I have been with the company approaching 3 years.  Everything started well with training, having 1-1's with managers on a regular basis to learn more not just about the job but how to progress in the role , even when it came to pricing they were competitive, but over the last year, the company has now been consumed by greed and power, out pricing and over valuing themselves in so many aspects.  Family business, maybe once upon a time but not anymore. 

There is a lack of trust between management & staff with every single move you make being watched, phone calls monitored both internal and external, how long you were on the call for etc, internal chat messages between colleagues monitored. Clocking times such as rest breaks & lunch breaks also monitored, how long it takes you to complete online training or even doing some training with other staff is also monitored  and god forbid you make friends with your colleagues outside of work.  Sometimes it does feel a bit like being back at school, with all the silly, unnecessary rules and monitoring. 

If you're fortunate enough to be a managers favourite you can do 1000 things right and get praise every single time and any mistakes are swept under the rug, however if you are not a managers favourite it is quite the opposite do 1000 things right and nothing is said do one thing wrong and you don't hear the last of it.  You are only useful to them if you know something they don't.

There is no room for progression. In the interview you will be told if you see another role within the company that appeals to you they back you all the way, however after expressing interest in another role within the company soon learnt this was not the case at all. 

Most of the staff are very helpful (at all sites) if you need assistance, but the odd one or two have zero interest and are only there for themselves. 

Busseys in a nutshell (if they refuse to believe any of this then you know they're the problem): 

Poor training from managers. You can be there within your probation period and you will be left and expected to perform like you know all the ins and outs.
Whatever role you apply for, expect no one outside your department to acknowledge your existence or communicate kindly.
Out of touch directors refuse to listen to both their staff and customers on feedback for positive changes.
Staff members are quite open to using derogatory definitions of people.
Out of date software on computers.
The job leads you into a false sense of a "family" feel, do not believe this garbage.
You are watched on CCTV by managers, your work chats are monitored for no other purpose than to "catch you out".
Manager favouritism is obvious and will make work environments uncomfortable.
Laughing or talking amongst your colleagues will send your manager into meltdown.

No company benefits apart from half price on your cars service, MOT etc, which is just normal price at standard garages.

most certainly avoid working for this company. So un professional,un organised, But you will have to watch your back, as you will quite likely be stabbed in the back by your co worker. Having said that some of the other shop floor staff are great. It is however a case of if your face fits and do as your told you will be ok. But if you have a conscience and disagree with management they will do anything they can to get rid of you or make it impossible for you to stay working there. But not all managers are bad there, just a few. But on the whole it’s a terrible place to work apply at your peril. Pay is always wrong. Olly the service manager  at whiffler road ford is a back stabber cant trust him not one bit. If they dont like you they will do anything to get rid of you even lie to the big boss up stairs. Mark bond is a compulsive lier and will walk all over you like dirt on the floor. You make one mistake they are all out to get you even the service tech. Its every man for them self. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST.

I have worked at Busseys for many years, and there have been system and procedure changes over time, I do struggle a little with change but have been fully supported by both Managers & Directors, who are equally friendly and approachable, and I now work in a virtually paperless environment.
I have the pleasure of working with some truly dedicated, hardworking knowledgeable colleagues across the Busseys sites, who I'm sure are valued highly, as without their vast experience and expertise, new staff and trainees would not benefit from their wisdom!
Busseys has many opportunities for new employees, apprenticeships, with focus on training & development within the motor industry.  They also welcome those with a wealth of experience in the sector.

I have 16 years management experience in the motor trade, having worked with four different companies and brands in this time.  Having just completed my 1st year at Busseys as a Sales Manager, I can honestly say that they are the most professional and caring of all those I have encountered.  Directors and Senior Managers take the time to interact with staff at all levels and experience within the business and a culture of openness is encouraged.  Busseys are a very professional family business who believe in providing a first class service to their customers and a clear career path, promotional and reward structure for all their staff. The work pace is fast and challenging as you would expect of the motor trade and staff are expected to rise to the challenge of "Being Busseys", in exchange you join a great team who are friendly and supportive and who work together across all departments to get the job done! 

A collaborative and supportive place to work with employees knowing their individual actions all contribute to the continued success of the Company by ensuring our customers' expectations are exceeded. 

During my six years with the Company I have been provided with many great opportunities to develop professionally and have been supported with the necessary training to allow me to excel in my role. Senior Management and the Directors are always approachable and actively encourage innovation welcoming new ideas which might improve our customers' experience.  

The industry in which we work is challenging, with many uncontrollable factors impacting our business but I know with the strong team we have in place that any challenges will be overcome. 

Unfortunately, my experience working at Busseys did not align with the values they promote regarding inclusivity and being "Disability confident". I was open about struggling with my mental health and was referred to Ben Support for therapy, which I appreciated. However, I was dismissed before I had the chance to access the help properly and begin recovery.

While the company claims to be supportive of mental health by "supporting any existing employee who acquires a disability or long-term health condition", my experience felt quite the opposite. It was disheartening to be let go during such a vulnerable time, especially after being encouraged to seek help.

I hope that in the future, Busseys takes a more compassionate and consistent approach when dealing with employees facing mental health challenges.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The only good part was leaving

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
High turn on very of staff with finger pointing from different company directors if something went wrong. Normally due to lack of staff, support and training. Expected to do multiple people's jibs and don't seam to understand/learn when people leave

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Staff are great to work with. Directors and management expect the world for minimum wage. Bonuses are hard to acheve 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Non stop and depending upon what position you do it's easier not to take you breaks as if you do nobody covers you work and it's a mess when u get back

Had 4 1/2 good years with Busseys. Learnt a huge amount. They have good systems and processes and are a friendly bunch. They have a charter in place to improve the culture as the motor industry can have a bad reputation but they honestly care about how employees feel and are approachable which is lovely. The hours can be long and the work is demanding (normal in the industry) They have a great loyal customer base who make the job worth while. Good training programs and have plenty of apprenticeship opportunities. I’ve read some poor reviews which seem harsh as I never experienced this culture. I honestly think there is far worse out there. If you like a friendly, hard working rewarding challenge I would recommend them. 

If you like to be set completely unreasonable targets, which if you dont hit the pay is shocking

I tried to given my opinion on a few things that could improve and was basically told to shut up and get on with it. 

The higher management are awful, finding any excuse to drag you down at every opportunity, you can do a 1000 things right and the 1 thing wrong you do, you get a note on your record. with zero support from anyone. 

The blame culture is shocking with nobody wanting to take and responsibility for anything, with the person at the bottom taking all the blame.

The company is stuck in the past which lack marketing skills and no innovation towards modern times, some of there ideas worked 20 years ago but not now.
