HR advisor in a call centre consultancy environment 

The good bits…
Pay- decent basic that is topped up by cross service commissions and profit share 
Very good training and onboarding process
They value experience as much as knowledge or qualifications
Some really good balanced HR professionals that you will learn a lot from in the team
Very good pay/stress ratio for the most part being consultancy you rarely take the work home with you 
Enjoyable work and growing company so there is some opportunity 

The not so good/watch outs 
Rigid approaches rather than common sense prevailing where sometimes it should - KPIS that work against each other, 5 days in office mandatory unless working out of office hours 
Management is a mixed bag but in my experience they can be inconsistent with overtime, flexible working requests and things like attending appointments can be made to feel difficult, also frustrating when inexperienced people mark the quality of your calls and nit pick, always when you are performing well in other none subjective areas
Twice annual salary reviews- they will rely on any clause they can to get out of it 
Did have huge retention issues causing a bit of a viscous cycle but this seems to have stabilised 
A lot of focus for wow moments or individual highlights ultimately for those that are loud about asking for a praise rather than recognising consistency across the board 
Very fine lines between not enough work to hit KPIS and too much to manage 

Still overall if you feel you can deal with and work around these points is a good place to work 


From far the worst company I have ever worked for.

First of all, the management is horrendous. Managers are only chosen for their good relationship with higher managers or directors but have no clue how to manage a team. The atmosphere at Croner is awful, managers have a bullying behaviour.

Their priority is about money. The atmosphere of competition between employees is the result of the sales focus environment, where you are forced to respect sales targets every day and will receive an email at the end of the day listing good sales people and bad ones. Everyone wants its commission including advisors. This becomes everyone's priority and not advising clients anymore. Company general meetings with directors will thanks and reward sales people and you will heard how much money is important.

They sack people and use poor excuses to cover their tracks. You will be made redundant and asked to leave in the middle of the afternoon in front of the entire open office. They will not respect the redundancy process as they want it to be quick, but will ask you not to complain if you want a reference to give to your future employer.

The turn-over is huge with new starters and leavers every week, and I can understand why. 

Stay away from this company if you want a healthy work environment. Unless you are adored by the directors you will not go far with Croner. 

To conclude, do not believe some of the good feedbacks that you can see on the website…

This company is such a mess. Directors don't care about staff and prefer to put money into sales. You will feel unwelcome and no one will help you if needed. They also make redundant people every month. They will do it in the most awful way and they will sack you in front of everyone and tell you to go home at the same time. Pretty bad for the HR and employment law company that always says to use 'good practice' and do at least 3 meetings for redundancy. Well... I believe this rule excludes Croner as they will say one day 'thank you please go home you're sacked' (not even joking here). And if you think that they make "stupid and lazy" staff redundant then you're wrong. People with masters and years of experience has been sacked. Most of the time if management mess something out and blame you for it. 

Also during my employment 3 managers (head of departments), 1 director and 2 people with 15 years of working there have resigned. Coincidence?  I think not.

To add in the end, there is so many people coming and going that you don't even know who's working where. There are at least 7 new starters every Monday to work in the same office, that gives us 7 people leaving Croner every week.

Now ask yourself. Is this company worth your time?

No management control. They say jump you say how high. Staff promoted that don't help. Glorified team leaders. Always drum down on negatives. They do not practice what they preach and run on the fine line of the law as they feel they are experts. They are the first to say a specific business is uncompliant but they don't do things compliantly either. Team leaders use bullying tactics.  Always recruiting have an office door that never stops spinning. Tell you that you have passed probation but don't pay you your increased salary. Take you on at one salary then advertise jobs six months later on 2k more. Won't match your salary to that as you signed up to a less salary even though you will have to carry most of the new starts target for the first six months. There BDM come and go like quickfire so don't expect to have one that is permanently yours as will probably leave,be pushed or be sacked.

AVOID AT ALL COST.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It’s awful! Toxic masculinity! If you look up Micro- management in the dictionary it says Croner. 
Run away! Do not pass Go! AVOID AT ALL COST!  Wolf in sheep’s clothing 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything -  but micro management takes the prize. Constantly bombarded and telling you what you should be doing- all day, everyday, throughout the day

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic! If you are not in the “Inner Circle Boys club” you better watch out you don’t get treated fairly. Do this or else…. Big Brother is keeping an eye on you

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Living torture. Your mental health will suffer, you feel anxious and stress is constant, the pressure is relentless.  Best part of a typical is day at Croner  is the end of the day

Having been with Croner for just over 3 years now, my experience with company so far has been a fantastic one. One of the things I noticed when I first started that still holds true to now, is just how helpful and friendly the staff are. They genuinely care, which is not always easy to find amongst other companies. They are always willing to help, and if they don’t know the answer, they will take you to someone who does! It really does feel like one big family. It’s a pleasure to be working within the Department that I do (Central Services) all of who I sincerely get on with and appreciate. Since the introduction of Peninsula, I think the company definitely got the boost it needed. The work is fast paced which keeps us all busy, knowing the customers and our team are happy by the end, makes it all worth it.

Really good place to work if you are willing to put the effort in required, if you want an easy office job with no targets then this is not for you. With it being a sales job, obviously its target driven which it seems some of the previous reviews do not seemed to have grasped. 

There are lots of bonuses working here, yearly trips to places like Miami, Dubai, Monaco, etc... Monday Breakfast club, 3 different incentives every week, including winning free lunch, £50 amazon vouchers and getting to go home an hour early.

The hours are 830am - 5pm, Monday to Friday which is very reasonable and the OTE is easily achievable. With it being a sales job, obviously stress comes with it but there is lots of support from the managers and other colleagues to help. 

I was happy and comfortable in a different role but when the opportunity to work at Croner presented itself, it was an easy yes.
My interview process was amazing. Brutally honest and completely transparent. Every promise made during the interview process has been kept so far!
No 2 days are the same but every day is unbelievably fast paced. 
I have been given trust, respect, freedom, autonomy and opportunities since day 1 with Croner. I truly believe you can learn and  achieve more in 1 year at Croner than you can in a decade somewhere else. 
Culture in HR Consultancy is amazing and it is clearly a priority for management. 
Hardest part of the job is keeping up with the fast-pace but the best part is how rewarding it is. 

Working on the advice line can be fast paced at times however it makes the day go so quickly and its great to work in such a supportive team who are on hand to bounce cases off of each other. You get true job satisfaction knowing you have supported clients through complex cases and taken the weight of their shoulders. Management are on hand to support the team and have done the job themselves so can 100% relate to us. There is a good balance of recognition and reward plus you have job security. 

Unbelievably long days and teams far too large to manage (18+). Management not interested in any suggestions that would make improvements for all; instead very small wins are lauded while the set response is "we don't  do that" or "it's not going to change".  Worse still, requests come in at short notice and are expected yesterday... you literally can't keep o top of everything. Staff are simply a commodity to be dismissed, morale shocking, micromanagement on a jaw-dropping scale. Seriously... take ANY other job.
