Probably the best place for people with addiction problems. Individual care planning, professional staff, every day is different at work. Since I have been working at the Castle I learned how to properly reflect over stuff, I learned who I am and how to work to my full potential; In the Castle I found the place which encouraged me to develop personally and professionally; the care to the patients is holistic combining medications with alternative therapies and I realised how important they are for anybody`s wellbeing. Due to the fact that we admit patients internationally I developed a good awareness about different cultures and how culture could hinder or help treatment. Hardest part of the job is when we work short staff and the job becomes overwhelming. However, I enjoy most of my work days and I am happy to be part of a committed and dedicated team who do their best to bring about positive changes to their patients; It is probably the only place where staff really go the extra mile for their patients.

I have been working with the management team of Castle Craig  in an administrative role for 2 years. I am enjoying the nurturing environment and I find the management team to be approachable and open to new ideas and suggestions.  There is plenty of scope for development and growth if you show willing and have a collaborative approach. Having worked for large multinational companies for most of my career,  I love working for a family run business and enjoy the supportive colleagues I have had the pleasure of working with. It gives me a sense of pride to be part of a leading addiction clinic that has such an enormous, life changing impact on the patients that it supports, both in the hospital and beyond.
The hospital is situated in a tranquil and beautiful setting.

At Castle Craig I definitely felt that I could see the difference my work and the work of my colleagues made to people with addictions. They come in sick and scared and after 4-6 weeks of treatment you can see an amazing difference, many keep coming back for aftercare and it is such a positive experience being part of that. Management are innovative and there is always a new project or refurbishment on the go. Staff are friendly and joint staff lunches means that you get to meet everyone. Lunch is free which is a bonus and I reckon I saved over 1k a year by not buying sandwiches and snacks. The castle is set in a beautiful area of the country and is easy to commute to from Edinburgh.

I applied and got an internship in the therapy department. I shadowed one of the therapists, and also spent a week with the patients and going through treatment. I was made to feel really welcome and looked after for my 4 months. I had regular supervision with the manager who had a lot of time for me, and the rest of the staff - nurses, psychologists were very supportive.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I was made to feel very welcome - the people are so friendly. They are also a very generous employer, with many benefits.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I didn't have any stress whilst working at Castle Craig.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The offices are very nice and set in beautiful grounds. It has a relaxed atmosphere.

Work is stressful at times but meaningful and rewarding, I have learned to be patient with those recovering from addiction. My line manager is hard working and a good team player and my co-workers are the salt of the earth. The hardest part of my job is hearing people relapsing and the most enjoyable is hearing from those who remain in recovery.

It's a workplace where things happen like clockwork, everyone knows their job and gets on with it.  As a result the client satisfaction is high for the most part, and you see the patients doing well and leaving happy.  Some of the therapists are former patients themselves.  Management is quite hierarchical but know what they're doing.

Owners need to step back and let management run the company and allow them to pass their vision on to the next generation 
Seems like lots of changes for the sake of change with little or no planning behind the decision

Enjoyable place to work. And supportive staff. Healthy working conditions and reasonable conditions, although there was no pension facilities when I worked there, this may have changed in the intervening eight years.

Bad management and constantly new staff and staff leaving
