If you don't mind a bit of hard graft and getting your hands dirty the job itself is quite enjoyable, it's varied and no two days the same.

The trucks are in a terrible state and are off the road more than on due to age (mostly over 8 years old) so don't expect shiny new units like you'd get in most otherwise companies of this size because it's not going to happen.

The PAY ....... right then the pay structure is so difficult to work out its just impossible. First things first your not going to earn £30,000 plus here for quite some time so take no notice of the job ad. Realistic is £1600 - £1900 take home per month for at least the first six months. Obviously that depends on your work ethic and whether you're prepared to work long days until you get used to the job. But even then your earnings are dependent on how many cars you are given to deliver/collect and what zone they are in by the office and there's no real system in place to evenly distribute the work. If you're face fits and all that jazz. This seems to be a real issue for a lot of the lads and is probably the reason most leave, there's a high turnover here and most new starters don't get much past a couple of months. It is hard work for the amount of money you earn. So to explain a little the value per car depends on how far you go for them or what zone they are in so you could collect more cars than others and find your pay lighter due to them having been to higher value zones. Which effectively means you work harder for less. There is also frustration surrounding the missed collections as you may drive well out of  the way for a car and the person may not be home in which case you don't get paid for it and this could happen a couple of times a day and over a month it's a lot of money to lose.

I'll finish on a positive note, the guys are a good bunch to be fair and tend to help each other out on the yard and share tips and tricks of the trade with each other. About the only good point. Good luck if you choose Copart.

A typical day involved being expected to be an octopus and be able to serve customers, answer phone calls, make outgoing calls, reply to emails, perform administrative tasks and deal with complaints all at the same time. While the Office Manager was lovely and brilliant at her job, the GM had no idea about the company, just barking orders and not providing support and then comes out shouting "Why are we in the red?!" When they just sit in their little office with their blinds closed the whole time. Minimal training is provided. The GM expects you to always tell the customer what they want to hear and actually expected you to be OK with customers verbally abusing you over the phone. There is no level of decent management or training, as the manager their-self lacks training and knowledge in the company. They do not appreciate their staff, they will lead you on for weeks and give you more and more responsibilities. Permanent staff are paid the same rate regardless of their time in the company and temps will come in getting the exact same pay. There was numerous issues between staff and it was fine for others to gang up on one member of staff resulting in her being fired, the older men working there are allowed to harass clients over the phone and make them feel uncomfortable with no consequences, however should you tell a customer that their language is not acceptable and should they carry on you won't serve/speak with them, you will lose your job. Copart is a joke. The company itself goes on about valuing its employees; all it cares about is its overturn and making its stock shares larger. DO NOT TAKE A JOB HERE.

As a driver you have about 4 departments constantly trying to micromanage you. The heads of these departments will do any and everything to avoid taking any responsibility so pass the buck always back to the driver. 

You are paid per vehicle moved as a way to incentivise productivity from drivers - however if customers cancel their collections or the information given to you is wrong and the collection can’t go ahead, you simply don’t get paid. This means to earn a decent wage there you will be doing 13 hour days 5 days a week. 

The job itself is hard graft, made harder by managers with no understanding of the role constantly implementing new “procedures” for you to follow (for which you don’t get paid for the extra time they take up). 

Every month all the drivers attend a meeting and are all they need to work harder and they’re not good enough.

No union representation so anything that hinders the driver day to day is swept under the rug. Problems that affect the top brass bonuses however… quickly looked at. 

Overall, if you want to finish work late, filthy, exhausted, and facing disciplinary action for accidentally breaking one of their 450 procedures then the jobs for you. If not, then 95% of HGV jobs are less stress than this one. 

Oh - and the office are sent about 20 clips a day from the driver facing camera. Take a sip of water and someone will be watching deciding whether or not to pull you in for a meeting about it. 

You do get weekends and bank holidays off though….

if your into open racism, sexism and hatred for anything good in the world then this could be the place for you, if your keen to be humiliated and disciplined in front of other staff members, by your managers, then give them a ring on Monday, and when you have accomplished the interview which a  frog could pass, you could try your hand at tolerating working  outside in the hammering  down rain, snow, relentless wind, or  the types  conditions the four horseman of the apocalypse normally turn up in. and all  this whilst dealing with many, many types  vehicles which scrap yards would turn down,  believe me it is top level persecution,       granted nobody put a gun to my head to make me get a job there, but they sell it so well initially, Then you start, and your in at the deep end, there is no training, your sent out into the yard with a staff member  who has already lost the will to live, given a phone type thing and told to photograph cars, the following day your told what you did wrong the day before, and told not to do the thing, you never knew you did wrong again, then it's eat sleep repeat,,  there are 3 meetings a week in the morning, where you can sit and either be humiliated or you can join in with the pack mentality and enjoy somebody else getting verbally assassinated. seriously if you are not very good at many things and have a Jeremy Kyle show mentality, then give them a ring i guarantee you will get a job, you would have to be a single cell organism not to

I would typically perform investigations on total loss vehicles for several insurance companies every day. The number of these reports would vary from a dozen to over thirty a day. Due to the company's own time restraints, each report had to be completed within 24 hours of the vehicle reaching the facility. I would visually and physically inspect each vehicle for the damage or loss type as quoted by the Insurer. Next I would ascertain the working condition of the vehicle in it's present state and finally record the condition of the vehicle which could not have said to be related to it's total loss. This information I would compile into a report that I would enter onto the company computer network and send to an desktop engineer for damage repair pricing. The final report would have images attached and sent to the insurer. I was the only person at the facility capable of this task and I was consistently received audit results in the top two employees in the UK across the firms sixteen facilities. I would also meet members of the general public to allow them access to vehicles and had many other duties within the department apart from my own. I was also often called upon to fix IT issues as the nearest point of contact for them was overseas and my knowledge often proved invaluable.

I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Copart, and honestly, it's one of the worst companies I've ever interacted with. The biggest issue by far is the management. They're completely out of touch with their employees and customers, and it’s clear that they only want "yes men" who are too afraid to speak up. The leadership seems more focused on maintaining control and avoiding any form of accountability than actually making improvements or fostering a healthy work environment.

Instead of addressing real issues or taking constructive feedback seriously, management just pushes people aside who try to challenge the status quo. If you have any innovative ideas or a different perspective, you're immediately labeled as a problem. It's frustrating to see a company so dismissive of its staff, especially when it could be doing so much better if they just listened.

The toxic culture trickles down from the top, and it’s reflected in poor decision-making and inefficiencies across the board. I’ve witnessed firsthand how employees are treated like disposable commodities, and it’s clear that the company only values those who will blindly agree with everything management says or does. If you’re looking for a company with integrity, accountability, or the ability to listen and grow, look elsewhere. Copart is just not it.

Worked as a driver in all my years driving I have never known such a company. The management seem to take great pleasure in disciplining you for the slightest thing, whilst covering up major staffing issues and promoting themselves. They are promising better pay as the majority of us do 14 hours working out at minimum wage. It's a dirty job. You will be expected to drive 100 miles for a car that probably isn't there guess what no pay for that!. Looking into bringing in pay as you go mileage but couldn't wait any longer was only making 29k long hours. Others paying 10k more, moved on much happier . Once your out of copart you realise how micro managed you are and how the management are so appaling.  They will never support you and if they can disaplin you and get themselves another tick in the box, and guess what no pay rise for a year. They will do it for a slightly worn strap or forgetting to wear safety Google's walking across the yard, they don't bother but that's ok as they are management. The only positives are the other drivers and copart day. It's sad that a company as this is so driven on progress that they have forgotten how to respect it's employees treating them like objects not people. Very high turn over of drivers

I will start off by saying Copart on the whole is a brilliant place to work if You like working while human faeces is actually coming out of the drains and you are on some kind of medication that makes you immune to any sort of logic or if of your brain cells have died... If you read the job advert you are in for a treat you will not however drive high end cars  I'm sorry to say you will however work with the brightest of individuals who think they are the bee's knees and high ranking mangers but are really just the same as you, you get to take photos of cars that I can only describe as fit for the crusher. You can Clean all the empty fast food wrappers out of car along with all the other nasty stuff that's left behind till your hearts desire, If you want to be spoken to like an absolute idiot by office staff that think they are Better and above you (even though you have more qualifications than them) then this people is the place to work, help customers and get told off from the area manager is always a plus. Put in your all and never get a thanks also If you want to be under paid or never see the money they take from you with out asking apply within folks. if you are reading this you are better than this job.only apply if it's a last resort and there are not hammers around to bash some sense in to your head

The passion I have for working with vehicles and rectifying challenging faults what others shy away from, this was the best part about working for Copart/ Greenparts Specialists and also working alongside of the staff that worked in the same department as myself 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The management recognised the ability and quality of the work that I was challenged with and was beating the deadlines by several days and then they were taking on outside work and giving double the amount of work load but where showing no appreciation for any of it, plus having an injury on site caused by the work load given and no suitable equipment to lift heavy parts and was later let go from the company even after providing unfit for work notes and medical records stating that I was not suitable to return to work until I was fit enough

The environment was clean but not fully equipped with suitable equipment for the jobs expected

At first, very good but then too much was expected

Put Simply, if you expect to be treated fairly as a driver you can forget working for Copart. All the best runs are given to the same drivers, leaving you as a new driver the worst runs imaginable. You will work around 15-20 hours per week for free as Copart do not pay overtime, at all. This is around 25 hours more than the favoured drivers, who will take home around double the money you do, because they are favoured by the despatch team. Whilst we are talking about the despatch team let me tell you, that could not organise a children's party in McDonalds with free burgers and a clown yet still manage to have a bad attitude! In fact the combined IQ of the entire despatch team would fail to reach the dizzy heights of a dead hamster who suffered brain trauma at birth. In short, if you are a driver with any self respect, do not even consider Copart under any circumstances whatsoever, ever........
