Wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone to work with/work for.

Management do nothing but sit at their desk then blame team, no incentives, rewards or praise. 

Every person who is invited into the office is spoken rudely about when they leave the office, candidates who apply for the job are looked up on Facebook and the office is asked first if they are known before they consider them. 

Sexist, Racist and homophobic in the office and work with companies who are like that too. 

Promote bullying and talk about higher management behind their backs then blame it on other ‘Hales’ offices.

Very rude and horrible staff who have groups within the business,  the pay is awful as well for the area and no parking included at any branch. No safety or care for their staff at all.

You are expected to work long hours with no overtime pay or time back, expected to not take your full lunch break and expected to cover out of hours phone on holidays. Management actually said this to myself.

The commmsion scheme isn’t fair and they take the money away from you so have no commission or prizes at all.

DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY EVEN IF YOU ARE DESPERATE

The service users were genuinely lovely, but you're not likely to be allocated enough time per call, nor enough travelling time, the meds training was poor, the mileage rate was only 15p per mile, and there was a reluctance for my managers to get involved when I reported concerns regarding service users' safety. Claims for extra time spent with service users had to be put on an additional timesheet. I never got paid for any extra time and I think my branch office must have thrown my extra timesheets away. I had to use my personal mobile phone and was not reimbursed. I had to chase holiday pay and, after I left, the office agreed that I had been paid at the wrong rate.

There was an attempt to achieve a work/life balance by having a rota that meant you worked Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday one week, and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday the following week. You were expected to work normally if your workdays coincided with Christmas. 

If you live in a town and don't drive, they might try to create a round that you can walk round. If you can only work, eg. three nights a week, I think they would try to be flexible with that as well.

I was with Hales for about 2 years. The staff out giving the care are mostly good, but the office staff are underhand, lie, and cannot do the job to any standard. They left my book at another service users house with all my details on show, my key code, my controlled medication etc. They did not sack the staff member and made out that it was not a big deal. My calls were often only covered my 1 staff and not 2 like in my plan. They did'nt even ask my husband and when we complained Zoe said that she does'nt have to ask. He should just do it. I would not let Hales look after my dad or anyone that cannot fight for themselves. They are a company who are not bothered about the service users. They think it's ok for a morning shower breakfast call to end at gone midday. I am diabetic and wheelchair dependant need my calls at 8.30 9.00am not 11am. They even said it's either 1pm or no care.. This is disgusting care from what I hoped would be a good firm. They are a joke and until they get new office staff this disfunctional company will carry on.

Terrible company to work for!!!  Avoid at all cost, it isn't worth the stress, terrible pay and the way you get treated.  The ONLY good thing about working for them was the lovely service users that you got to meet and make a difference in their lives. 
The management was terrible, seniors think it's OK to swear at carers when you challenge traveling times or work loads. You are sometimes expected to work from 6.30am till 10.30pm without a break. Mileage rates are a joke, they say you get 10p per mile, but they work out how many miles you are supposed to do. I was racking up 100 miles per day, 4 days per week and only receiving £7 a week for that,  so someone in payroll is obviously very bad at maths!!!!
 Overall if you work out the hours you are actually working minus the amount of petrol you use/get paid for, you are actually working for around £4 an hour!!! So if you are happy to get less than minimum wage, be treated like garbage and are happy to see elderly and vulnerable adults treated badly and stolen from by inexperienced other carers then this is the job for you.

The initial training at hales is great, very in depth however slightly scripted in how you must approach situations.
They are a very 'High Street' agency and need to understand not every business wants to deal with an agency and their fees are not competitive or realistic for small/ large companies.
The typical day consists on continually working yourself to the maximum to reach unrealistic targets/ expectations set by management and feeling stressed.
A lot of the teams feel the same as each other, regular discussions about stress, lots of tears and a common feeling as though the mental wellbeing is low. Staff turnover is high.
They put this down to recruitment being like 'marmite' however, nobody actually believes this.
There appears to be lots of incentives, but these are very repetitive.
There is a clear line between management and 'underdogs'.
The most important people in the company are the highest billers, they see people as money and fail to see people for their potential.

This has to be the worst care company i have ever worked for in the whole time i have worked in the care industry! Long hours meaning being at the first clients house for 6am an leaving the last clients house about 10pm with only an hours break thats even if your lucky enough to get one unless youve been harrased by the office asking to fit in extra clients, 5 minutes travel time to get where ever you have to be! managment sit in the office moaning about all there staff, are sooo very rude. i actually became ill with depression due to things happening at home told them this an as i wasnt returning to work the next day i got almost 20 missed calls off the on call phone up till 11pm at night on my night off!!! they dont care about there staff. even all the clients moan about the office they always say they cant fault us lot out there doing the work but cant stand the office staff. will never recommend anyone to this company.

The people that work at Hales Group are a nice bunch of people, always friendly and happy to talk to you about anything. As its an agency, there was quite a few occasions that work was very short notice, so no day was ever the same. The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing what a difference I was making to the people that I took care of, giving them the chance to smile when they had nobody else to do it. 

There was a few occasions where there was a lack of communication between people, such as being sent on a shift that had already been cancelled but not finding out until I arrive, or being sent to do the wrong shift, going to certain places and being expected to do tasks I hadn't been trained to do. 

overall it is a good company to work for, there may be things that need to be worked on but every thing needs tweeks every now and again.

Ok so up until this year i thought i would never find a care service as bad as this company, but shockingly i did honestly hales seem like a dream.
I had a bad experience and wouldn't recommend them.
you don't have regular shifts.
Live in carers are told they will have the same client and never do i have 10 different clients in a few months,

I had a problem with a client he was very nasty and i rung up 3 times in tears and it was blamed on my lack of training and how i shouldn't of been there in the first place.(Why put me there then but yet the family all said what a wonderful job i did even though i had a mental break down)
They put me on the travel scheme when i didnt drive and i had problems getting it.
Refused to pay me the correct hoilday pay 
Was promised £500 plus a week and only got £300

I have been a Co-Ordinator in the Ipswich branch for 3 years and was a carer for Ipswich Hales for 1 year before applying for the co-ordinator position. I have enjoyed every second of working for Hales, my manager does everything to support me with my work and home life. I thought returning to work after having a baby and having a year off would be really difficult however I have been amazed how smoothly and easily I have been brought back into work and the support I have received. Our workplace culture is fantastic! I feel that all our office staff and care workers all get along and do as much as we can to help each other out.
I would highly recommend working for Hales homecare Ipswich!

Get your family away if they have Hales! Carers are wonderful office staff are cruel abusive and corrupt they will abuse family members on the phones secretly they abuse their own staff.
This company needs closing down especially Lowestoft and Norwich branches.
Nothing is confidential and if you whistle blow to the highest people it comes straight back down to your manger and you then lose your work become bullied and dragged in the office and abused by regional managers. who reduce you to tears whilst abusing you as a person. 
Elderly people are left with no calls. Some have been found days after and rushed to hospital. 
Management needs sacking. This company does illegal things and gets away with it.
