network.

Our team is permanently based at the Holland & Barrett (Nuneaton) Head Office. However, on occasion duties may require travel to stores nationwide, to assist with delivery of network infrastructure.

Key requirements:

Strong background in 1st/2nd line technical support.

CCNA or previous networking experience.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple high priority incident tickets simultaneously.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

Attention to detail, with an emphasis on both accuracy and quality.

Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to evolving circumstances.

Proficiency in service management tools and software. (Jira/Confluence).

Ability to work proactively and independently to take ownership of tasks, as well as equally collaborating with the wider team.

Flexibility to travel and the ability to work extended hours where necessary.

Transferable skills from other Service based, Technical Project or Technical disciplines.

Experience with Retail Systems, POS and peripheral troubleshooting.
