The company used to very good to work for but over 5 years had managed to alienate their staff and only promote staff that fulfil their "Woke" quotas which in turn undervalues hard work and experience.
They have started to try and make a change for the better but it is slow in practice and will take a considerable time to make up for shortcomings. One example of this is half the staff being given 2 weeks paid leave on top of their normal leave and told the rest of the staff to "suck it up". The salary increases were below average for some time that the operators had to have a 2nd increase to ensure they were at the national minimal living wage. Then reworked everyone's contracts and pay so that they can continue to give below inflation salary increases if at all. In 2020 there was no pay increase as the uncertainty of the economy during covid. 6 moths in had hit record levels of profit and instead of addressing the pay increase then, in hopes of avoiding questions at the next pay increase being below inflation, which it was, handed out a small bonus to its staff just before the announcement of it.
In the recent years management are attempting to make themselves be seen more by talk to the staff. And if you think there are workshops on site. Good luck! Its either going to be an un-lit/ unpowered container next to an explosive area, which means no hot work/ night work. Or it will be the size of a shed that will soon be phased out into the rest of a production area. Just because. The good thing of working here is that most of the staff are great social butterflies and if you try you can have conversations with people from a range of walks of life. If you work hard to prove yourself you might be seen. And there are worse places out there. Its best to focus on the positives. It is still competitive rates of pay even if it is less so. The company is still growing and will be here for some time to come, so it is a safe choice long term. Depending what site you work at, it can be very click'y. 

As an Engineer the amount of training available to you is incredible.  In my first year, the company had probably spent about 8k on me alone. The opportunities to progress into other engineering role such as controls, projects, production engineering, is made evident from the start.
As well as internal and external training,  coopervision has the Cooper Academy (online) and has also partnered with LinkedIn learning.
During major holidays like Xmas and Easter each employee receives a gift from there manager and or team leader and the company gives each employee a gift hamper worth upwards of £50 during Christmas. They have team building days and family days. There are also gift card rewards for exceptional work, health and safety awareness and length of service milestones. There are decent canteens with a good selection of vending machines. Tea and an assortment coffees are free of charge. There use to be game rooms (which might comeback) , study rooms and prayer rooms.
There employee discounts for shopping, holidays, travel, insurance and much more. You can claim back some medical and dental expenses,  free eye tests, mental health support and private medical phone consultations if needed.
If you work shifts you get over 50% of the year off plus they shut down between Xmas eve and new years day.
Pay is brilliant and a very generous shift uplift with opportunities for overtime at time and a half.
This organisation is global and probably the worlds largest manufacturer of soft disposable contact lenses, the company is always expanding and updating its current sites and production lines, so there is good job security. There is lots of support, big teams and a vast range of tools to help you do your job. Give CooperVision a try. You won't regret it!

I waste a lot of years in here on nothing. This place becoming worse since coopervision appear ( prev. was Sauflon ) absolute toxic people who doing the problems from nothing. There is always problem. even when you doing your job. Managment looks friendly to you, but they threating you like a idiot. A lot of ridicouls rules appeared without any good reason, when you ask managment ''what was the reason?'' they will answer to you ''Health and Safety''  - Rules made out of spite...just to make life more difficult for someone. The cameras are not used for ''Health and Safety condition'' as it should.. but its used for spying workers lol. Managment doing some of pitty secret circle behind to talk about who doing what. I've been witness of discrimination which was covered by ''Health and Safety'' reasons either and very unfair of threating other people. A LOT OF BACKSTABBERS, they smiling in to your face and they talking nonsense on you in the office. Also the agency people in here have no right to anything, i've been witness of bad behaviour of team leader to person who was working by agency, it was reported to both places... agency and main company, few people was a witness of it and guess what.. case closed. This place has absolute not future, managment have no idea what they doing.. a lot of people left the work in last few months. This place is just good on temporary time. No any full-time worker will help you and sometimes the help is very necessery there, you can drown and no one will be care about it. Only temp workers helping each other there... its sad. 
Ohh.. i forgot.. this clever people set the canteen in new place. So you have to step over the metal bench, change your unfiorm and shoes and then you have to go upstairs.. so official of time brake is 2x30 minutes but unofficial is 2x25 minutes, so don't try be exactly 30 minutes because the backstabbers will eat you :)

Unfortunately, the company in question appears to have a multitude of internal issues that inhibit a positive work environment. Their tendency to swiftly terminate employees, particularly temporary workers, raises concerns about job security. It is also discouraging to hear that the focus on creating a happy and enjoyable workplace is not consistently maintained. The lack of transparency regarding job security and advancement opportunities creates a sense of unease among employees. It is disheartening to learn that decisions regarding work progression seem to be influenced by personal connections rather than merit, leading to the prevalence of political games within the organization. Hopefully, the company will address these concerns and strive towards fostering a more transparent and equitable workplace culture in the future.
This company not only rewards work and dedication with permanent contracts, but also extends this gesture to those whom they genuinely like. Whether an individual has worked for five years or only a few months, if they have made a positive impression, they are offered the security and stability of a permanent position. 

I've worked for several companies doing IT. 

Overall, in comparison to other places I have worked, I honestly really rate Cooper. I have a good work life balance, the chance to work closely with other departments if I want, and a manager who listens and does what he can. The main thing I like about working here, is that working as an IT analyst, I get to dabble in networks, servers and security. It's a great place to learn from that perspective, rather than being limited to one specific team function. 

Every year I have worked there, I have received a payrise based on merit / my work over that year/pay period. This means not everyone gets rises, but it means those that do, have earned them based on their work. 

The location sucks a bit, the parking sucks a bit, but I've never not been able to park, and there are a couple of companies that deliver in the absence of local shops. We get a 30 minute lunch break, but the company runs flexitime, so if we need longer for a specific reason it's not an issue. 

The work isn't stressful, the colleagues are generally respectful and friendly, and the one time I've had to speak to HR they were really responsive and addressed my concern. 

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Managers and supervisors don’t care about you, nothing is confidential, management and supervisors will come to you and talk about other people in your team badly so you can count on it that they’re doing the same to you. So unprofessional. While there I watched as members of staff complained about how they were being treated for nothing to be done and ended up leaving their solution was to send this person to manage another department. If you complain about how you’re being treated you’ll be singled out for standing up to them. Around 7 different people complained about the senior OP on my shift but she’s basically untouchable for some unknown reason. They don’t care how she treats people as long as she gets the numbers for their bonuses. I’ve never worked in a place with such an extremely high turnover of staff throughout the entire shop floor. Very toxic environment to work in. If anyone with authority doesn’t like you they will make sure everyone else that they speak to doesn’t like you either 

Depending who you work for, it can be a good place to work.

Some decent benefits.

Employees are told that all jobs are advertised, yet people are promoted when there is no job on the internal message board. Leaving little Limited options for progression. "If your face fits" culture.

Poor employee engagement.

Support from Senior Managers can be severely lacking. (Though some departments are still looked after well.)

Some departments are left so thin, that it is difficult for them to maintain the work load.

Employees can be looked down upon if they go sick.

Development opportunities come to those who are in the managers "good books".

Has a very "political" feel.

If you happen to work with a bad apple it can be very isolating.

Pay in certain departments is lacking.

Overall, the culture of the place is the hardest part to get over.

It isn't all bad, there are some good challenges and if you work in a good department, then the work is rewarding. But these departments are few and fair between.

The work is fairly easy but very repetitive. 
**Do not start if you have any health/back issues that limit you, because they will fire you the minute you can't do whatever they ask** 
Management only like people who suck up to them, Its very cliquey there. 
You never know if you're going to wake up to a job the next day  (if you're agency)
Canteen is bad. Overpriced sandwiches that you would buy for half the price at a local corner shop (the unbranded ones) No hot food.
They do have people that have worked there for 10/20+ years, but in general they are mostly hiring and firing. 
Team leaders have their favourites. Rules only apply to a certain few. 
Yeah, the money is good but really not worth the mental torture! I would suggest steering clear of this place.

The IT Helpdesk is so poorly managed, you end up doing the work of 3 different departments. Suggestions aren't listened to and thus you are left chasing suppliers for invoices instead of Accounts and booking in deliveries instead of the Warehouse. Whole department needs a shake up but I can't see it happening any time soon. There is very limited parking on site and limited lunch options. You get 30 minutes for lunch and there aren't any shops local enough to be able to go and buy lunch so you have to use the vending machines. There was also no payrise this year even though the company made 1bn in profit 2021-2022... Covid quoted as the reason but it doesn't tally up when you read the earnings report.
