Summary
We are seeking a skilled Freelance Interpreter to facilitate clear and accurate communication between parties in various settings. This role offers flexible working arrangements, allowing you to utilise your language expertise across diverse industries, including healthcare, legal, business, and community services. The ideal candidate will possess excellent linguistic skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to adapt to different contexts with professionalism and discretion. This paid position provides an opportunity to work independently while contributing significantly to effective cross-cultural communication.

Duties

Provide real-time interpretation services during meetings, conferences, legal proceedings, medical appointments, or other events requiring bilingual communication.
Accurately translate spoken language from source to target language, maintaining the original tone and intent.
Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant terminology or subject matter as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards at all times.
Collaborate with clients and organisations to understand specific interpretation requirements and preferences.
Manage scheduling of appointments and assignments independently, ensuring timely delivery of services.
Keep records of completed assignments for billing and professional development purposes.
Stay updated on industry-specific terminology and cultural nuances relevant to your languages of expertise.

Experience

Proven experience as a freelance interpreter or in a similar role involving live interpretation.
Fluency in at least two languages recognised by relevant accreditation bodies; additional languages are advantageous.
Strong understanding of cultural contexts related to the languages spoken.
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret accurately under pressure.
Previous experience working with specialised terminology in fields such as healthcare, legal, or technical environments is desirable.
Ability to work independently with excellent organisational skills and reliability.
Professional certification or accreditation from recognised interpreting bodies is preferred but not essential. This position offers flexible hours suitable for individuals seeking part-time or supplementary work, with the opportunity to expand your professional portfolio while supporting meaningful communication across diverse communities.

Pay: £24.00-£28.00 per hour
