Juniper-Training

1. Messy Building in one of the worst parts of the city that is rife with drug addicts, Abandoned buildings and alcoholics. What a great place to have students!

2. The company will lie to you at the interview stage to get you into the door. (Be warned as you are only given half of the job role description.)

3. If asked at the interview stage if you drive say no and run away as the next step to this once employed is to have you driving across the country to training centres to sit and listen to the biggest load of rubbish I have ever heard in my life. On one of these days I spent the day drawing pictures of fires and trees before giving a lecture to other new staff members on what dangers a fire poses. (This will continue for weeks on end.) Yes you are paid for fuel but in today's traffic it barely covers the cost and the wear and tear on your vehicle.

4. Management at the head office are in there own world in a plush office with no students playing god with compliance and figures and then smoking cigarettes outside of the head office (Nice!)

5. Some staff are great but I feel sorry for them as they have become trapped within the job with fees for qualifications to do their job and I have witnessed arguments and tears from stressed out staff members.

6. Workload - The workload is unreal with targets and compliance that is simply not achievable if you want to complete your work to a high standard.  When I say unreal I am not putting this lightly.

7. Management within centre appear to not do much and have all the time in the world for a chat when you have all the work in the word with little to no support. I have witnessed management talk to people with no respect such as telling an administrator to change the toilet rolls. Why this cannot be done by the management if they have noticed there is no toilet roll is beyond me.

8. A member of staff informed me within a week of me working for this company that 24 people had been and gone within the last year.

9. I wish I had read the reviews of this company before taking an offer of employment with them I made the mistake of leaving a good career only to be tricked. 

10. The landlord of the building is constantly wandering around the building with his associates as if they have not paid their rent or the company is closing down.

11. The company floods students through the doors because of the money it gets paid from the government for them once in centre  they are treated as a number.

12. Steer well clear this company is a wolf in a sheep's clothing.

It appears Juniper are getting their current staff to enhance their reviews. So I though best I aired my opinion. 

Juniper have an all singing all dancing interview process where they will tell you how wonderful they are and how they will support you in getting your career goals. This is false. Whilst working for Juniper I witnessed staff members get their qualifications, but when wanting to leave had to stay as Juniper said 'oh if you leave you have to pay us otherwise we take your salary'. I watched colleagues who were good at their job break down because of this. 

Another colleague I worked alongside was bullied. The other tutors and performance manager laughed. These tutors and centre lead would hide this colleagues folders then blame the person on 'losing' the file. 

If your face doesn't fit, they will give you all the work in the world to do until you break. I was involved in meetings for hours on end where the performance manager had great pleasure in belittling people in front of other staff members and then spend hours on end moaning in their little glass room with the centre lead. 

The IQA team will tell you they are their to support and help, but will not support and help but will just keep reporting back to senior management, in a non constructive way. 

The staff turnover is so high, and there is evidently a reason for this. As someone mentioned do not tell them you drive. I was shipped across all the centres as I was a driver in what felt like a speed dating 'shadowing' experience. Each 'manager' will review you, look at you and decide if you face fits for their centre. If it doesn't. off you go to the next one. 

You will forever hear the Juniper motto 'I've been a tutor I know how difficult it is'

This company knocked my confidence, and made me doubt myself. If you want to grow and learn steer well clear.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Feeling as part of a team and working towards making a difference for young people by providing a progression pathway for students. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having to cover for unreliable staff who don't turn in and show a lack of passion for their own role. This can cause pressure on the team we then have to try to do several jobs at once. When you work within a good team like it do, we all pull together to get the jobs done that are required eliminating a stressful environment. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I've been with the company now for almost 10 years and have worked within several different centres where I have always been welcomed in and made to feel a part of their team, weather this has been a short term or long term move. I personally feel welcomed in all settings across the company weather this been  training sessions / shadowing or supporting others. The culture within Juniper is very clear and I share their values and belief with the students at the heart of our programmes.   

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy, productive, challenging and rewarding. No two days are ever the same. I go to work to get results and move young people forward and Juniper support me in doing this.

Primarily, my typical working day sees me delivering inspiring and valuable sessions on a number of different skills both academic and work related. Due to the wide range of different abilities and student backgrounds I encounter, I employ a range of different classroom management strategies throughout the day.

The other side to my working day is the planning and management of my students individual qualifications and working documents. Due to the volume of work I manage, organisation is key, and strategies to ensure the completion of my duties has become a focal point of my position, a point that I do effectively. I interact constantly with my co-workers to help manage workloads and exchange information on students and relevant qualifications.

The most enjoyable part of my job is interacting with the vast range of different students I encounter, and ultimately, seeing them achieve as a direct result of my actions.

Working one day a week was difficult as I wasn't kept up-to-date with certain things, left out and found the team to be in a clique and watching me during my job, which made me feel very uncomfortable.  They were constantly "patting" each other on the back and certain ones weren't genuine.  Certain ones were constantly stuffing 'Fat Friday' Food down their gullets so I didn't feel as if I was working in a proper business environment.  Certain ones were talking inappropriately about the students who were registered to Juniper which I felt was unprofessional.  My face certainly didn't fit, found they didn't give me a fair crack of the whip and I left after 7 months as, although I only worked one day a week was told after my '6 months' review that I wasn't 'up to scratch!!'. I wouldn't recommend Juniper, felt I wasn't treated fairly, was left out and wasn't kept informed.  Leaving there has been the best move as I am a genuine, caring, enthusiastic person who doesn't like fake and am now in a job where I am a valued employee.

The worst company I have ever had the displeasure of working for. They are in it to make money from the job centre who refer their clients. The clients themselves are drug addicts,  and ex cons who have been in prison. Lack of teaching resources and equiptment and the worst management full of their own ego and self importance. Their Wolverhampton learning centre...if you can call it that, is situated above a lap dancing club....where men urinate on the stairs which you have to use on a daily basis....their training was a joke, they literally have no clue about education....my advice, stay well clear, work for a school that will treat you fairly and professionally in far, far better surroundings.

Working in education can be challenging & we do it for the love of it. I feel management at Juniper appreciate it can be difficult & provide excellent training & support to allow us to be the best we can. 
I have worked at several places and never experienced communication like Juniper communicate. 

From the start of the recruitment process, to the first day induction & then in depth induction training schedule, including shadowing. All ideas & suggestions are taken on board. 
We would all like more money but in the current climate it is difficult to meet the rate of inflation.
I am happy to be part of the company and hope to continue to grow and progress there. I thank them for a great opportunity. 


Engaging students in work-skills tasks and building on their confidence and team working skills to progression into employment or further Training. Supportive Management who are target driven. Working atmosphere in business driven. Excellent co-working environment supportive and great sense of team work. The hardest part is keeping energy levels up consistently in a demanding role, with 24 hours at week face to face interaction and little time to complete important paper work. Most enjoyable is seeing the students achieve and progress as well as develop along the course.

Juniper expect unachievable results from its staff and continually piles tasks and pressure on staff to achieve. When you don't reach the perfection they want, you are treated poorly and pushed out instead of valued and supported to improve. Consequently there is a massive turnover of staff who choose to leave for their own welfare or get pushed out for not meeting the unachievable high expectations that are all based on profits and income, regardless of learner abilities. Avoid joining Junipers workforce at all costs.

Started off well but it's all a ploy to make you feel like it's a good company. In five months 5 people have left and I am now looking for another job desperately. The mangers are under so much pressure that they do not care for the staff. Targets are higher than when all the old managers were frontline staff so they make it out like it's easy? No support just wasteful trips to there head office to read off powerpoints about sales techniques. All staff are miserable and only the ones trapped by the fact they have to pay back qualification charges stay. Awful company and awful management!
