One of the worst I have worked for.

They lie to clients constantly and will not deal with any issues, Head office just do not accept responsibility.

If you have an issue head office will say no that's such and such a team and you get through to them and they say no its someone else and this goes on all day long.

At one time they was not even paying staff the national minimum wage and I had to prove to them that they was not and when it was pointed out they just paid it into staff wages without saying a word.

The building I worked in the senior management team and head office would promise to recitify serious faults with the building ie the heating system and promise the clients it would be sorted and year on year it has not been and people in senior management and head office don't turn up to meetings with clients that they have booked.

I had never been a registered manager with CQC before and had a lot of knowledge and experience but obviously required a certain amount of support but literally I was dumped in the role and saw my manager once every 2 or 3 weeks and she would say she would attend for the day and would only ever be there for half a day.

In terms of staff this was the worst staff team I have ever worked with, Had previously been able to get away with what they liked, Bullying was rife, gossiping and refusal to do their job and anything that was asked of them they felt was over and above their job role even if this was to hoist clients out their beds at the clients request.

Staff would not complete their hours appropriately and senior management had little concern over it even though it was fraud but would all of a sudden take an interest if they was trying to sack someone, One instance was two staff members appeared to have wrote down a later time for a call in order to leave early which is fraud and one staff member (Who they wanted to sack) got into serious trouble over it and the other staff member was not even questioned even though they too signed the document.

Training is the worst I have ever encountered, The whole training programme is based on learning from each other and gettings excersices where you will team up and learn information with or from each other which is great when there are many knowledgable staff but most of the time there is not.

Noone walks out of training and feels empowered to do their job, The training requires massive amounts of work, And now they have introduced a train the trainer programme which means that all staff from seniors to team leaders deliver the training.

Difficult when the majority could not deliver a letter let alone a training session, I had staff that would have training and wrongly interpret her version of it and deliver her wrongly interpreted version of training to a staff team that are now educated to care for clients in the wrong way which is a major health and safety and safeguarding concern.

There is no support and felt I took nothing from this experience other than to never work for the organisation again.

They blank, refuse to spend money on buildings once completed, training, staff progression.

I had staff who were on call on a rota system, These staff were called sometimes an excessive amount of times and at all hours day and night, Staff were off the weekend and was panicking the whole time in case the phone rang, The staff receive not a single penny for having this.

Some staff were obviously great and the buildings are usually very nice but other than that its a massive no go area for me.

I worked here for over two years. I loved it when I first started except for the non stop phone calls to your personal mobile to pick up extra work all the time I was doing about 60 hours a week with hardly a day off and me and my manager sorted out avalibilty and I could work extra if I wished. 0 hour contact so if hours are low there low but they expect you to pick up and work in your days off even though your 0 hours I recently got told I "had" to pick up extra work because I hadn't for a while but that's my choice? I have a life which by the way the don't like you to have. Managers will never cover calls them selfs ever. Clients even get angry as calls are all differ f times of the day which messes up people's medication but they don't care as long as work is coverd. Don't get paid petrol money you can claim nav off the government but they just change your tax code for you nothing back so your losing money not making any. Has really gone down hill these last 6 months wouldn't recommend for people who are 20's and trying to get money together for future. Flexible if you want to work part time and have kids but they wil ask you to work outside your avalibilty even when you've told them a thousand times you can't! They now have work phones that your hours go to these change all the time and can be confusing they still ring you in your personal number all the time never ring the work phone?! Can't speak for every manager as I'm sure some a better than mine but if I turn down work on my day off I get stopped at and made to feel bad even though I have over the years worked weeks straight with out a day off but they don't remember that nor do you ever really get a thanks unles there trying to make you do something. Company not recommended at all!

What is the best part of working at the company?
 I enjoyed working at Robert Smith Court until an incident happened involving the manager and a resident. I worked very hard and got on well with everyone except a couple of residents who seemed to want to make my life difficult who were very thick with the manager. 
I felt very under valued by the manager and wasn't included in any discussions  and some did involve me. I was very helpful too trying to do what I thought was best for the Court and Residents. To actually lose my job over something I didn't see as against their policy I find very mean and hurtful and since leaving I asked to visit people whom I valued and was told I wasn't allowed to enter the premises. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
A couple of nasty residents,accusations about my work being suspended and losing my job over an incident between my manager and myself,, which as a result led to a resident looking out for me as I was in no fit state to drive home, I accepted her offer of coming with me to the local shops to  cheer me up  which resulted in being suspended the following day.

For me was the worst experience in all my years of working

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I had happy days mainly brought about by the majority of the residents. People who entered the building were friendly towards me too

I've been with HC21 since Nov 2016 - since joining, I have been involved in quite a few projects which has massively improved my skills and confidence. I have had great support from my managers and colleagues.

Progression wise - I have been put forward to a management course internally and awaiting my certificate. 

Appraisals and 1 to 1's were valuable as I had the opportunity to have honest and open conversations with my manager regarding things I wanted to get involved in to develop my skills and they have always tried to accommodate when and where it was possible.

I have an amazing team (immediate) and a department as a whole and I would definitely want to progress within.

Our CEO, COO and Directors are very approachable (they even come out every Christmas party and stay out with us) no hierarchy!

When I first joined, I was introduced to the CEO who happily had a conversation with me. 

It is busy, its challenging, I stay later sometimes to catch up on work load... But all jobs have pressures regardless of level!

I can truly say that I am proud to be part of HC21 and the Investors in People - Gold award was definitely well deserved!

If I could give this company zero stars I would. The carers and the senior are lovely but the management are the absolute worst!! There is no support what so ever for the staff, good luck raising any issues or even getting a call back from the office- I have gone days where I have sent multiple emails and made multiple calls, with no one ever getting back to me. But god forbid you miss one call from them, they hound your personal phone constantly to give you extra clients. 
Will rarely take into account your actual availability- instead just putting you down to work when ever they like. Was promised an improvement when the new company took over but in all honesty it's worse than ever now. Definitely do not apply if you have kids as the work hours that are given are ALWAYS evening and weekend, daytime hours are rare to come by unless you start at 6am, but what childcare is available at that time of the morning??! 
You never get paid on the right day and the mileage allowance is worse than any other care company- that's when you can actually get it out of them that is! 
Has completely put me off care work as a whole

What is the best part of working at the company?
You are offered opportunities to progress, however most upper management posts go to the next in line.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Workload, it increases and the poet spirals out of control, while reviews are taking place which can take a very long time. The post holder is left trying to juggle everything to try to keep on top of everything, this is very stressful and can often lead to burn out.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
In my experience, no one wanted to take ownership of mistakes or errors, this led to a blame culture, someone was always hung out to dry.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You hit the ground running, sorting out problems, you mayhave lots of things scheduled for the day, meeting with residents, collecting rent payments, arranging repairs, chairing residents meeting, ensuring all compliance is completed, signing up new tenancies as well as dealing with any issues that arise.

Extremely poor management, very rude co-ordinators and admin staff. NO communication/management skills whatsoever, misrepresentation of the hours from first enquiry over the phone to the interview. Made me wait three weeks for training after the interview. They are a slow company! 

New members of staff did not get catheter care training and a small demonstration of moving and handling without involving the new trainees was pointless, for the trainees still felt confused when sent out in the community. The trainer treated new trainees like children at primary school which was totally laughable. We are adults- give us that much respect. Also if you like wearing makeup or creams on your face on a daily basis, then you are not allowed to do this. 

The office staff and co-ordinators will insult you if you try to voice your opinion at the simplest of matters such as asking for a holiday or stating your preference! They are only good for making themselves cups of tea and having a good old gossip. Very disappointed, total waste of time and effort.

A typical day working for Housing 21 would be to drive to the first client by 7am-7:30am in the morning. You either have a half hour or an hour slot with the client depending on personal requirements. You would then typically work until about 11am. Lunches would then start from 12pm - 2pm. Teas would then start about 4pm until 7pm. Bedtime slots would then start about 7pm until 10:30pm. As you will see days can be long but all shifts are not worked. The longest shift I have done has been 13 hours. I have learnt a great deal whilst working with Housing 21. It has also helped me appreciate how difficult it can be for people. Direct Management are not very good. They very seldom praise a person but always quick to repremand a person. Shifts are also changed at short notice. This does not allow for a social life or plans. My co-workers have all been excellent. The most difficult part of the job is seeing a person who has none or very little quality of life. The most enjoyable part of the job is bringing a smile to the clients.

I have worked for Housing 21 in Warwick for ten months and absolutely love it!  Housing 21 is an outstanding employer - beautiful working environment, good rates of pay for all employees, excellent pension scheme, annual leave entitlement, working conditions and training with really good opportunities for career advancement.  In the care team there is a really good mix of duties from administering medication, meal prep, shopping, cleaning and personal care.  Housing 21 encourages all staff to further advance themselves and will support you with NVQ training.  At Warwick we have a positive, can do approach and it's fantastic to see the difference we make to resident's lives.  I've read the negative reviews and can't help but wonder if this is people who just have an axe to grind - it's certainly not the experience I've had and would highly recommend working here!

When you first start you get a good few hours but after a while they will reduce your hours to next to nothing and give them to a new starter so you can not afford to eat let alone pay your bills my wage in the end was 45 pound a week they only contact you when they want something the management may as well not exist for all you see of them you can not afford to travel to training on what you are being paid so you can not work and have no money at all the list is endless they only seem interested in having a high volume of staff on discusting wages and will employ anybody to keep these numbers up now good on the clients who constantly complain of the amount of different carers they get no continually so many mistakes are made stay clear discusting company to work for the worst I ever have they will soon be known as sanctuary 21 although like can not speak for the sanctuary part the 21 will remain the same
