Avoid. Management is poor, and use bullying tactics as a means to scare employees. About 50% of the workforce have mental health problems due to fear of losing their jobs because they’re constantly watched via CCTV and told off for talking too much, going to the toilet too much, walking too slow, working too slow - and then the owner will haul them out of their dept in front of fellow employees, parade them through the factory like a naughty school kid and then passively aggressively talk to them like they’re beneath him and threaten them with loss of their job, so they comply. Everybody dreaded the phone ringing and then being told “ CEO wants to see you in the boardroom”, most people walk on eggshells but put up with it because production staff are quite friendly and the work isn’t bad. It’s repetitive and would be great if there was any chance to progress, but it rarely comes to fruition. There is always talk of “A better Holroyds” but it never pans out and workers are left wondering why they work so hard for a man that treats them so poorly. A fancy Christmas party, a day out at the cricket and a birthday card with a tenner inside doesn’t make up for the rest of the year when work feels like school and he sucks all the goodness out of it. I also witnessed a lot of the part-time staff being treated badly, even though they worked just as hard as us full timers. 
The HR department is a joke, they do not work on behalf of the employee, it is a farce - private information will frequently be left laying around for office staff to view, or will be gossiped about when dealing with other employees with concerns as a bonding and trust method.  
Overall the factory staff are lovely and work so hard, and take pride in their work, but the owner and the management spoil it with gossiping, tyrannical behaviour and favouritism to a few and stonewalling when you try to raise a concern or an issue. Work here if you do not value your mental health, self respect and dignity because all will be tested beyond measure. 

When i started i believed there were plenty of opportunities, everyone supported each other and it was a good place. As time went on this changed; there were definite favourites in areas with others left aside, ignored or even excluded. The opportunities i was made to believe were there never appeared and those who were moved up were questionable. I voiced concerns often and suggested areas that could be improved for a happier/better environment but nothing was ever done; it seemed to fall on deaf ears. If anything it got worse so that it felt easier to leave than to keep waiting to see. It was a long working day with little break, plus was expected to stay past working hours rather than requested. It could be a great place if things were improved, but if you don't care about these things and just want to earn a wage then it would be fine.
There were some benefits such as the Christmas parties and going to see the cricket, but i felt the job wasn't worth this in the end.

When I joined this place it wasn't what it is today. Communication was practically non-existent, morale was dull, but don't get me wrong it still had it's perks. 

In time the company has flourished. With a welfare officer onsite for our needs, whether they be work related or not. An MD with the aim to make everybody as content and happy as they can possibly be when here. The generosity of events that take place. Most departments are a pleasure to be in now. Nothing is perfect, it has it's flaws, as all places do. 

Perks are competitive but in terms of pay, holiday, flexible working, there is still room for improvement to be in line with other local companies. 

Overall, I feel lucky to be at a company that respects and supports me so much.  

Pros
- Long term projects and job security
- Relatively relaxed environment, compared to other companies in the industry (or so I hear)
- Work hours may be somewhat flexible, depending on team
- 9/80 schedule (some weeks)
Cons
- Very bureaucratic (as expected)
- Seems to have slightly lower pay than other companies in the industry
- Poor project planning
- If you're not in management, you'll only be able to speculate as to what's actually going on
Advice to Management
I'd say - cut out the BS and just let your teams know what's going on. Overall, I thought it was a good experience and it will definitely be a resume booster. However, I don't see myself working here long-term.

Have been working here for 2 years now and the pace of change in facilities and staff has been very fast. Lots of investment in the company even during 2020. Staff changes has left a work force of positive hard and nice friendly people. Pay rises year on year and now 5 weeks holiday plus many ad hock benefits, Christmas presents, early finish, £50 in a company birthday card. 
Work is production but if you’re willing you will be asked to train in other department. 

Throughout my time at Holroyd I enjoyed a fast paced and collaborative environment. Although working in production is repetitive, both management and the team leaders made every effort to engage and motivate. There were always opportunities to develop and perfect our skills through in house and external training. 
I would say the hardest part of the job would be maintaining the high quality whilst keeping to deadlines and the most enjoyable would be working as a team to achieve our goals. Treating everyone to lunch every month isn't too bad either! 

My first week as a production assistant and have been made to feel very welcome. The company is very busy and most people are doing overtime. The management and even the owner are in production helping out! Learning new things each day and my work colleagues are helpful and attentive. 
Very strict Covid rules in and out of the company. 
Just learning about the extra benefits of the company but all seems good so far. 

Although there are some good workers the management is really poor. There is little chance to grow in the company and a lot of competitiveness. They overload some of the workers whilst others can get away doing little or less. Management is poor and lack of communication between team leaders. They have less and less perks each year and always an excuse to cut on the bonus when the work is too fast paced and lack of material and too much pressure. Not enough training unless they urgently need it. 

I have work at holroyd for over 10 years and still find it a great place to work. everyone here seems to ejoy their work. ive personally seen the compony grow from about 20 people to over 100 people and with equipment and machinery getting better and holroyd forever expanding i feel its a job with security, which in the current situation is hard to find. 

I have been working at Holroyd for nearly eight years and have seen continual development of the company within this time. There has been good opportunities for progression since I started. The work is fast paced and the team work is good. The staff perks such a company outings, Christmas/Summer parties & free lunch once a month are excellent. The working hours are great and the 2pm finish on a Friday in a particularly nice benefit.
