Avoid the Skipton depot like the plague. The staff turnover is very high and for good reason. I got hired for a job (commercial tyre fitter) that was never going to materialise. Instead, I was stuck carrying out menial tasks in the depot, offering zero progression into the role I was hired for. Management is abysmal, with the staff, including management, being unfriendly and unprofessional. The management clearly has their favourites and if they don’t like you for any reason they single you out and alienate you from the team. They struggle to keep staff so much I ended up juggling a workload of 4 people between 2 of us, which added further pressure with no support or recognition. The pay also was not reflective of the lack of work/life balance.

Each morning Monday to Friday, i started work at 8:30am till 5:30pm, within the work time my duties entailed, changing any Tyre on any vehicle, exhaust, repairs and  oxyacetylene. working there you have to have good attention to detail with very high working standards as if the job was not done correctly, for customers or colleagues this could be very dangerous. This is why safety must come first in a role such as this. I worked with a great team in an extremely fast paced environment also individually if no one was around to help.i find it very easy to work off my own initiative and have no issues doing so. The job its self is very demanding but i found this very easy to over come as i enjoyed the job and the team as i am very passionate and take pride in my work.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Could be anything from being in garage all day or could out do wagon tyre to punctures to tractors tyres or ouctures or even car

At central tyres i only worked on the weekends as I was young and I needed some way of getting some money. On the weekends I would work half a day and I would help the other employees with only small jobs to get used to the way of working and it helped me get used to talking to new people and I also picked up some skills along the way which may help me now.

start at 8:30 finish at 5:30 
use to put tyres away clean up the workshop and also i use to change tyres,balance wheels and do puncture repairs.
the manager wasnt very good 
the hardest part of the job was having to put up with the manager 
the most enjoyable part of the job was the banter with my co-workers.

No amount of work is ever enough, health and safety ha what health and safety and if you value your life don't work for them it's not worth it, when it comes to training if you don't agree with there outdated video as sufficient training you don't have a job

Don’t want you to have any kind of life just want u to work work work work , management is shocking won’t buy you any new work clothes / boots etc tools as they will loose there monthly bonus so make u wait 3+ months for new clothes and boots 

No work home balance and management  lie about bonus and wages heavy manual  job tools and equipment  are a joke and breaks are non existent   avoid at all cosrs

Spent many years working for Central Tyre whilst owed by Pirelli, great company to work for. No longer trading as CT as now taken over by Stapletons / Kwik Fit.

as long as you can do your job you should have no problems here. I had many happy years here. only left to have a go at doing something new. worked at two different depots and enjoyed both
