Cakehead

I worked at Cakehead for a period of 3 months and it was so awful that I handed in my notice without even having another job to go to because the stress of working there was just not worth it. 

Management are constantly changing goalposts because staff turnover is so high that you are constantly required to take on additional work/job roles to cover the people that have left. People would be handing their notice in on a daily basis and were told to leave straight away or would just have a blazing row and leave anyway due to management not welcoming any feedback from staff on the bad atmosphere around the place. 

We were expected to work above and beyond our contracted hours on a daily basis and told that we shouldn’t make any plans in the evenings incase we were needed to work late. People who had to leave on time for reasons such as childcare were frowned upon by management as not being committed to the job.  

Despite the job advert saying we needed to be able to forge good working relationships with our colleagues we were actually not allowed to talk whilst working, even when completing menial tasks  and with only 20 mins break per day that doesn’t leave a lot of time to get to know people either. People were also told not to socialise outside of work. 

The company tries to bamboozle you with state of the art equipment and good salaries but in my opinion these are not worth the stress working here causes. 

I regrets the decision to work in this department, theres a very unpleasant companionship, people are threatening like animals without allowing to smile or talk.
There’s 12 hours shift or more with one break. 
There’s no one who will ask you if you wanna stay for overtime you have to stay and they will not pay you for it extra money. People start working here and during few days they gone they didn’t like it here because of this behaviour. You start feel here worthless and everything what have to be in your interest is the good of the company you must forget that you have family because company need you and you need to be there for them from the early morning till time when they allow you to go home. I was thinking that i finally find a good job for me because they promise you a great opportunity at the beginning but the opposite is true.
Just little advice think twice before you decided to work for them... 

Talking, smiling and laughing are not permitted at work. High staff turnover. The company employs some of the hardest, most committed and virtuous people have ever had the pleasure to work with. Sadly these are taken for granted, spoken to on a sub human level and are expected to work till they crumble. Whilst others, more careless, are rewarded with pay rises for sick days and their general negligent behaviour. On a positive note the pay is exceptional, although in my opinion distributed in a discriminatory manner. If you take on the insurmountable challenge of a career at Cakehead I guarantee you will have never or will ever work anywhere like it again. It was the worst job I have ever had. But if you can disengage yourself from positivity then I would recommend it, there is always a place for everyone in this world, but not enough in Oakham to fulfil the role of a commercial bakery. 

I've worked at Cakehead for a few years and personally, I think it's a great place to work.

Jobs I've had at previous places have been easier and slower, but they were also monotonous, low-paid and the kinds of places that you end up wasting your life in, without feeling like you ever actually achieved anything day-to-day. This is honestly the first place where I feel truly valued and appreciated.

We produce cakes to a very high standard which is a collaborative effort and means we all have to be focussed on the quality of the production as a team.
  
At times, the work can be hard and fast-paced, but the people that put in the time and effort don't get overlooked and the opportunities are there and very rewarding - there's a lot of potential for progression, especially now the company's expanding.

I think Cakehead is a very nice place to work and the environment as a whole is professional and friendly.

I've been at Cakehead since the beginning of the factory being made and love it! I was looking for somewhere to learn new things, progress through hard work and be able to strive higher if I want to. It's hard work, but then every factory is! But you're treated with respect, if you have a time you have to leave or start at then that's what time you'll leave and if there is any issues they are solved quickly. The pay is good from the start with bank Holidays off. The Company itself is very supportive, the owners are involved in factory life and take on board any suggestions and everyone is really friendly. Overall a really good place to work with opportunities to progress if you're looking to.

I have not met what happens in cakehead never before in my life.
Personel in the company is helpless you can’t count on them. 12 hours shift with one break.Too interested in people’s lives they expected that now your whole live is company and nothing else is matter. You also need to be careful about the overtime because there’s no extra money for them. In company missing employees because they don’t want stay here longer them one week. Especially because everyone does the job for two or three people. Employees are thread like animals. The most sadness things in it is that, that  in the beginning they promise you great opportunity but after time you clearly understand that everything was lies.

I have worked at Cakehead for 2 years now, and in my 15 years of employment I have never felt more valued and appreciated as a member of staff.
Yes the work can be tough some days but the satisfaction and high standards are something I look forward to achieving each day.
After a period when I had a tough time in my personal life, management were supportive and approachable which will always be appreciated.
It is exciting with new products and an extremely progressive business with a good scope for career progression.

Very stressful and fast paced. They have cameras watching you all the time. People that work there have had some serious accidents so health and safety needs looking at. I had an accident that involved a pressured nozzle coming off the machine and hitting me in the face and badly injuring my fingers. I caught COVID from a manager that wasn't wearing the right mask and knowingly came to work with COVID. You only got half an hour break for a full days work. That included taking overalls, apron, hairnets and gloves off and putting back on. I was so glad to leave.

Since starting work for Cake Head, it has been nothing short of a fantastic experience with a wonderful team of people, a generous wage package that motivates myself to endeavour to always push harder than needed and management that feels it has been individually tailored just towards me. 

I would recommend Cake Head to anyone. If you’re in the market for a professional, friendly and above all positive company to build a career in then it would be unwise to pass an opportunity such as this. 

I can honestly say, since joining Cakehead I have not looked back and am so appreciative to have found a fantastic company to work for. I'm a true believer that what you put in, you get out!!  No two days are the same, yes it's busy (no one wants a job thats boring), but seeing the end result and all the cogs working together are so worth it. I've never worked for such caring people who really look after their team, ensuring the work life balance, pay and structure are all fair. Progression is there if you want it and they will support you all the way.  I would recommend Cakehead to anyone looking for their last, long term job.
