What is the best part of working at the company?
There's a lot of variety in my role and my favourite part of the job has been being able to go out into communities and meet real people who have benefited from our work. 


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It was an intense start as someone who hasn’t worked in the industry before—  you have to be very adaptable and able to learn quickly as it is a fast-paced environment. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
My role is quite unique in that I work with people at different levels all across the business and I’ve found everyone to be helpful and easy to get along with. The sort of people you can have a laugh with, and lots of people went above and beyond to help me settle in when everything was new to me. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I work mostly from home (which is unusual at Dodd Group) but still get to enjoy being part of a really nice team who look out for each other, with a manager who trusts me to get along with my work and who has been very supportive both when I’ve needed help at work and with navigating bereavement in my personal life. I am often working on lots of different projects at once with different teams, so there is always something new to learn.

Work and pay are great, workload is manageable and ok. Manager and supervisors are good.
Vehicle is main concern, constantly breaking down, was supplied damages and in a very bad condition, no air con a very basic bottom of the range van, speed limiter is dangerous as I do a lot of motorway travel and not reach the legal speed limit of the vehicle, get stuck behind lorry’s and do not have the power or speed to over take which is stressful, 2 times the lack of speed have almost caused me to have an accident where I could if sped clear of a vehicle or accelerated around a Hazzard I feel the vehicle is dangerous when restricted by such an extent 70mph limit would be much safer. The lack of air on in the summer is shocking on a 3 year old vehicle. Adding to 3 breakdowns, serviced and returned with same problems fleetmanagement  need to look into this. As a highly skilled and experienced engineer this is  the worse vehicle I have had in my career. The whole team complain too.  To keep good staff a decent safe and reliable  work vehicle is a must.

Very poor management and incompetent supervisor running the contract. Office staff also unnaprochable and arrogant. Any issues raised with management were never sorted. No health and safety training and a very poor induction i was rushed out within hours of starting with false promises made from the start. They basically needed someone to work straight away as the only 2 guys on that contract had left in the same time period. The turnover of staff on this contract was a joke. I was ill for a period of 2 days which i wasnt payed for as you dont get payed for any sick days, i still had to send in proof of this and my manager wasnt happy that he had to re arrange a few jobs due to a illness which was unavoidable. There is absolute no trust what so ever. The office staff, managers and supervisors are a little team and the guys out there working are made to feel seperate. Towards the end i was made to feel pressured coming into work daily literally walking on egg shells and made to feel i was no good at a job i had been doing for over 10 years to a good standard.

Housing association contract but unlike most expect top notch work which in all fairness you are given the time to carry out. Frustrating if you are good and quick at what you do and carry out jobs to the high standard in half the time expected for no extra reward. Finish jobs early and you get giving extra work but no extra wage. *(what's the point). Unable to finish once jobs complete even if your done a 2 day job in one day as on trackers.. call out great in winter when you have plenty of calls as you get paid per call but in summer very poor standby equals less then £2.00 an hour for 24hr period ..immediate managerment / supervisors and other engineers very competent and a pleasure to work with..

My role at Dodds was as an electrician, working in domestic, commercial and industrial environments.
Domestically the scope of works included rewires, consumer unit upgrades, smoke and fire alarm installation, fault finding and rectification, inspection and testing.
Commercially the work varied from small shop fitting to commercial units, rewires upgrades and testing and inspection.
Industrial included the installation of motors, single and three phase installations.
I was working within a team that varied between each job and its scope, the managers kept us informed of any changes to the schedule.
I enjoyed all the work and roles I had whilst employed and the other electricians I worked with taught me many things, tricks of the trade. 
I was employed for several years before being made redundant.

End of the day we got to work to work. Never short of work. 

Work van provided, paid jib rate which is what they state.

Manager that I'm working under is brilliant, every Monday , work load and material is sorted for the week. Any changes I get notified straight away via phone call and email. 

Skips provided in office to off load from van weekly so it is always organised. Co Workers are good and supportive. PDA is a bit slower to submit work (test certificates) but it's all very professional. 

Downside, if you don't work up to speed you can't leave until it's done and it could mean extra 3 hours over and of course it's a problem if you have kids. ( Still get paid over time )

Constant fights with management over simple matters. Very little work to do and when there is a job there are so many hurdles put in your way that it's often impossible to do it. Getting them to order what is required for a job is very difficult but they soon moan when the job isn't done because it reflects on them. They don't care whatsoever about the individual as all that matters is money. Don't even try to submit an expenses claim as you won't be reimbursed either. They expect you to fill your day with jobs so you have to make up the times to try to show that you were busy when you were actually sitting around bored for most of the day.

Dodds has got to be the most accommodating place that I have ever worked, they really make you feel like a person rather than a number.

The managers are great and pretty easy to talk to if you have any issues and will treat you as you treat them, iv never had any problems within my work or personal life where I haven't felt comfortable talking to my manager.

The private Bupa health care benefit is a fantastic bonus and iv used it a number of times.

Occasionally there is a little bit of miscommunication between the different groups, but that is to be expected with so much going on and the pace at which thing move.

Worked for the company for 5 years, job is good if you like a monotonous role that means you can book the times you want to work except if an emergency call out occurs. The focus is way to much on paperwork and kpi attendance rather than the actual job itself. only a tiny wage increase in that time despite taking on a lot more duties and working on equipment that was not really in my job description. No training despite the promises every year. Direct management is terrible but other departments were much better in that aspect.

A management team full of bullys, who do not care for their workforce. Unrealistic KPI's and an extremely stressful environment. You do not get given the tools to complete your job and are shouted at when you cannot do a job. They treat staff so badly and promotion is non existent. If you have any issues, you're told you cannot raise them because you're not area management level or above. Company discriminate anyone who is out of the "norm".  You are underpaid and have no benefits. A truly horrible place to work.
