It was a good place to work in the Antarctic. You never see the same the same thing twice. The people you worked with same as other jobs good and bad. With the minimum wage it is higher now. I have know problems with them. The leave was fine as well four months on four months off. Twelve months pay for six months work and the job was easy. just some people that's all. You just take the rough with the smooth that all that's life.

BAS is the logistics centre for British Antarctica, as well as a top-flight research hub for Antarctica, the sub-Antarctic Islands, and the Arctic. Many people spend part of the season in Antarctica, either at a base or deployed in remote areas for field work. Headquarters in Cambridge has its own canteen serving breakfast, lunch, and tea.

To get the opportunity to go to Antarctica is amazing enough as it is, to get paid for it and looked after whilst your away is even better, I also met, lived and worked with people who I consider to be my second family.

Great place to work - the opportunity for progression is limited and the pay is not really enough considering the cost of living in Cambridge but the work life balance is great and the people that work there are all fantastic

This is one of the few bastions that you find where people are here for a long time and for good reason. Everyone is passionate about what they are doing and everyone works together to do it.
