A typical day at work would relate to the usual morning ritual of greeting the individuals within the small workplace, then straight away getting on with the work at hand. I've learned that splitting different tasks given to account their strengths and weaknesses, each member of the team had the easiest possible role adjusting that they knew that they could handle it through the fact they it was within their strength of knowledge of the subject task. Management of the team was a democratically as viewed by me personally, because if anyone had an opinion on something relating to the work given, the manager would make time to listen and respond with an acceptable reply. My co-workers were by far the most polite, considerate and hard working people I have ever known so far inside a workplace, they had passion and a personal drive to complete work, which eventually rubbed off onto me making me a compatible workmate. The hardest part of my job at, Harrison Spinks is what normally comes as an arduous task for any new employee, starting and adapting to a new job as fast and efficient as possible. As the most enjoyable part however was getting to know my team on a personal level to make a friendship out of the numerous employees within the group.  

I started as a Warehouse Operative for the company, everything was going great for for the 3 month training. After the training you had a broader idea of how the company was dealt with by management, your safety at the company was like walking on thin ice because there was no room for error even in training, they also got rid of employees like they were going out of fashion, the management were not fair and there was an on going in warehouse conflict between day and night shift arguing who is better. I work on the night shift and every night i came to work i had news from my supervisor telling me that they are making 'changes'. turns out management only ever see day shift work so they were believed about what they had said, so it came out there was a whole scheme to eradicate night shift for good 'but days had enough lads in there team'. so a company fed on lies and fools running it. other than that pays good!

2022- The country is plunged into the biggest cost of living crisis in generations.
Newspapers warn that even enhancement of annual pay rises won't be able to keep up with the rate of inflation.

Harrison Spinks (a company that has never given its workforce an annual pay rise)- "We're laying you off for all of next week, with only statutory lay-off pay. Next month we're changing your shift pattern, so you'll lose 50% of your days off, have to pay an extra 50% in fuel, and lose most of your shift allowance, which will mean a take-home pay cut of around 20%. This is what's best for everyone. Oh, and the staff in Leeds are having a late Xmas party, with disco, buffet, and free bar."

No Harrison Spinks. What's best for the workforce at this site is to find a better firm to work for, where they're not treated as second class distant cousins of Head Office.
Once everyone else has left, you'll save even more money in wages, and energy bills.
Might be tricky trying to make mattresses with no wire for your springs though, so best of luck with that!

I hear there was a rough patch with head office last year, but that must of been fixed, cos it's a good place to work now.
12hr shifts Mon-Thurs, so 48hrs basic pay a week, and 3-day weekends. Extra pay for doing nights every other week.

Site manager knows his stuff, and is getting lines improved. Doesn't run the place like a boot camp, meaning you can focus on learning the job, without feeling under a ton of pressure. 
Shift supervisors are hard workers, helpful, don't talk down to you, and give credit where it's due- makes a nice change from most places! 

Operators are friendly, and there's usually a good atmosphere on the lines.
Only downer is the minority of staff who obviously think they should of been promoted, so they spend all shift bigging themselves up, and trying to undermine the people who's jobs their after. 

Over all though, one of the better places I've been, good people to work for, and (mostly) good people to work with. 

The current Management are Donkeys.
The Management are all inept and have no respect for the workforce and treat them with disdain constantly trying to make them do more while trying to cut their wages.
The only way to get on at this company is by sleeping with or being related to one of the Management and then skills for that certain job don't come into it.
I often find with Management the only thing They know about work, is how to talk about it, most of them cant even get Their hands out of Their pockets and this is especially true at this company.
Health and Safety is non existent unless its something They can Give You a Warning for.
All in This is a Terrible place to Work.
I am amazed the uniforms don't have Arrows on them as the Workforce are treated like Prisoners.
After 6 months I walked as I could not take any more

A typical day at Harrison Spinks would be start at 6.00am at your work bench producing high quality work and attention to detail.But the rewards would be good you would be on a hourly rate plus a bonus scheme which was highly rewarding.I worked on a machine and had to maintain my machine to keep up with production all day.We never finished at normal time which was 2.15pm which i never minded as i loved the overtime.At the end of the shift we would clean our work area and oil and maintain our machinery.

I've worked for Harrison Spinks for two years, In that time they have trained me as a wire drawer, I have done my FLT course, first aid and fire warden course. We had to change shift pattern because of company needs but once they had, given a pay rise we only work a 4 days a week and have a long weekend for the same money, we also have perks, Christmas party with wine, chocolates and clothing, company shop, bike to work scheme, full work wear others things. people are great and we all get along.

The management team at the Oakwood give Harrison spinks a bad name they are unreasonable bullies

Management team and nowhere to go with any grievances

Toxic and unfair and difficult

Stressful and overwhelming it has a massive affect on your mental health

Was a good place to work.But nowadays  the new management  as made it terrible to get out of bed and turn up.Same as many big companies.Two many  chiefs not enough Indians.Out for what they  can get.and eventually when they gone.the atmospheres  as left  the work force in meltdown how they  be treated. So many long term employee have gone and found better employment .Take advicennnnn.elsewhere.Reason as stated above.Turn over off staff terrible.

Badly run by management who never lasted long . An old building where in summer was like working in a furnace, and in winter it was like working in Siberia. 
Machine constantly at fault and not running most of the shifts.
The company would lay you off with as little as a weeks notice and change your working pattern and loss of money even when life isn't hard enough with rising costs .
This career job ended up just becoming just a "job"!
