The job itself was ok, the members of public and clients we good.  There was just no real training form within department from the management side, it was done from colleagues from other sections.  The managers favourite saying 'just make the job your own'.  Not bad if you know what your supposed to be doing in the first place.

Its not surprising they have lost 2 assistant managers and a head porter in the last 18 months.  Manager out of their depth and in a position not due to talent but no one else wanting the job.  Only push agenda's to help family members retain positions within the company.

Doesn't know how to talk to, motivate or train staff.  Staff disenchanted, but not willing to say anything as they are close to retirement or just joined the department and want a quiet life.

Doesn't know how to talk to clients.  A lot of stall holders are quite unhappy with the way things are dealt with within the department, but they have no where to go for help or advise. 

A typical day would start with rollcall in the groundcare office,learning which team i would be working with that particular day.Once organised we would collect all relevant equipment,load up the assigned van,and depart from the main yard to our place of work.Any required health and safety measures would be displayed before the team being assigned to our personal duties.Once the task was completed we would gather all equipment onto the vehicle and move on to our next site,whenever we had a break we would all liaise either at the van or in the designated mess room.At the end of the day we would drive back to the yard,unload all out equipment,park the van in  the relevant bay,and meet once again in the office before leaving for home.

Very much a team focused job, everyone chips in(almost). Collecting waste of different types with other waste crews and within your own crew around several small nice clean towns. 
Well managed and as safe as can be while working on a busy road. management and staff are easy to talk too. All workplace rules/safety are followed you will never be asked to do something you shouldn't or put at unnecessary risk. lots of company benefits. Do your job well and you will no problems, i didn't for 7 years.
Can be difficult at times, over xmas, dealing with some members of the public and all weathers.
Great in summers thou, keeps you fit and good lads to work with.

Fabulous place to work despite funding cuts to local government.  An organisation that cares about its staff.  Great, friendly people.  Flexible working which helps a lot and makes everyone more productive.

Compared to a lot of places, Hyndburn Borough Council is a great place to work.  They try to treat people fairly and understand that this is the best way to get good performance.  Supportive when people go through difficult events like bereavement.

Working here has allowed me to understand the different elements of what goes into a planning application and how it is monitored. It has also shown me the amount of work goes into creating documents and the different software they use.

Junior managers in senior manager roles not understanding employment law and understanding of being a good manager. 
Minimal risk assessments and very little knowledge of how to complete 

I left the company and was above board with giving notice for which they proceeded to punish me by not paying my last wages the work isn’t terrible but expect to do most of the undesirable work poor management 

Loved working here, I would go back in a heartbeat. Good hours, good job, Flexi is great, management is friendly. Only negative is some staff who have a negative mindset which can bring the team down 

People who grumble should try working somewhere else.  It's a really great environment where people are supported.  Hard work but rewarding.  Would definitely work here again if the right job came up
