What is the best part of working at the company?
To be given the opportunity to learn new skills and also build a rapport with inner staff. And to also be given the opportunity to work, forward and earn promotions within the company. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The language and communication barrier between different cultures and select individuals that seem very confused with their job roles within the work place (especially with them having multiple years ahead of experience at the company/past sister company. Another stressful thing is being given the opportunity to work at a medium to high level but not feeling like you are given the trust to execute your job to its highest standard without dictatorship in the wrong direction. There hasn't been a night since I have worked there where something doesn't seem to go wrong or fit into place unfortunately until the very end when the job is done (seems to not have the same satisfaction as doing the job and making the nights run smoother for staff and our departments).

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment within the workplace is hard to adjust to at first, but once adjusting does seem to get easier with the more days of experience you develop. As for a cultural side of things, it is a lot easier to work with and can adjust and adaptor very easy (providing you are willing to put yourself out there) 


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
After working for the company for nearly 4 years at first was very hard to adjust to, however, as time and experience goes by and builds the work becomes the easier part of the job. The hardest part is the poor decisions that are made internally from the company but with a Voice, opinion and commitment these things can be improved and this is what I am currently working. But overall time goes by very quickly and I'm kept very busy.

The office politics that surround the accounts department are the worst I have ever seen from any company I have worked for. If you don't continually brown nose the manager then they will not entertain you and you will have a very hard time or won’t be in the job very long. It is an extremely uncomfortable enviroment to be in if you work for the finance department. They will talk behind your back, whisper & skype each other go through your desk as soon as your back is turned  the manager is aware of this practice but does nothing. If you have a personality & are a decent, mature person then prepare to leave all that at the door as you walk in. The manager expects you to sit in silence the whole day unless you are one of the brown noser's. There is a bullying mentality in the department & the manager joins in. It is embarrasing to witness this from grown women behaving like children in the play ground..

The structure of working on the Purchase/Sales Ledger side is an absolute shambles, you literally are treated like a dogsbody, they will only give you the work they don't like or want to do themselves. The job description that is advertised is completely false, you will not be shown any of it as the clerks already doing the role want to limit what you know about their work.You will be expected to cover reception & trust me you will be the only one covering.Lazy, manipulative, childish manager & ledger clerks a very uncomfortable place to work, very boring and depressive atmosphere, you'd be expected to completely discard the actual advertised job description as they make it up as they go along.

This review is to serve a warning to any of you who have any sense to stay well away and keep searching for a new job, because trust me anywhere is better than Cranswick! just trust me when I say it's a shocking circus of a place to work, for your own happiness and mentality stay clear!!!

Most IT functions are controlled by Group IT, with no local admin rights granted.
Management often appears highly stressed, and issues are repeatedly raised during fortnightly and main reviews.
Regular travel to sites (up to 100 miles each way) to support farm internet issues, with mileage paid at 45p per mile (fuel included in this rate).
Team is frequently short-staffed, resulting in increased workload.
Limited support from Group IT, and communication with Group IT managers is often unresponsive.
Co-pilot builds are unreliable, and new starters are expected to build their own laptops.
No sick pay during at least the first six months.
Salary is low relative to the level of technical skill expected.

Early start, late finish travel between sites fixing several IT issues and systems

A typical day at work involves a mix of problem-solving and preventive maintenance. I’d start the day by reviewing any handover from the previous shift and prioritizing urgent repairs. Throughout the day, I troubleshoot machine malfunctions, perform routine checks, and ensure that production runs smoothly. There’s always a focus on minimizing downtime to keep operations efficient.

What I’ve learned from my time here is how to think on my feet and stay calm under pressure. There’s a lot of technical knowledge involved, but beyond that, I’ve learned the importance of teamwork and communication, especially in this fast-paced environment..

In terms of management, I find that they are approachable and open to feedback, which creates a collaborative environment. They provide clear direction and needed support.

The workplace culture is safety-oriented and team-focused. There’s a real sense of camaraderie in the engineering department, and we all work together to solve problems quickly. It can get stressful at times, but everyone supports one another, which helps maintain morale.

The hardest part of the job is definitely the unpredictability. No two days are the same, and sometimes equipment failures or breakdowns happen at the worst possible moments. This requires quick thinking and sometimes long hours to get things back on track.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the satisfaction that comes from fixing something and seeing the immediate impact it has on production. Knowing that I’ve played a role in keeping everything running smoothly is very rewarding, and it feels good to contribute to the team in a meaningful way.

I spent time working for this company before I became a Hedge Fund Manager / Investment Banker in New York City in the USA because in my earlier life I lived in a very economically dire town in South Yorkshire that lack opportunities even for a person with a Masters Degree. In my opinion it was an horrible place to work because it was so cold, some of my staff experienced their hands turning blue, and the job was so boring it was like being in the movie groundhog day the same stuff over and over again, in my opinion it was the type of place you ended up when there is a lack of opportunity in my former town. I find it hard to believe that a job like this is anybodies dream job. I found it a soul destroying job with little advance prospects and I had to leave to advance upwards in my career path. During my time, there was a huge turn over of staff. Most of my fellow workers during my time did not enjoy working there, but in all fairness the shift manager and shift supervisors that I have above my own production line supervisor level were very nice and I liked them alot. During my time the company paid for employees to undertake various NVQ level qualifications. The company is quite a good company, it is just the type of work of standing on production lines all day long that is not good.  A terrible job but a job I rate above working in a Call Centre.

I start work at 08:00 am and finish at17:00.  First thing I do is to see if we have had any accidents on the night or weekend shifts, then I chase up outstanding accidents, I am working hard at trying to get investigations completed within 24 hours with a solid close out action to prevent recurrence. I do a full factory tour at least twice a day and talk to all staff regarding Safety and the importance they are to the business to keep Safe and work Safe.  I have learnt that things are not always as they seem especially when the culture is negative, so patience is required!   Management are not so responsive to Safety but this is due to the pressures of production and this is fed down the line through to the shop floor.  I am the only official Health and Safety person in the company, with up to 900 people working on site.  The hardest part of the job is getting senior managers and managers  to buy-in to improve the Safety culture, I have to be very diplomatic without compromising my own position as and Health and Safety person on site.  I enjoy engaging with the work force and holding committee meetings with the Safety reps as this gives them the chance to speak openly regarding concerns and then I act on them without letting their managers know who said what, I am building a trust between us and this is improving the culture at ground level. I love a challenge and will continue to work hard as long as I am here to improve the safety culture.

Worked as stockman on an outdoor breeding farm, major issues where obtaining or gaining access to basic P.P.E.  such as gloves, overalls and wellington boots. most of the staffs attuited was awful not only towards others workers but treatment towards the animals was unassay and horrific, electric fence was over 10 years old and unable to contain livestock, which lead to pigs escaping into the near by Forrest. none of the staff checking the farrow took any pride in their job. workers who have been working within the company for years didn't know anything about any of the medications, pigs where left to suffer because of no medical intervention was carried out. staff routinely neglected vaccinating piglets and would generally opening bottles and pouring them onto the floor. syringes where not replaced regularly leading to staff being forced to make do with what they had which meant piglets where not being vaccinated. pigs that sustained injury such as broken back or legs would be left for weeks waiting on management to shoot them. staff within the company on other farms would leave mid way through the day and not return usually sending picture of themselves in the local pubs. 
machinery was dangerously patched together, farrow huts where dangerously patched together leaving nails and screws exposed for pigs cut themselves as well as staff when weening.

On a typical day, I organise and communicate any forth coming trials, both in low risk manufacturing and high risk slicing. Attendance of the operational morning meeting, with senior managers, production managers, and shift managers. 
Comprehensive and methodical yield capturing from both low & high risk environments. All yield data captured and reported back to the business in either a Power Point presentation / Excel Document with full yield benefits to the business. 
This can be a hard work culture to work within, and you need to be multi-tasked to complete many job functions.
With the demand of the company, current job projects, need to be prioritised, as many day's I will involve just job's, that take priority over current projects. 
I do get job satisfaction from my job, with new machinery / equipment has been commissioned and capex generated for the purchase of the new equipment, based on my trial findings, and yield benefits reported back to the business. 
I am a good communicator, and with my type of job, I need to be comprehensive organised to ensure I full fill my day to day projects in the time scales and dead line dates.

I started on the 8th of September worked one day. It was that bad.

 Dropped on the factory floor by my manager. No training given not shown any paperwork no understanding of the job at all. But expected to take responsibility such as signing documents. Health and safety the general stuff a team leader does. 12 hours stood in cold room trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do. 

The person trying to show me what to do on the line wasn't able to communicate with me due to very poor English. Next to no-one speaks any English at all. He wasn't a trainer or team leader just a staff member. 

How I am expected to perform in role under these conditions. 

Next issue some staff members get more PPE than others even though they work in the same exact area. Ear defenders for some none for others just basic ear plugs which I tested didn't do much in that environment to protect anyone's ears. 

Only certain members of staff get hard hats for what reason I can't see considering the low level machines which I bumped my head on multiple times moving around the very narrow paths and walk ways behind some machinery. 


I'll be asking for my old job back asap. Hopefully they'll give it me back.

The 4 days off is great. But you have to remember you have to work 4 days on too.

Long hours. 12 hour shifts but ends up as much as 14 hours instead due to demands. Managers don't appreciate your hard work and treat you like dirt.

It's a cold environment all round as handling meats. Health and safety is good. They accept anyone to work with them no matter what the background is.

Very fast paced working on a line. Packing as fast as possible ensure quality standards are met. Change over machinery for each product. Hold and packing raw meats. Getting covered in blood water and marinades as well as sauces. On feet all day. Expected to keep up with the machinery and orders even when machinery is broken down. A lot of pressure on the team leaders. Lifting, pushing and pulling heavy weights
