If you love music and are passionate about instruments, then you will love your direct colleagues. They are like-minded, good-hearted people and will make your life easier where possible. Teamwork in this sense is very strong. Getting to see the latest instruments is an added bonus and your work has the potential to look slick and reach a large audience. Staff discount is satisfactory.

Management is unprofessional, arrogant, rude, pervasive and does not take feedback. They introduced excessive micromanagement as a result of a downturn in sales and a way to find scapegoats in the company. 

This is not an ideal pathway into the music industry. There is little interaction with professional musicians or externals in the industry unless you have a very specific role working directly with the major shareholder.

Personal development offered by the company is severely lacking. They did not provide further training opportunities. They also do not pay England's average wages for roles, despite being based in one of the most expensive places to live outside London.

Disgusting treatment of staff. Unfortunately they will always have musicians to work there because of the local music college but it's a horrible place to work. In general the shop floor staff are nice with a few exceptions but that happens everywhere, it's the management where the real issues lie. There are 3 partners, one which is the face of the business and doesn't even know the names of the staff they employ, and two others which do the hiring, pay roll, hr, basically everything and are truly the most unapproachable human beings I've had the misfortune to work with. They have no understanding of mental health and the pressure that they put on their staff is enough to make anyone unwell. Being made to sat in a room being sworn at and in front of is nothing that any member of staff should have to endure. 

The only thing I enjoyed about my time at Andertons were some of the staff members - these tend to be young muso types so very friendly but inexperienced in much else.

This recruiting style has created a situation where nice people are preyed upon by career managers and an infamous villain partner who is well known throughout the industry as one of the worst people to work for.

Guildford is one of the most expensive places to live in the UK, and Andertons pays barely above the minimum wage because they can get away with it as "it's music".

If you are reading this - do yourself a favour - don't believe the hype, find a better job with better prospects because you deserve more than to be treated like trash by these lot.

A truly enjoyable company to work for, but the viability of Andertons as a place to build a career is limited by the low pay ceiling of staff within the store, which I personally find to be far too low for the kind of skilled labour they expect to attract.

Terribly abusive management. I was treated very poorly, called names and in no way felt valued. Store seems to have a very high level of staff turnover due to this reason alone. General staff and customers are lovely. 

Staff are well supported by management and the atmosphere amongst co-workers is  great.

Would strongly recommend working here for those looking to get into a sales role if you have a passion for music and knowledge of instruments and pro-Audio.

An awful place run by a dictatorial managing director.
Ridiculous pay, no incentives, no support, insane demands by exploitative management bullies insulting the staff in front of clients on the shop floor.
A mental asylum.

Good, but they need to consider and give more opportunities to the workers in areas different than the ones they were hired for, but in which they can contribute more...

Check emails, do some quality assurance on backlog of tickets.
Write Quality assurance plans for other coworks to use
