Working for Boden is miserable. Some of the staff as really nice people but those ones are unhappy because they cannot get through to the senior management team, who don’t listen to anything anyone has to say, take on work they cannot deliver, and put pressure on staff to achieve the impossible standards. They create bonus schemes with no intention of paying a bonus to anyone and use loop holes to get out of it. They don’t appreciate the current staff and advertise  jobs at a higher salary ( when you interview they will only ever offer you less) but it kills the moral of current staff, we buy our own materials because the commercial and purchasing team question everything we buy or every job, they don’t trust us when we say we need something for a job, we get asked who why where for something as little as ten pounds and then we get it thrown back at us when we can’t do a job in time. They won’t even buy decent work boots, the vans they have always have issues and breakdown, they make you provide your own tools and if you damage them when working for them they won’t replace them, they have lost a lot of good staff who can’t take it anymore. The commercial team don’t think about the bigger picture in anything and seem to run the company, no mangers have any say in anything to help the staff, the senior manager ( there are 2 but one makes all the decisions) is rude and doesn’t talk to staff or acknowledge us, and definitely doesn’t trust his qualified saff 

The company is completely out of its depth and allows its self to be bullied by the main contractor, they have no regard for their workforce and have no experienced management or supervisors on hand instead they rely on a team of inexperienced managers in Barnstable to make decisions , they use the cheapest of cheap materials and place ridiculous timescales on tasks. There are girls working in admin rolls that try their best but are not brilliant, however this is not their fault as they try but their hands are tied the site supervisors that are there are all yes men and don’t really care about their staff and are only trying to look good to the bosses by sucking up to them.

There is a complete lack of strategy and direction within this company.  Staff are expected to work long hours with no recognition, are given almost no support and a blame culture exists. Promises of help iand support are given by senior management and directors, but never carried through, and so there is no trust in them.  
Many directors, senior managers, project managers, engineers and admin support staff have left in the past year, such is the feeling within the company.
With little over a year left on their main contract, bonus payments have been slashed, pay increases stalled, promised infrastructure withdrawn, and budgets reduced. Staff are overworked, employee satisfaction is very low,  and subsequently moral is at rock bottom.

Overall working for BFG is a mixed bag. On one hand the office environment (where I work is brilliant), however the same can not be said for the rest of the business. 
Month on month we cover the same issues with nothing learnt. 
There is absolutely no opportunity for progression or training development. Salary is considerably below expectation, with again no room for development or progression. 

Management are generally out of their depth, preferring to succumb to head office posturing rather than deal with the issue at hand. 

The hardest part of the job is starting the day, knowing your efforts are completely unappreciated.

Boden is a great place to work and I would recommend it to anyone. My role is enjoyable and I am given the support I need, while still being given the freedom to work as is best for me. All of my colleagues are very friendly, supportive and always willing to help. I feel like my role really matters and my ideas are listened too. The company truly values people's opinions and there are a number of great initiatives, like 24 hours to make a difference, which you can take part in.

I worked for the company for 4 years during which the company had to undertake several changes due to contract changes which sadly resulted in redundancies  for staff. This meant lots of change but also provided lots of opportunities for the right people. I always felt listened too and that I could make a difference. Work life balance is a driver of the company which is good. Money is competitive but not at the top end.

Excellent place to work, I love my job and I get to work with people who value what I do for them and the business. The management and leadership team listen and effect the necessary changes. Over the last 12 months there has been a number of positive changes in HR policies/procedures, new employee benefits implemented and a Group wide Employee Assistance Programme - all really helpful additions to the total package for working for Boden.

The people and the professionalism. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing is stressful, quite happy. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very modern and switched on. We all help each other. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Flexible hours, as long as I complete 40 hours per week. Large scale systems and plant rooms, in modern universities and stadiums. Service and maintenance.

Spent less than six months working for them after Tupeeing from another firm and found them useless then.
I gave them the benefit of doubt  when I saw my old position advertised 4 years later and arranged an interview.
I Was told that the salary being offered was less than  what I was being paid, when I left 4 years. Then they didn't even have the decency to me to say I was uunsuccessful in my application.
Probably missed a bullet, to be honest. No wonder that they cant keep staff.
