I was hired as a backend developer, but the role quickly turned into a full-stack position that also included UI design, without prior discussion or adjustment in expectations.

There is an over-reliance on AI tools such as ChatGPT, even at the management and product-owner level. Requirements and technical direction are often shared via links to ChatGPT conversations rather than being clearly defined by leadership, which leads to confusion and poor decision-making.

The company does not value the expertise of the people it hires. Technical input is frequently ignored, and decisions are made without consulting developers who are expected to implement them.

There is no adherence to standard software development practices. As a result, projects become disorganized very quickly, timelines are unclear, and deadlines are either constantly missed or effectively meaningless.

The organization is set in outdated processes. Instead of using modern project-tracking tools like Jira, developers are expected to write weekly status reports, which adds administrative overhead without improving delivery or clarity.

Management consistently shows poor time management. Meetings often start late, run two to three times longer than scheduled, or are rescheduled after attendees have already joined and are waiting. This is a regular occurrence, not an exception.

Overall, there is a lack of respect from upper management toward employees, both in communication and day-to-day operations.

I strongly recommend avoiding this company.

Working at DNA Vetcare has been one of the most demoralising experiences of my career. The company talks about valuing staff, but the reality is very different. Staff wellbeing and fair treatment come second to profit.

Those who advocate for themselves are quickly marked as a problem and managed out. I saw several capable, hardworking colleagues pushed out simply for raising legitimate concerns about pay, workload, or basic standards. Staff turnover is high and morale consistently low which creates a stressful and disorganised working environment.

The workplace is heavily monitored by CCTV — not just for security, but to watch staff constantly, even during private conversations. It creates a culture of fear and mistrust. This level of surveillance is invasive and completely inappropriate in a professional setting.

Management is disorganised, dismissive, and detached from the day-to-day pressures staff face. Promises made during recruitment were not honoured, communication is poor, and support  virtually non-existent.

This is not a healthy or ethical place to work. I strongly advise avoiding this company unless serious changes are made.

Proudly independent, our directors are practising vets which means the company understands the day to day challenges we face. We are allowed to always go above and beyond for pets that need our help no matter what the circumstances are. I have been encouraged to grow within my role and have had the opportunity to advance my skills. It is very sad to see disgruntled previous employees using this and other forums to slate what is a great company with a big heart for patient care. We all know not everyone is suited to every job or company. DNA look after people who share the same passion for providing a professional caring practices for our customers and their pets which is very important to me as a RVN. Yes it is hard work, we are expected to work hard but reward and recognition will come as a result of your dedication.

I was a SVN who would be alone with three vets needing various assistance. They don’t hire vet nurses so you as a VCA or SVN are expected to do all nurse duties at a nurses standard with hardly an support. They force the vets to do consults all day long, many don’t have breaks because of the high work load. The managers have access to the diary so will open gaps that your team may have put in place for lunches etc. it’s all about making the most money not helping animals. They don’t pay overtime but make it impossible for you to leave ontime. They say you can just take those hours back on “quiet” days which do not happen so basically you work for nothing. The worse company I’ve ever worked for. 

I am coming up to my 7 year anniversary working for DNA Vetcare and intend to stay for the rest of my working life. My role within the company has changed and evolved and I feel hopeful that it will continue to do so. My directors have given me jobs within my role which are based on the skills and knowledge I have gained over my 20 years working within the veterinary industry.

My role is very flexible, I feel I am a trusted employee who works hard and gives her absolute all. My company have been incredibly supportive of both me and my family. 

Providing you work hard, you're honest and can work both individually and as a team... you will do well working for DNA Vetcare.

Rota allows for a good break if you'd had a busy week 
VCA's are helpful but need some phone training
Management team are approachable but can take a day or two to get back to you so be patient.   If more than 3 days I normally reminded them
Clients insured and they offer finance so fewer complaints than other groups I'd worked for
Excellent pay and CPD - flexible too
Yes, the hours are at times long but if you're a progressive professional, it's the rough with the smooth.  I progressed here and that's why I joined.
I ended up moving to Cornwall with my partner o'wise I'd still be there

 I was an SVN and RVN at this practice and left questioning why I wanted to be an RVN in the first place. The way I was treated nearly ruined me but luckily I’ve moved on. 

It was busy and I got to see a lot of interesting cases. I did have some good times there and cared for some amazing animals. However, there were a lot more cons than pros. I was overworked, stressed all the time, and often went home crying as I didn’t feel I could cope with the demanding workload. 

Personally, if you value your self-esteem and self-worth, please stay away. 


The managers listen to your phone call every single day (is it for the purpose of improving customer service?). They check the CCTV and told me someone is on their mobile phone all day long. 
The manager also ask you to fill out a form call “time and motion”, they want to know what you are doing in the hours you are supposed to be working. They will questioned you why it takes half an hour to take bloods from the animal even if the animal is aggressive. 
They claimed they are “independent” and they “independently” bought out so many practices in the London. 
They send you to different practices in the same day without offering compensation for the travel. 

I started my experience at manor vets chatham as a work experience student when I was 15. Including this work experience I have been with manor vets for 7 years in total!, They helped and supported me throughout my student veterinary nurse training, and have continued this support through my first year of qualifying. So far I have had a very positive experience with the company. They are helpful and supportive with further education such as CPD and certificates! I work with an amazing team of people who are very productive but also we have fun and laugh while working. Very happy with my placement.

Since starting work at DNA in August I have progressed so much with the support and encouragement from coworkers and management. I started with no Experience working in a veterinary practice to now being very confident in my daily roles and routines with goals of studying and becoming a veterinary nurse myself. The team are amazing I’ve made some incredible friendships and I couldn’t ask for anything more with management they’re incredible role models to the team and push me every day to improve and advance my knowledge and skills.
