I picked up a lab technician position after a redundancy from a previous position. I was already disgruntled at the shockingly low pay I was offered. Then once I started working there, it felt less like working in a lab, and more like working in a factory. It was always a constant rush to get all of your testing done that day. Within my department I was forced to pick up the slack for other members of the team who didn’t want to pull their weight. A surprisingly physical job, on your feet for 8 hours a day at times. I was physically and mentally burnt out.
And then thanks to the spectacular failures of the higher ups, over half of the site were made redundant from positions we thought were secure before their probation periods were even over. A few employees had only been in their positions a matter of weeks. Most of the managers were nice, but it was obvious that some managers had their favourites and would conveniently overlook confrontational and bullying behaviour from some other members of staff.

A technical and fast paced workplace. Enjoyable work environment with mentally stimulating roles, and the possibility for quick advancement if shown enough positive work ethic. Management is often hands on and helpful. Only issues occur where pay is very slim to begin and often cannot cover cost of living arrangements, additionally there is often times where there is little to no work to do, resulting in employees standing around or waiting for a single department to finish a task before work can be resumed

The coworkers are great and kind, I've made many friends here that I hope to keep after I've left. Immediate management on site is by and large helpful and I am thankful for their guidance. 
The big issue is there is very little job security. The company promised long term employment but fails to deliver. 
The company has a stunning lack of foresight in business matters that has led to mass redundancies. 
This is in addition to salaries that are lower than they should be for these positions. 
In short, dont work here unless you are happy to quickly gain some experience and leave within a few months. 

The only good thing I can say about working here is the people. Coworkers are warm, friendly and supportive. The exact opposite is true with management or any senior staff. Management at Cawood are disorganised and will let you down constantly. Technicians and analysts suffer the most because of Cawood's poor leadership and direction. Pay is terrible and benefits are at a bare minimum. This job is not sustainable for longer than 6 months and is only useful for anyone who needs entry level lab experience. There are better companies out there to work for - don't work for Cawood!

When I started at Sci-tech CA I had no lab experience, I was trained quickly and efficiently and after confirming I was comfortable, given a large amount of responsibility. I was allowed to grow into my role and manage my own time providing my goals were achieved. I learned a lot from this and am very grateful. The management team were encouraging and easy to communicate with. Salary, benefits and progression possibilities leave a little to be desired but this is to be expected of a smaller business. The experience gained will make up for this.

The job itself was interesting and overall I enjoyed the work, the culture and management left a lot to be desired. Very woke  culture and environment, very much a case of “if your face fits” if it doesn’t they will find ways to get you out one way or another. Very high turnover of staff and yet they still don’t seem to identify the problem is the overall management team. If you value your sanity and mental health it’s not worth the decent salary. 

Communication between labs is poor, the management is awful from the laboratory heads. The actual overall manager isn't bad, but doesn't manage or know what actually goes on outside of the office. The work culture is toxic, and many leave shortly after joining. There are cliches and if you do not join in on them you are frowned upon. No recognition when you do well, only harassed to do better. Good for experience but not worth the stress. 

Great company to work for. Excellent if you are manually skilled, plenty of opportunities. Salary will increase significantly, if you are prepared to work. Great banta. Supportive management and various jobs. Lab work, painting, carpentry, gardening etc, they make use of your skills. Overtime is always available, double on the weekends. Stress free work environment and reasonable income. I was grinding soil and driving two jags, can’t complain.

Nice location and slightly flexible working hours, but if you want career progression, good luck. Pay not based on performance, poor management, no appraisals (despite false promises). As a consequence of these issues, staff morale is very low. But, most of the people are friendly, however if there are any issues, don't expect it to be dealt with well. If you want a plod along job until you retire then its probably great.

Great place to work.  Relaxed and understanding management.  Due to seasonal nature, workload fluctuates, can get very busy during season, which can feel stressful but swings and roundabouts, with quiet and relaxed summers. Plenty of opportunity for overtime with up to double pay.  Good place to get lab experience. Pay is average though and progression can feel limited. Overall, one of the best jobs!
