Working at FM Conway has been an experience characterized by a stark contrast between the quality of the work itself and the challenges posed by the management and company culture.
The work we do at FM Conway is undoubtedly exceptional. The projects we undertake are not only impactful but also executed with a level of dedication and precision that is truly commendable. It is a privilege to work alongside colleagues who are not only highly skilled but also deeply passionate about their roles. The collective commitment to excellence and the desire to deliver results are qualities that set the people at FM Conway apart.
However, the same cannot be said about the work environment and company culture at the Midlands yards (North Kilworth/Sandy), primarily due to issues stemming from management practices. One of the most frustrating aspects has been the lack of effective communication and transparency from the management team. It often feels like we are operating in the dark, struggling to comprehend the company's long-term vision and strategic direction. This lack of clarity has repercussions at all levels of the organization, making it difficult for employees to align their efforts with the company's goals.
Furthermore, the decision-making process within the management team is a source of consternation. It seems inconsistent and, at times, arbitrary. Employees often find themselves bewildered by the rationale behind certain decisions, which can lead to confusion and hinder our ability to work efficiently and make progress on important projects.
Equally concerning is the management's approach to employee concerns and feedback. There is a noticeable lack of responsiveness and a reluctance to address critical issues in a timely and constructive manner. This creates an environment where employees feel their voices are not heard, and legitimate concerns are brushed aside. Consequently, this has eroded morale among the team, leading to a pervasive sense of frustration.
The presence of passive-aggressive behavior among management has created an atmosphere of tension and uncertainty within the organization. Employees often find themselves navigating subtle and indirect forms of communication, which can lead to misunderstandings and a lack of clarity in expectations. 
Additionally, the management's penchant for micro-managing has been detrimental to our productivity and job satisfaction. It has led to a perception that our skills and expertise are undervalued, and our ability to make independent decisions is limited. This micro-management not only stifles creativity but also erodes trust between employees and management.
In conclusion, FM Conway's potential for excellence remains undiminished. However, addressing the issues related to communication, transparency, decision-making, responsiveness, passive-aggressive behavior, and micro-management is critical to creating a more productive and harmonious work environment. With these improvements, FM Conway can harness the full potential of its talented workforce and maintain its reputation for exceptional work in the industry. Despite these management challenges, the dedication of the team and the value of the work we undertake at FM Conway remain commendable.








Got an interview with this company whilst I was living away. Flew in for the interview job role: Operative. Was given so many promises. i.e. Vehicle, living and higher salary after probation. I left my country came in for the job, to find out that I have to find a place to rent myself and had to buy a vehicle also myself as the department I was working for didn't even bothered to find one for me. So 2 lies so far... After my probation period I had a talk with my boss who's always in the office and has no clue what is happening on the site, so there's miscommunication all the time. So he tells me that I'm not good enough and expands my probation for another 3 months. I told him that: 'Look I don't mind about the payment, but it's just nothing that we talked in the beginning, just give me weekends and double shifts' I didn't mind to do the hours because I left my family back home, just wanted to save as much money as possible. I was earning about 2k after tax, which wasn't that bad, but I had to  buy a car, pay all the taxes, insurance, plus rent.... so it all added up to quite a big amount and money I was sending home was pennies. So after all that talk with my boss, he promised to give me double shifts and over time, which never happened. So I stayed for another 3 months in the company still giving hopes that it will change, I asked to be moved to other departments it also didn't happen I was told that our boss hates when people move from that department so I was left with no other way. Overall I heard that other departments are different and better, but I believe I just got into wrong one and I ended up loosing 6 months of my daughters life which I wasn't involved in. She was only 4 months old when I left. That is the biggest pain for me. I wouldn't wish this situation to my biggest enemy, it was just a terrible, terrible experience. I'm glad I'm back.

My advise: Don't trust a single promise this company makes :)

Driving class 2 lorry cleaning road side gullys, displace rain water with gully truck. Which has sucksion and jetting capabilitys.. May get a call out at sometime though out the day. As I've just started I am still learning about the job. In joying it very much my management team are very understanding that I'm inexperienced in the role and are very helpful. The workplace culture with the job is what I expected a very welcomeing and understanding group of people that are very helpful. The hardest part of the job is maybe the tablet work but they understand it takes a little time to get the hang of it. But it's not hard once you have got used to it. So far I was so glad that I've had the opportunity to learn something new at this stage in my life I'm enjoying the job and want to play as a major part of the team..that they can depend on 

The worst company I’ve ever worked for. The management don’t have a clue and if your face doesn’t fit, they’ll do anything they can to sack you. The equipment consists of old iPads that don’t work properly, the vehicles are all unroadworthy in their own way and the unqualified supervisor will attempt to bodge fix them to save cost on qualified mechanics. The job is all numbers/target driven and if you aren’t getting your numbers but have a genuine reason why you haven’t they don’t care. Certain people are treated very differently and favoured to others. No one turns up to work on time and as you work as a pair, if you want to get out early and get back early, forget it. There is plenty more I could say, but I’d be writing all day and all night. You deserve better, avoid this place like the plague.

My Position as commercial assistant covered three divisions, which were Traffic Management, Water Drainage Management and Drainage Treatment Plant.
The duties included:
•	Cost captures for invoicing 
•	Applications for payment 
•	Monitoring and creating Accruals and WIP
•	Month end preparation
•	Supporting the Contract Management team
•	Recharges of internal cost
•	External invoice preparation 
•	Raising, tracking and receipting orders 
•	Early Warnings and compensation events
•	Supporting Director with organisational matters. 

Everyone working for FM Conway, were helpful and enjoyable to be around.

The hardest part of the job was over month end accounts, this was because I had to spend time reconciling, accruing cots and imputing WIP. Whilst keep my daily tasks up to date.

FM Conway treat their Clients with utter disdain and squeeze every penny they can due to the appalling schedule of rates they agreed to.  Basically they buy the contract then force employees to find any avenue of revenue they can. Supervisors are forced to exert tremendous amounts of pressure on their workforce because of the Financial constraint on the business. The management structure is very poor and  abuse their position. The company is now in a period of  contraction after years of rapid growth and many good people lost their jobs in the last six months. Newham and  Camden were both lost due to mis-management and Southwark and Westminster are both on the verge of collapse. I foresee many more redundancies in the future.

The job is good but you're not told exactly what is expected of you, so you do what you thought was correct and then they pull you in the office and told your doing wrong. I was trained in using the equipment properly and passed the training. You can use the equipment before the training but always supervised. Management at the Winchester site don't drive hgv 2 and didn't always listen to driver's. Management in Winchester have excellent numbers on the amount of work done and profit made so head office leave them alone and don't see the real problems. All the other people working here are helpful and made it fun to work here. The hardest part of working here was the management and the best part was the other drivers. 

I enjoyed working at Conways.
A typical day would be dealing with works going out on the road, getting any plant and dealing with any problems.
I have learnt about the needs of both masons and tarmac teams the different types of plant and uses.
Both my manager and co workers were respectful I was the computer operator and they were the mechanics we helped each other with our queries.
The job was just baic office work I did not find anything that hard other than when I was in the office on my own with 4 phones all ringing at the same time.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the meeting and dealiong with a large variety of people both internal and external.

Working for this company started well; for the first few months.  Then it became clear that this "Family Run" company does what many "families" do and sweeps its problems under the carpet.

Supervisors are underhand and sly and are trained as such.

Management are more concerned with there pay grade rather than the staff working under them.  If you like working in a clicky environment where people back stab then this is the place for you.

From the outside this company is all shiny and lovely but you don't have to scratch the surface much to see; that they squeeze every last piece from you with no regard for your wellbeing then discard you.

Since joining the company around 10 months ago I have enjoyed myself more and more each day. My team is so collaborative, hard working and all about team work. My manager is supportive, open and a great teacher. My division is fun and welcoming.
The role is busy and there is always something to do, with every action I know I am helping the business move towards its goal
The opportunities for development are excellent, free online and class room training is always available. 
Overall I really enjoy my job and would recommend Conway and more specifically roles in Central Services.
