A typical day in an office based role, can vary due to lack of organisation, (even before COVID) and nurses and HCA's could have their shift cancelled at a few hours notice, (and then forced to take the time as annual leave). In the support teams, typically, you may be cancelling patient operations or booking them and dealing with the problems and upset that this brings to patients and caregivers.
There is a culture of blame and if you have fresh ideas, nobody wants to listen, as there is a deep rooted resistance to change of any kind. There is a distinct lack of diversity throughout the organisation and an overall lack of interest in improving this.
There are internal promotions, which could be seen as a good thing, but no additional training is given, frequently leading to 'out of depth' middle management and a cascade of stress and demoralisation.

I recently worked at the Horder Centre in Crowborough. The staff are really lovely & everyone is helpful when you are new. HR went out of their way to make me feel welcome & my line manager was a lovely person & adopted a supportive & constructive style. You get free meals, free parking & you can sit outside for breaks & get some fresh air amongst the trees. The hospital is clean, modern & you have all the equipment you need to do your job. The only downside to working here is the ridiculous amount of mandatory training, which has been allowed to get totally out of hand. Other than that, l would say Horder is a great place to work where everyone strives to be the best & goes out if their way to help the patients and each other.

There is considerable pressure to perform at a very high standard very quickly, and there are immediate consequences for any error

It is always very busy.  It can be interesting, and it is often quite stressful.

Knowing that you make a difference to service users. Colleagues.

Departmental politics and toxic environment

Can be toxic, depending on which department you work in

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Dealing with queries, resolving issues, liaising with other departments to ensure that the expectations of the patient is met

Fantastic team to work in  , every day is diffrent , meet new people daily. Great place for multiple support. Understanding and friendly managers. Good work life balance as will either have the morning or afternoon to do things before and after work. Opportunities to learn new things

Staff take great pride in these values, all patients receive excellent care from their first appointment being booked to being discharged at the end of their treatment.  Unfortunately the values are not often extended to the treatment of staff.

Not enough funding for decent pay however, you gain a wealth of experience due to the fact that you're expected to do more than what is indicated in your role brief.

Awful experience working for one particular person from this company, not nice, talks about staff members in a passive manner. Doesn’t allow you to progress. 

The few  staff who have worked there for years are the ones who make you feel uncomfortable but the younger and ones are nice and make it a nice environment 

Patient centered care is at the heart of the hospital. With free food. Nice facility. Good pay. You can learn a lot at work. Flexible schedule upon request.
