No proper structure. Anything can change at any time just because they feel like it.  

 If you’re applying for this role at Econsultancy still within Centaur, I have one word for you and it is “Run” It’s not worth it. If someone had mentioned this to me a month ago I’d have saved myself the stress. 

First of all, the team doesn’t know how to do a proper onboarding, the manager for this role has no idea how to manage and they’ll feel it is okay to terminate your employment after three weeks while onboarding and still on probation because according to them you should be a magician and also be faultless. 

Let my experience count for something to you “Run”.  Plus the HR here doesn’t have a working plan for employees. They’ll also encourage your manager to fire you without doing any investigation and your testimony doesn't count.


Advice to Management
Work on your teams and cultivating an environment were people can actually grow.

Typical day entails on the phone bringing in delegates, tables and entries.  Liaising with the team checking their well being and performance.  Attend a number of meetings regarding each event covering numerous action points.

Learned sales techniques and working with senior management.

Good co workers with a strong work ethic.

Hardest part of the job is high turnover and looking to implement change effectively.

Enjoyable part of the job are the people!

A company led by naive and obsequious mid-senior management with little regard for their clients and the outcomes of their services. Yet another media company with talented junior-to-mid level staff overshadowed by brown nosing managers and directors desperate to hold on to their jobs as performance related security eludes them.

A great starting point for a career.

Hardest part of the job can be bad communication affecting your role

Making amazing events at the best prices possible, and through this making amazing external contacts

Responsible for the event sponsorship revenue for Centaur's  Financial event within their financial portfolio.

Also responsible for managing financial clients b2b/consumer relationship with the financial media via a yearly subscription service.

I initially enjoyed working here; the people were lovely, my manager was caring and dedicated, and we often got free pizza in meetings. However, the powers that be don’t care about us little cogs in the machine, and sadly reduncies happened with no remorse.

This company is going through troubled times. The cost cutting, cut throat mentality, neglect of staff and customers is unsustainable. A huge proportion of staff are unhappy. Attrition rate approx 50% each year and not improving.

Terrible heirachy to add to pathetic investment in marketing their ever dwindling, poor portfolio of products.

Kiss goodbye to career progression.

Constantly moving the goalposts with regard to comms/bonus.

Couldn’t wait to get out.

The organisation is terrible, no one really knows what is going on and the teams are very tight knit. No one tends to mix groups. The work is pretty easy and the offices are nice. The commission is terrible and the targets are bad. But the people are overall quite nice!

Fast paced working environment to meet targets. Good team management and benefits and commission. Working in an office and face to face at events. Worked hard but rewarded well
