I worked for the security company who manned the site, previous to that i had worked in building maintenance.

IQ hired me from the security company (along with another gaurd) without informing them and instructing us to keep it quiet until thw very last moment. This had a negative effect on all parties except IQ.

Then after being informed i would be in charge over the 2 man team to get the work done how i see fit. Management changed.

We were then micro managed to the point it was impossible to complete the work. This is when they had fired the previous maintenace weeks / months before hand during the summer changeover. Work load was impossible, only made insanely more difficult by shoddy management.

Before my first two weeks of new management was over i knew working for IQ was not an opition. I had about one week left on my probation period which included a one weeks notice.. so i took advantage of that clause.
I dont make many smart choices but that was defo one. Im a happy boy now with excellent management and not surrounded by incompetence all day. Zero stars!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Signing in visitors and contractors to site 
Answering email enquiries 
Face to face contact with students requesting services or needing help
Logging maintenance requests and coordinating with maintenance and housekeeping teams
Showing students around site and helping with bookings 
Chasing and processing rent payments

I used to really enjoy working for this company but that all changed when a new cluster manager was employed. The work place rapidly became really toxic and unprofessional. People were manipulated and gaslit to cover incompetence and there was often conversations regarding other members of staff behind their backs. Staff are belittled and made to feel inferior. The job is fast paced and you meet some really nice students. There are also some really great team members.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Maintaining the Students Accommodation Blocks ready for the new Students Year.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Rushing to complete all relevant tasks with the building maintenance.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good however stressful at times due to tight deadlines.

Been here for a little while now and I’ve enjoyed it as much as when I first joined. 

Great company culture where they do believe in looking after staff. Open to feedback and the promote learning and development in many levels.

Easy going company with a great ambition. The work can be fast paced and at points of the year stressful especially in summer.

No communication about any contractors coming, or any team member off.

The worst management I’ve ever came across. I was belittled on a daily basis and was constantly reassured ‘that’s your job not mine’, when asking for simple advice and my job role didn’t entail what was being asked of me. Felt sick going into work having to deal with passive aggressive emails and angry managers over the most ridiculous situations. Didn’t feel going to HR was going to stay confidential or help the scenario. Would not advise to work for this company.

The job is secure and lovely with the chance of promotions, but unskilled people can ruin it. There is no real communication between site teams and head office or regional managers. Only the site manager is linked to the higher managment and it’s a matter of luck if you get a good one (team-player, hard working and fair manager) or a bad one (coming late & leaving early, not appreciating or supporting the site team, poor managment over all etc.). 

Office environment is friendly, open and genuine. The team work like a little family, and everyone pulls together when the time calls for it. Management is understanding, and displays a very warm and 'human' element toward staff. 
Really enjoy my time working here, really inviting, stable and interesting role.

Great experience

Manager never in(led to poor experience for students), regional manager was in Manchester (didn't care or listen), all jobs delacated to lower members of staff,poor pay, place falling apart, unhappy students,not enough staff.
