I have worked for IOSH for over 8 years and I have progressed from being an admin temp, full time administrator, senior admin, Team Leader and now Manager. Not all my experiences have been great at IOSH, previous managers have not valued my commitment to the organisation and didn’t show any support for my personal progression. I cannot say this is the case now and has been for the last 3 years. The new Senior Leadership team believe in their teams and provide support and clarity on what we are here to do as an organisation. We are encouraged to embed the IOSH values and behaviours into our working life to encourage a respectful working environment. There are rules that we follow as an organisation just like any other. Reading the bad reviews on IOSH have left me feeling disappointed. IOSH is not a bad place to work, IOSH is improving and is investing into the staff’s personal development. Yes, IOSH has changed but I personally believe for the better. My attitude and work ethic have been recognised by the new management team. The CEO of IOSH is very supportive and values everybody within the organisation. Change is inevitable so if you want to transform and grow with the organisation and gain some experience and personal achievement then IOSH is a great place to work.

So far the whole experience has been extremely positive.  You can clearly see alot of change has happened and the organisation is leaping forwards.  Interview process was slick, efficient and great contact throughout. On-boarding was good, meeting all departments and getting to know the head office site. Impressed by the friendliness of everyone and a real team vibe across the business. IT kit is great and meant no restrictions on working, even through Covid-19.
If i compare to how well staff have been looked after compared to other companies, its polar opposites, IOSH i an excellent example of how to look after staff especially during challenging times.
Had full support throughout so far and long may it continue.

If you want to work somewhere where you are valued, supported and looked after, where you can influence future progression and shape of the organisation, then you need to apply to IOSH.

Starting during a global pandemic has been odd, but IOSH have been wonderful in getting me set up. I've got great IT equipment to be able to do my job, my team has been friendly and inclusive, and my manager has taken extra care to ensure I am comfortable, know what I am doing, and that I have space to learn.

The People (HR) Team set everything up for me so I could hit the ground running on day one, with lots of meetings to meet colleagues on Zoom. The Management hold regular update meetings and do not shy away from answering difficult questions. There is a good workplace culture allowing for flexibility, and obviously (!) health and safety including mental health and wellbeing is a top priority.

The hardest part of the job has been getting to grips with the niche governance structure at IOSH. The most enjoyable part is definitely working in a charity with core values, which is more important than ever given the current situation.

IOSH is not the company it was a few years ago, and it has evolved into a more efficient, ambitious and productive organisation to work for. Through the changes that have been afoot over the last couple of years, it's never lost that warmth and friendliness that I think really sells IOSH as an employer.

Having worked in a variety of roles in my time here, there are opportunities for development and advancement for those willing to work hard and seek them out.

The new senior leadership team has been a breath of fresh air. With a willingness to be open and transparent, and a far friendly and more approachable 'way' about them, it feels like they truly listen and understand everyone's contributions.

It's not for everyone - you're expected to work hard and at a fairly quick pace. But for those wanting to join somewhere you can truly make an impact whilst working alongside friendly and hardworking colleagues, then you will thrive here.

The onboarding process at IOSH was meticulously planned and flawlessly executed. The HR team went above and beyond to ensure that I had all the necessary information, resources, and support to seamlessly transition into my new role. From providing a comprehensive welcome package to organizing engaging orientation sessions, they truly set the tone for a warm and inclusive work environment.
What impressed me the most during my onboarding was the genuine sense of camaraderie and teamwork among my colleagues. It made the process of integrating into the team much smoother and accelerated my learning curve.
In terms of professional development, IOSH truly shines. The organisation fosters a culture of continuous learning and growth. 
The organisation's commitment to employee well-being, professional growth, and fostering a positive work environment is truly commendable. I am grateful to be a part of such a remarkable team and look forward to contributing my skills and expertise towards the success of IOSH.

The reason I was able to get a job here was simple, IOSH doesn't practice what it preaches, it is a truly terrible employer, and no-one lasts very long, so the conveyor belt of people in and out is incredible!
There is endemic work place bullying which is positively encouraged from the top, frequent and unfair restructuring and a massive churn of staff. 
Numerous staff have apparently taken IOSH to court for unfair dismissal which IOSH regularly and casually deals with pay outs which are calculated to be cheaper than redundancies, it seems company policy.
Businesses often say that their workforce is their greatest strength but here they are hired, abused and forced out the door with alarming frequency. A couple of staff leave every month, for such a small employer it is incredible and apparently has been the same for 10 years!
I would recommend that you don't put yourself through the meat grinder of working here as it won't be for long!

Wow, some tough reviews from people with a grudge? The leadership began changing 5 years ago and the new CEO who joined 2 years ago has accelerated that with a clear vision, values and behaviours that recognise respect, delivery, integrity and teamwork and importantly, delivery for our customers. Some people have struggled to adapt to the kind of pace and expectations that most employees take for granted and are probably confusing clear leadership and zero tolerance for disruptive behaviour as “bullying”. Hopefully they find greener grass elsewhere and let those of us who want to put in an honest shift for good reward and recognition get on with it but I doubt it. This is a great place to work if you are customer focused, value being part of a diverse team and thrive on delivering good quality work that serves a fantastic purpose

I worked for IOSH for more than 18 years and had some very happy times. However, the top level of management in some directorates lost the plot when covid hit, and everyone had to work from home. The lack of interest became all too apparent when they never made contact with their teams to find out just how they were feeling, if everything was ok etc. Not very good for a global reaching health and safety company that outwardly promotes a culture of caring about the worker, but inwardly could not care less about it's own employees.
I enjoyed my job but felt I had no choice but to leave as the amount of stress and pressure that was being constantly applied was unsustainable for anyone that values their sanity, and a newer manager in the directorate was allowed to bully the staff with no repercussions!. If I had not left, I would most likely have had a nervous breakdown.
A very sad ending to a job that I really cared about......

This organisation does not value it’s staff. Most Managers/Team Leaders are busy watching their own backs so do not expect help or support from them- they will thoroughly mis-represent you to meet their own goals.
IOSH outwardly promotes health and wellbeing but internally does NOT practice what it preaches. It is led by a pompous and self-satisfying Board of Trustees and an ambitious CEO who does not realise that there is no ‘I’ in team and a Senior leadership team that think they are equivalent to ‘Apple’ management and have yet to produce anything of any worth.  Led by this team IOSH has lost its way, far from ‘putting itself on the map’ it has begun to fade.  Its new Management model is about restructure, restructure, restructure and employees be damned, putting staff under continuous pressure and uncertainty.
IOSH is no stranger to employment disputes. 
Not the place to go for interview if you are over 35.

If you value your career , have self respect and want to remain mentally healthy don’t even bother going for an interview. 
There are no career prospects or opportunities for progression.
The SLT allow the staff to be abused by members,  without repercussion. Bullying is rife. Staff are bullies and bullied. Members are bullied and are bullies. Everyone’s fair game. You best know how to stick up for yourself else you’ll be roasted.
The Organisation is lead by the Trustees Board that even the members can’t stand. The chairman is arrogant and pompous 
People are leaving on a weekly basis. Very unhappy people
Pay is below what it should be and you’re expected to work all hours . You work at a much higher level but the pay and grade doesn’t match. 
Oh and don’t bother with the 5 star reviews . Staff are asked to write them to boast the ratings. Just so you know.
