From my experiences and those of my colleagues too:

- Let me make it clear that your manager will throw you in the deep end as soon as possible with the absolute minimum of training and support. This seems to be the company’s general attitude to supporting their colleagues.
- You’ll get told to “deal with it” a lot especially if you ask managers for support.
- Management is slow to respond to any issues unless it’s against someone they dislike.
- Managers have a “I am the Boss” entitled attitude.
- They will try to pass on manager-specific daily tasks onto Rental Sales Agents or Customer Service Reps and will throw a strop when you say no but can’t do anything because they can’t make you do their job for them so rely on your ignorance and fear of reprisals.
- I’ve seen managers talk to and treat their drivers and staff like trash.
- Managers will come into work late and leave early but if you come in 10 mins late one day and stay back 10 mins at the end of your shift you’ll still get deducted. They will also disappear for hours on break.
- Overtime and even normal work hours are most times not paid properly as managers have total control of the Kronos system that controls hours worked and thus pay and you’ll have to chase this up which sometimes takes months for it to be rectified properly.
- You’ll be required to finish late one day and start early the next and whole weekends off are RARE! No such thing as work/life balance unless you’re a manager and can take advantage of the rota.
- Teammates and I have worked 11 days straight because of how the manager has structured the rota. 
- The more you do then more they’ll keep giving you.
- Pressure to sell at every opportunity during a customer checkout. Everything from ‘upgrading your car’, getting the expensive ‘Complete Protection’ (insurance), GPS/WiFi units etc
- I was expected to get business leads and even cold call companies to get leads (managers job)
- Too often you’ll have more bookings than cars and absolutely no cars available to fulfil bookings in your region but not allowed to cancel pre-payed bookings.
- Unprofessional friendships in store meaning that bullying and general horrid behaviour wasn’t challenged or resolved by management.
- The online training is boring, takes way to long and poorly structured.
- Staff below manager level are seen and treated as expendable or replaceable. 
- The work hours are not flexible but you are expected to be.
- Unfair treatment and hypocrisy.
- Expectations to learn a old complicated computer system  but now there’s a new system is which finally more modern and up to date but more unreliable.
- The physical equipment they provide isn’t reliable and is prone to issues sometimes simple but most times harder to resolve.
- customers get charged for damage that doesn’t get repaired. 
- You only get a paid 20 minute break despite working a full 8 hour day. 
- I’ve seen managers being unfairly dismissive of customers and letting their power get to their head.
- HR dept is slow to respond to requests (I.e bereavement policy etc) that’s if you can even get through to them
- You’ll be collating reports every single day either in the morning or the evening which consumes reams and teams of paper per week.
- Uniform is ugly and fits poorly despite ordering the correct size.

Positives

- RSAs / CSRs and driver in my sister location and my own were mostly good people.
- You can meet really nice  customers sometimes and make their day better
- Sometimes drive decent cars

My previous company was taken over by Avis and I've never been so disappointed with how things turned out. My line manager (who I love, in and outside work -she and my team were the only thing that has kept me here) unfortunately went off sick for several months. I felt our team was left with no proper onsite support, we had little to no training before this time and during and were basically abandoned at our existing site which was put under construction. We were left in some of the most appalling conditions and were completely ill equipped to deal with problems or complaints. When Avis took us over, it was full of false promises and I basically feel lied to. I do feel like I have been pushed out since the takeover. My mental health has taken a massive hit and it has made me doubt myself of my abilities.

They have people leaving left, right and centre because there is no training in place for new starts (they don't even have the basics of a training manual) and a complete lack of support at new sites, which shouldn't have even been opened as they're not ready for staff or customers.

Avis need to have a serious look at their business plan, training protocols and staffing. Be expected to work in a fast paced environment, with fleet issues, limited support, system issues, long hours and unhappy customers.

If I had adequate training from the takeover, I potentially could have seen myself staying in rental for another few years. However, my motivation and respect for this company has completely gone and I have decided to move into another field, where I'll have the training and respect I deserve.

Unfortunately for a company as large as ABG there is absolutely no structure to the company management which often leads to a number frankly embarrassing scenarios.

On the average day at work you will spend most of your time collating the same information in a number of formats to send reports to a number of senior managers. When you are actually serving customers you often find yourself without the tools to complete your job as cars a few and far between because other branches would rather keep them for "upsell" figures.

The team in the branches tend to be very good people who it is enjoyable to work with, however you can often find a lack of professionalism as a result. 

Whilst I was at the company although I worked in a branch that was described as the "largest non airport location outside of London" that did not stop me having seen a total of 4 branch managers (the shortest serving 11 days) most of whom had no idea what the responsibilities of the role were or how to even rent a car, let alone manage a team of people renting cars. A number of team members were often overlooked for progression despite having up to 10+ years experience and being left to manage branches during interim periods between managers and the rest did not want the position as there were no incentives to do the additional work load.

My experience and knowledge provides in depth skills of online marketing as I have been developing these through two global brands for 5 years.

As a project lead and by building strong relationships and working closely with digital agencies, local countries and in house colleagues I have launched a number of successful projects including a new Natural Search Optimisation (SEO) accounts

I have also led the expansion of the E-marketing campaigns focusing in personalisation, targeting and segmentation of the database to provide relevant communications. Other areas in which I also specialise in are; Pay per Click (PPC) and Campaign tracking management and implementation. With the industry being highly competitive I am always looking for new technology, which can be used to ensure the online leadership of the brand is maintained.
The Pan-European travel industry has allowed me to gain strong knowledge in consumer behaviour and trends. By understanding these, a strong strategy can be built and delivered even when new and unexpected challenges can be faced; for example economic climate.

Working in a global company has provided me with the understanding of the differences in cultures and behaviours and how situations need to be approached at an individual level. This is the same when I am working with peers at all levels, from student placements to Directors.

The pandemic brought to light how little Avis Budget Group care/value there staff. They quickly got rid of most, i survived the cull and wish I hadn’t. My work load along with the small amount of us left was expected to be the same and more as before when we had a full team. They advertise progression, trust me from years of promises and smashing my goals and being in the top percent of agents UK wide, the progression is simply not there. ABG have a culture of put sourcing there management. Some of the managers are good, most are “its all about me” i often wondered how some even managed to dress themselves in the morning let alone run an airport branch… my direct store manager was good, understanding and reasonable. The wages use to be good but again the pandemic seems to of given companies an excuse to effectively “do what they want”. You are expected to work in a busy airport location alone and still to take the brunt on the complaints when in reality, i am only one person and i cant serve a queue of customers and clean there cars in 2 separate locations at the same time. I placed a flexible working request which was in rejected with little to no reasoning. In the end i had no choice but to resign. If i am honest its the best thing i done leaving. Which is odd to say as it was once a great place to work, its quite sad really. 

A company set in its ways and completely resistant to change for the better. Horrible environment in the UK head office (Bracknell) with poor, ineffectual leadership, with the exception of one very senior male leader who is amazing (and I'm not referring to the outgoing leader of international). Hierarchical.

It's a slacker's paradise. Hard working professional people with integrity have to put up with under-performers who go unchallenged and have done for years. As (some good) people leave, they aren't replaced and the work stacks up for those who are known for getting things done. 

Recruitment takes forever because the good candidates don't take the job offers, OR they come for a bit and then leave when they realise how bad it is and how no amount of effort they put in will make any difference. There is no genuine appetite to modernise or  improve. 

Employee engagement is really low. They invest heavily in the annual jolly for senior leaders but scrimp on everything else. The employee app cost a small fortune but was then dribbled out without any real effort to make it a success. All the good advice was ignored. 

There are some brilliant people who deserve a brighter future but they will need to go elsewhere to find it.

From the first day i started i was immediately thrown in the deep end and was working the desk solo within 6 weeks despite never receiving any actual training. The training course i did attend covered nothing about the day to day and instead focused on how to bleed money from customers by "upselling" cars and pointless cover to them. The drivers, who are on zero hour contracts, are treated like garbage. Lunch breaks are a luxury. Finishing on time is a rarity. Overtime is barely paid as they use kronos for time management which can be altered by management to make it appear as though you left on time. In 6 months 14 drivers 4 sales agents and 2 assistant managers left my branch which never had enough staff to cover shifts and holidays. A lack of cars and a non turndown policy for corporate clients meant prepaid customers were often left without vehicles and guess who gets shouted at. The list goes on but i strongly recommend to avoid, particularly if you have morals.

The job was enjoyable learned alot always busy none stop.  Learnt alot in the job when I was there.

 Has a Valeter/ Driver at Avis & Budget Car Rental, we are checking vehicles in and carefully inspecting vehicles for damage before and after hire, Ensuring the paperwork is completed correctly and signed by the customer, Ensuring vehicles are clean, tidy and ready on time,Checking and reporting damage , Cleaning and polishing cars,Ensure that the radio is turned off and the volume is low for when the customer uses this,Ensure that the water & oil levels etc are checked and adjusted if so required,Ensure Tyres are checked for damage, wear and that they are correctly inflated,Reporting any damage to vehicles to the Branch Manager or branch staff,Ensure any lost property items found in vehicles are handed over to manager or frontline staff,Ensure all vehicles are left locked when unattended. Keys should be kept in a secure place at all times, Taking vehicles to other branches and airports and Ensure that all vehicles are presented in the correct manner when parking in ready bays.

A typical workday is coming in and not having a clue of the job . I was put there and was given very vague instructions on what the job was about . I inherited a mess from the previous employee and was expected to clean it up in a short period of time . I was given a desk , a password to the computer and everything I was doing I was learning as I was going along . No training , no instructions, no nothing . I had over 30 years of working in municipal fleet operations and dealt with and found solutions to many problems. This location is severely understaffed, the information you need to effectively do your job is nonexistent. I had no clue of the operations or where how and why . Management is only concerned with numbers . 
The hardest part of the job is coming into work each day optimistic that things will get better , only to find that the more you try to make sense of this position, the further in the hole you get . You will be given unrealistic expectations 
The best part of the job was resigning. I was told that this position was a revolving door and I can see why .
