A typical day at work is a 7.00 am start where i go to peoples homes and provide personal care, administer medication, provide fluids and nutrition and promote and maintain well being.
In this job, you are constantly learning, and evolving as a person, the main thing this job has taught me, is life is short and to make the most of what we have here and now. I have started to use things that i have always saved for special occasions like glasses and dinner services as i bought them to enjoy them, instead of enjoying them once a year, i enjoy them every day.
 i have excellent relations with my co workers as i work on a double round where my co worker is important and we have to have a high level of working relations to get the job done effectively. 
The hardest part of my job is not being able to help someone who has lost mental capacity and there requests have to be declined as it would put them in danger and become a health and safety risk for all involved as in the client, my co worker and myself. 
The most rewarding part of this job is knowing that in some way i have brought them dignity, happiness, and increased there quality of life in the time that i have spent with them, and listened to some amazing story's which they may not ever have been able to tell there family as they no longer have any kin.

On a daily basis I use written and communication skills, deal with finances, partake in various activities, improve cooking skills and occasionally have to be very quick thinking in emergency situations.
I have learnt how to run a house, budget, communicate better and become more aware of disabilities and how they can affect people.
I have found that there can be a turnaround of management, but a structured system is in place.
I have been lucky to work with the same team now for approximately 2 years. We each know our own skills, and work together well as part of a team. We do have to make quick decisions and this means working with our own initiative, which can be occasionally or several times a week.
Certain behaviours which are displayed can be challenging, and sometimes i feel appropriate support and/or training is not provided to staff.
Knowing you make a difference to peoples lives, enhancing their skills and enjoying many activities with them is very satisfying.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Work on the mental health/ Reablement service and partly on the domiciliary which I have some knowledge about. The passion for caring and seeing the service users happy and able to start their day and end their day amazingly. Give them the assurance they can do things which they use to do before. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working with Guardianhome care is the most stress free organisation, the assessibilty and responsiveness are swift. The organisation is very coordinated and open for your to learn more from it professionalism. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The environment is very accommodating and conducive for beginners and professional in health care professions. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everyday is not an exception for all. Carers have a large obligation to keep the services user right on their care visits. Ensuring that the support and service are good and supportive.

I’ve worked in care/ support for a lot of years and guardian are by far the best I’ve ever worked for. They’re very accommodating, compassionate towards staff and understanding. They do their best to give hours to suit you but this isn’t 100% possible all the time (understandable) it’s important to note that there’s 2 management’s for this company. Domicilary and LD (learning disabilities) I work for the LD side and the management there are fantastic. Domicilary are unorganised,  rude and lack compassion for their staff team. That side of the company needs to majorly improve. But my personal experience of working within the LD team I cannot fault. Whenever I’ve needed time off they’ve gone above and beyond to accommodate me and check that I am actually ok. They do look after their staff as they know as front line if we’re not ok then the service users won’t be. 

Only took me about a month from start to finish with this company, training was great, 3 days and covered absolutely everything I needed to know. Problem was that I had the most up to date training compared to people who'd worked there for years. Quite a lot of them needed the updated training but the office didn't deem that nessasery. Enjoyed the work in general, great service users. Co-workers not so great. Last thing was the timing, you'd have to walk 20 min distance from one visit to the next. With not even a minute of spare time so a half hour visit turns into a 10min call as uve lost 20 min just getting there. When you pay to have a carer for 30minutes and only get 10 with them you can imagine the annoyance. 

I have worked at Guardian for over 14 years, and there have been lots of changes; most of them for the better.
Clear rolling rotas are a big plus, as well as every other weekend off. No pressure to work any more shifts then you want.
Work placements are at houses you feel comfortable and can bring something to the service users life's and not just filling spaces in the rotas.  

Service users are regularly asked what staff they get on with and if any problems and very much person centered support.

The working environment I'd definitely a non-toxic staff culture with everyone getting on. The office staff are always friendly and able to offer advice as well as being very approachable.

One day you will be doing 30 calls, leaving the house at 7 and not getting back till 10, no breaks.
One day you will have 5 calls and literally no point going out as you will be driving for longer then you are actually on the calls.
Zero hour contract.
Mileage unpaid.
Induction week unpaid.
Emails to office ignored the majority of the time.
After doing 30 hours of shadowing, you are put out on your own even though in induction time, we got told shadowing will last until you say you feel comfortable.
Other care workers are brilliant and massive help! Especially Marcia!
Overworked, underpaid.
Do NOT work here unless you do not want a life outside of work.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Meeting and looking after clients in their own home and creating a good rapour with them and their families. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You are constantly being asked to work on a daily basis. Constantly ringing and texting you even on your days off or on sick. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good as your out and about to different clients. Also work alone. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start at 7am and finish about 6.15pm. Have as many clients between 16-20 clients a day. Don’t always get your entitled breaks.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They are understanding and do their very best to make sure you as a carer are feeling good mentally due to more often then not bein a lone in this type of job

Not having enough staff and not bein able to take time off enough due to shortage of carers

Very good culture wise environment is good to easy going and relaxed

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Can be busy but rewarding always feel happy to work with clients in their homes

Having worked for guardian for over 4 years, I love the service users that I go too. I love working close to home and the flexibility of the work is great. However,  the management do not care about their staff, they do not care about their service users. They put impossible runs on you, with many overlapping or being at the same time as each other and they are completely unhelpful when trying to rectify their awful coordinated rotas. And when you complain, they take work off you. They have ruined what was a lovely place to work.
