Bath-Rugby

I worked at Bath Rugby Club for just under a year. At first it was a very friendly and rewarding place to work. I helped out with match days, functions and various events that were held at the Recreation Ground. I worked extremely hard in the role; making myself available for every shift that I could possibly attend, including early morning beer deliveries. I soon came to realise that the job was very unrewarding, which was primarily down to the very poor management at the club. The managers were very rude to staff and were often abusive on stressful days and were clearly not trained in effective management techniques. The positives from the job were the various benefits such as making many friends and also being able to see matches for free during breaks in my shifts.

My typical day at Bath Rugby would involve setting up of the dining rooms and making sure all stock is managed in the stock rooms to check that nothing is missing that may be needed. Then once customers start to come in I would start to serve food at the catering table. Before the game starts and people start to leave the lounge we would then start to clear tables and tidy away everything from the room. Finally, during the game and until the end of our shift we tend to clear away any leftovers and also polish all the cutlery used during the day.

Each day was spent working at the various bars around the stadium, either in the tents, main building or in the box areas.

I learnt most bar work skills and how to use a till. I also learnt to provide everything the customer wants with the highest standard possible. 

The management were friendly and extremely capable. They learnt my name from day one and were flexible and understanding with any issues brought up. 

The co workers ranged from people the same age as me to i around 20 years older than me, everyone was friendly and worked well in a team.

A typical day can get quite hectic but a great work experience. With great people to work with. I have learned how to waitress properly and how to present everything i do. The management can get quite busy but its still a great place to work, my co-workers are really helpful and I can turn to them for advice whenever needed. The hardest part of my job is cleaning up afterwards as everyone gets tired and start to complain, but the most enjoyable would be working with my co-workers and learning and making new experiences.

I worked part time as bar staff on match days; the team and management were great and you had excellent benefits such as free food on shift and free hot drinks (which came in handy on the chillier days), they also used to give us hand warmers and the management genuinely care about the staff. The shifts were very flexible as you put in when you could work so it's very ideal for people who want a little extra income on the side or for students. In regards to training, they provided in depth training.

I'll never forget my time here! I loved it so much! Everyone here is great and makes for a memorable and enjoyable working experience! I've made friends for life and gave me all the time and flexibility I needed to develop my own personal skills! A fab job with 0 hours to flexibly suit my  wider goals! Would not only come back time and time again, but I'd also highly recommend anyone!

One of the best physical spaces to work in at Farleigh house but man do they hold it as a reason to stay. The internal culture is initially friendly and welcoming but soon you see the Cult inside of this culture, a self appreciation society that spends more time slapping itself on the back for mediocrity than actually looking to excel. If you don't fit in with the 2 faced crowd you will not succeed. 

On a typical day at work, you have a lot of fun with the people you work with and it’s great to support the bath rugby team. Working on the bars has meant that I’ve learned how to communicate with people effectively to make sure everything runs smoothly.

As casual bar staff I enjoy working at Bath Rugby, the team that manages the bar staff are genuinely nice friendly people and seem to care about their staff.  You do have to be proactive and use your initiative as the role is very busy but there is support available.  A nice place to work with a good vibe. 

The atmosphere at Bath Rugby was really comfortable, being casual work where everyone got on. There was much room for progression to supervisor and manager roles, as well.
A downside of this kind of work is it wasn't regular enough because shifts came with events at the ground, which happened every one to two weeks.
