I am current employee of the school and have worked here for almost 10 years. I have previously worked in two other London schools. To be honest, this place is vastly different to the other schools. There is a strong culture of high expectations of students and staff. I find it particularly refreshing that poor staff performance is not tolerated. In the other schools I have worked in, staff absences was common and there were lots of agency staff. As a result, behaviour of students were poor as was student achievement. No surprise that both schools are in special measures and have been turned into academies.
At Brampton, good staff performance is rewarded and promotion prospects are very good. I will quite happily retire here as long as the senior leaders maintain the high standards. Colleagues that have left to other schools have realised that the grass isn't greener where they are - they all regret it and want to come back! Good luck

Typical day starts by ensuring you are on time for work every day because if you are late for whatever reason, you will be put on a list and have to explain why you are late - even if it is one minute late due to an emergency. They will also deduct lateness time from your salary without telling you.

The culture is severely stressful and unsupportive. 

Turnover is so high, that you are often drafted in to teach other subjects to help cover lessons as recruitment and retention are huge issues here. 

If you are off sick, don't expect to be paid, if your child is ill or there is a family emergency, you won't get paid. You don't get paid for funerals.  They will not pay you for this.

Overall a very toxic place to work, do your research before applying to work here.


For the most part some people in this SLT are alright, they are compassionate understanding human beings as the role criteria should be. But on the other hand some individuals exhibit the complete opposite, and are obdurate, stubborn and highly egotistical. For privacy and to observe confidentiality, no names will be mentioned but a key example of this comes down to the current head of sixth form as in the 23/24 cohort. This individual was not selected for the large role at hand, but selfishly volunteered when no one else did (after departure of previous head) and has since done a poor job in the role. 
Credit where due, not all the staff are like this but corrupt staff like this bad mouth the entire department.


Brampton is a great school to teach at. I have been working here for 5 years, and through those years I have felt that the school has a real place in its community and a vision to improve the lives of those who attend the school. I think that the support put in place for me as a NQT was excellent, and I owe a lot of my practice and success to my mentors in driving me forward. The students who attend here are the best part of the school. Their behaviour is excellent, and they are polite and always keen to do well.  As a young teacher that certainly did make my life a lot easier, and allowed me to actually teach passionately about my subject, rather than have to continuously control behaviour. 

Please do not work here. The Senior Leadership Team are horrible toxic people who do not treat staff like human beings. This is the reason for the incredibly high staff turnover. Staff morale is incredibly low and people are desperate to get out. Policies are awful, for example no pay when you are sick or go for an interview elsewhere. They even force people to hand in their notice when they haven't even found another job. If you value your mental health please avoid this school. There are far better places to work.

The policies are just awful. I only got 5 days off when a close loved one passed away...it’s terrible, and that’s just the beginning. I left this place because the culture was stressful and toxic. I was treated inhumanely and felt bullied into doing extra work to get tasks done. I would wake up in the middle of the night feeling anxious, and I didn’t get any support from those above me.

There is no sense of community at this school, and I’m glad I left and found a school which treats its staff much better than this. This school puts results over the health of the teachers, and that’s why so many go and the naive come.

I am so proud to be part of this school that has been transformed into a centre of excellence through effort and determination. All aspects of the school from the buildings, behaviour of students and the quality of teaching have been improved massively. As a result, students are achieving stunning outcomes and it is the most popular school among parents. What I really like is that despite all these achievements, the leaders and especially the Headteacher is not complacent, constantly reminding us that our best days are still ahead of us. What an inspiration!

Without any doubt, this is the best school in Newham. I have been at the school for nearly 11 years and the change is unbelievable. The students are so well behaved now and staff absence is not like it used to be. It’s so difficult to get your child into the school now because it’s so popular with parents. In my time at the school, I will say that the biggest improvement is down to the head who is focussed and determined to make it a great  school for the students. He also teaches students which is not the same in many schools. According to the students, they say he is an excellent teacher.

Did not like working here so I left. The reason was because I felt that they push a lot of work onto you, and use a strict policy to enforce rules, which makes you feel like you cannot speak up about the problems you might be facing as there may be consequences.

I will say that the students are good and well behaved most of the time. 

I felt a lot of stress working here and not much sympathy. I would not recommend. If you do apply, please do read the policy carefully before choosing to work here.

Hands down the worst school you could ever work at. You need to be ready to sell your soul to this school before you begin working here because once you start working here you will have no life. They drain you physically and mentally till you are just a shell of the person you were. You will end up questioning every single decision in your life. The management are bullies, they would make good night club bouncers, the have no respect for staff and will treat teachers like students.
