Johnsons-the-Cleaners

A typical day was 8.30-9am start finishing 5-5.30pm.
The day would consist of serving customer and receiving clothes in for cleaning, shoes and clothes for repair, key cutting, retail sales. I had to sell the Priority Club and Supercrease products to customers to reach our store target and improve turnover.
The role involved using the dry cleaning machine and keeping on top of the maintenance.
I was in control of ordering stock for sale, and stock for the business use.
Varying on a rota basis week to week, I had to do stock takes on the retail, stock takes on business use items and stock take on hanging stock (customer orders), I was also in charge of the stores admin and daily paperwork.
I loved working within the team, we were a small group and so got on extremely well, but there were also times when I was running the shop on my own and had to manage time more efficiently in order to get everything done.
I enjoyed every aspect of the role, especially my co-workers and the customers. It was quite fast paced at times and I had to think on my feet.
My hardest part of the job for me was purely the distance from home as the pay was poor and didn't reflect the amount of work which had to be done.
My line manager was new to the company and was in a designate position, I feel she was trying too hard to prove herself and managed to upset a few people along the way, including myself, but I just got on with it and carried on.

There are many different aspects involved in working at Johnson's including assisting in different areas in the whole workplace if required and working and performing as an effective team or independantly to meet deadlines and requirements as there is variably very challenging aspects regularly required to the job specification. I have built many skills during my time there which I believe has given me a key insight into employee commitments and job requirements and i have developed the key ingrediants to performing outstandingly in the work place

washing ironing pressing serving cash handling i learned how to do dry cleaning in the machine removing stains pressing suits and all aspects of a dry cleaning business good team to work with fair to work for nothing hard once you are trained putting what i was taught imto practice.

worked as a part time van driver I wished I had never left smashing managers at sandiacre, Littleover and burton.

They helped me quite a lot through the bad times job was ok.

good fun and professional place to work, unfortunately was made redundent due to the effects of coronavirus on the buisness ie:customer decline in shops due to pandemic

found area where working hot at times, but enjoyed working there, friendly staff. hours of work were ok and close to home so easy to commute. frustrating having to retrain new temps cause of the turnover

Building is constantly hot, work schedule is extremely tight with little to no wriggle room. Staff were ok, constantly on rotation as no one got along.
