If Indeed would allow less than one star for ratings, that's what I'd be giving.
In all my years as a driver, I have never worked for such an incompetent company. The allocators couldn't care less about their drivers and will regularly stitch you up just so they can cover the rota's because their mismanagement has led to massive driver shortages.
The buses, oh yes, the buses! The fleet should have been in a scrapyard ten years ago, how on earth the DVSA allows these vehicles on a public road is a mystery. Badly maintained, breakdowns EVERY day, I kid you not. If you ring the office to complain about the demisters not working, it's YOUR fault because you were stupid enough not to know you need to bring a cloth to work.
The shift's are very long because they haven't got the driver's to cover the rota's, yet still they take on new routes despite being understaffed.
If you ring the office to say you need a replacement bus, on the off chance someone actually bother's to ANSWER the phone, you will be told there are no spare buses to give you and you will have to make do.
So in short, this company is the most clueless, uncaring excuse for a transport operator there has ever been, and if you have a shred of self respect, STAY AWAY.

Has great ambitions, high expectations but poor delivery for employees. Has fantastic potential but opportunity growth is very limited. Investment in clean energy future is based on uneducated guesswork and bound to fail unless proper scientific analysis of technologies is employed appropriately. Wages for drivers is based on weekly income competitor comparators than hourly earnings making them the lowest hourly-paid workers in the industry. I go not see this company progressing far once 2035 emissions regulations come into effect. Job security as a result is not good at all. Flexible working is a major issue among driving staff. Vehicles are very old and not even close to comfort of competitors. As a business, it appears type and ripe for acquisition by another larger company.
At £11.50/hr days & £12.50/hr free 8pm, it leaves much to be desired compared to Chaserider starting at £12.20 to £14. National Express start at £13.71 to £16+ with triple top-rate pay on public holidays.
Pay is the primary reason driver recruitment is a serious problem for Diamond. Potential for strike is extremely high. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
There isn't a best part for working for this company. The only time it improves is knowing its the last shift there. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
 Starting a normal long shift knowing at some point you  will be in a vehicle(s) breakdown and then having to battle with managements attitude. No thought for drivers or driving hours. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great environment if you like to feel belittled and bullied all the time. There's no support for staff. Attitude is very much if you don't like it you can leave. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
An extremely Long stressful day  sitting in uncomfortable seats, on vehicles that have seen better days, never knowing if your actually going to make the return route without an issue.

Diamond Bus wasn’t terrible to work for. Certain parts meant it was an unorganised mess and some duties were unbearably long for such low pay/appreciation. Being put on routes you have never covered. The buses need a lot of work engineer wise as it seems that most (not all) buses have a warning light of some kind or can’t hit 20mph up-hill.  Management were friendly most of the time but also didn’t act on their promises. They are more bothered about lost miles than the condition of the  vehicle covering a duty. 

Passengers were always nice and are also very understanding when you break down and acknowledge that it’s not your fault (as the driver)

Generally, the staff around you are quite friendly. 

I think if the duty length, Hourly Pay and vehicle condition improved. This company would be absolutely perfect and I think that they should cut ties with the Wrightbus manufacturer as their buses are quite frankly, uncomfortable and unreliable.

Only worked there for a couple of weeks, so I don't have much input to give sadly, but from what I can say about the place is from what I've been through with them.

The management get you into the company and are friendly towards you I won't lie, but that is when they see you, sadly your day will be on the road so there isn't much to say about them, on terms of helpful I would say slightly helpful towards there employee's.

The buses: I love driving large vehicles, so driving them was like second nature, yes there are some breakdowns, some greater than others, but at the end of the day they do come out to help you and sort it if they can.

Pay is slightly low, but no matter where you work it'll never be good enough in my opinion, but here you do at least get paid for what you work, unlike some companies (National Express West Midlands)

The duty board is set up stupid you have 10 minutes from town back to the depot that is so wrong.  When you get back you then have to fill out a form before cashing in the money that's been taken.  So you could be finished officially say at 1550 but still be at the depot for example at 1615 also you get taken off all your breaks and that's if you get the correct break times some companies take off you say 30 mins or 1 hour even if you have more.  Also taking over a bus could be anywhere you have to look for them then that makes a difference for leaving the bus stop not on time. Also when you get there in the morning they tell you that they've changed your duty and you are working longer than you expected. Also when you are trying to leave first thing in the morning you are messed up the way the buses are parked up and you have to look for them yourself. Do not bother.

Avoid this Place unless you are happy to be paid penny’s and be stressed out every evening and work every Weekend.
I spent 4 months hear and they was the worse 4 months ever.
I had to Work every Weekend on my own while the useless Lazy Supervisor has put himself on a Cushy Monday to Friday Shift and leaves you struggling every weekend.
There’s a reason this Job keeps getting advertised and I found that out the hard way.
You are never away on time(unless you are a Bone idle Supervisor) cause you are expected to stay and wait for the last late running Bus to return to the Depot.
As for wages they are never right and it’s a challenge in it self to be able to speak to anyone to correct them.
STAY AWAY!!!



From first phone call to assessment & interview Managers were nice & polite but before start day training Manager had lots of attitude & she was unwilling to help or answer any concerns.
No Route training, just showed few routes once & put u on the road, how is it possible to look at routes while in service, how can u drive & deal with everything & look at notes as well, 38-40 hour contract but they will call u for 12 hours with 3 hours unpaid break in between so altogether it will be 55 hours/week, also every now & then it will be split shift. First buses use to be really good but Diamond buses are all over the place.

If you want to be run into the ground, treated like something on the bottom of someone's shoe and generally have your will to live sucked out of you, then come to diamond!!

If you have a soul that you don't want destroying then avoid like the plague!! No recognition for good work or any effort to help them out, every little mistake punished, poorly organised, and they don't care about anything but the money. They would be more successful if they treated their staff with a little bit of decency and respect, but they don't. It's disgusting. The buses aren't maintained and not fit for purpose. They are unsafe, but if you refuse to take them out you get disciplined 

Once you've been through an intense training program you are expected to remember 18-20 routes after being shown them just once. Other drivers constantly moan. Some are OK but the majority whinge and whinge. Some for the sake of it and some with good reason. Rude public persons on the road in their cars, and as pedestrians and as passengers. Don't get me wrong some are polite. You are thrown out there way too soon. Still learning how to drive the bus and they ramp up the pressure each week, They expect you to know routes you were shown once about 2 months ago then suddenly spring them on you. I'm handing my notice in very soon as my doctor has diagnosed me with stress. Wish I had never applied for this job. Not for me
