THE ROLE
We are looking for a confident and guest-focused Duty Manager to join our passionate and vibrant team, available to start immediately.
This is a predominantly Front of House and Reception-led role, ideal for an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in a guest-facing environment and takes pride in delivering seamless, luxury experiences from the moment a guest walks through the door to the moment they check out.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Front of House & Reception Operations
- Act as the face of the hotel, leading by example on the front desk and throughout all guest-facing areas
- Oversee the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of Reception, ensuring all arrivals, departures and in-house guests receive a warm, personalised and professional service
- Manage room allocations, upgrades and special requests, ensuring every guest’s stay is tailored to their individual needs
- Handle guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently, maintaining accuracy across all billing and reservation records
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest queries, complaints and special requirements, resolving issues with empathy and efficiency
- Ensure SLH Club member reservations and associated benefits are recognised and delivered consistently at every touchpoint
- Monitor the daily movement of the hotel, anticipating busy periods and coordinating with all departments to maintain seamless operations
- Conduct thorough handovers at the start and end of each shift, ensuring the team is fully briefed on VIPs, arrivals, departures and any outstanding matters
- Support the seamless guest journey between hotel Reception and KIN by Gary Maclean, ensuring all restaurant reservations, special requests and dining experiences are communicated and coordinated effectively
- Act as a key point of contact between the KIN FOH team and wider hotel operations, upholding the same standards of warm, attentive and refined service that define both the restaurant and The Roseate Edinburgh
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, support and motivate the Front of House and Reception team during shifts
- Lead and conduct reception training, coaching team members to uphold the hotel’s luxury service standards
- Prepare and manage monthly rotas for the department, uploading schedules to hotel systems in a timely manner
- Communicate hotel values, standards and culture to all team members
- Support new starters through induction and on-the-job training
- Conduct regular floor walks and public area checks to ensure presentation, cleanliness and service standards are consistently maintained
- Liaise with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance and all other departments to ensure smooth daily operations
- Handle and document all incidents, accidents and maintenance issues in line with hotel policy
- Oversee night operations where required, ensuring the safety and security of guests, team members and the property
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Previous experience in a Front of House or Reception role within a luxury or boutique hotel is essential
- Previous supervisory or duty management experience is highly desirable
- Familiarity with hotel property management systems (PMS)
- Knowledge of the SLH Club loyalty programme and its guest benefits is an advantage
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to remain calm, decisive and solutions-focused under pressure
- Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and public holidays

ELIGIBILITY
You must be eligible to live and work in the UK to apply for this position. In line with the requirements of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must hold documented evidence of their right to work in the UK. This will be required as part of the recruitment process.
Pay: £31,000.00 per year
