I completed a shift at the Deliciously Ella factory in Great Horwood through an agency, and unfortunately it was my first and last time there. The management and most of the staff came across as dismissive and unapproachable, which made it difficult to feel supported as a new worker.

For a factory environment, the operation felt very disorganised. I repeatedly had to ask where they wanted me and what tasks I needed to do, as there was no clear direction. I was also told off for wearing the “wrong footwear” for hygiene reasons, despite no suitable PPE being provided to replace them. Other agency workers on the same shift said they wouldn’t be returning either, which I think speaks volumes.

Overall, the workplace felt chaotic and not well managed, and the atmosphere was generally rude and unwelcoming. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this assignment.

Working at Deliciously Ella has been a refreshing experience. 

Communication to the team from management is fantastic, you are kept up to date on how the company is performing, new products in pipeline, any challenges being faced. You are really well informed on all aspects of the business. 

Everyone who works there believes in the meaningful mission of Deliciously Ella and all are genuinely passionate about what they do. 

My line manager is very supportive, understanding and approachable.

You can work from home 2 days a week and there is always lots of free snacks and food on offer.

They should treat people better and be respectful. The owner should stop recruiting people and give this task to someone else because he definitely doesn't know what he is doing. They do not have experience in hospitality.  They hired a lot of general managers without knowledge of vegan restaurants. You are working a lot of hours, and everybody hates this place. You can feel the vibe when you walk in. I don't recommend working in this restaurant and shame on you for treating people this way.

The support from management, senior management and other colleagues is great, there is a supportive, collaborative and positive culture. The company has a brilliant outlook and are very mission focused, it is inspiring to see the passion.

Lovely team that keep you informed throughout the interview process and keep you up to date of decisions relating to hiring at promised times. Regular feedback and check-ins with the team and management ensure open communication and opportunities to ask questions.

Really unhealthy work culture set by CEO. Employees are praised for working long and unhealthy hours which is deeply ironic given the messaging of the company.
