- Kane promises salaries that can rarely be reached - ensuring you are loaded correctly between specific weights is part of the weekly salary basis. This would be fine if the equipment on the truck were accurate - it rarely is. so achieving that bonus is nearly impossible.

- Kane makes all drivers fix punctures and change their own tyres at the side of the road (by themselves). Given that much of their tipper work is in quarry / landfills, punctures are a regular, everyday occurrence. so get very used to it.. fixing 6 punctures on your truck in a single day is not unheard of there

- When there isn't enough work to keep all the drivers on the road (another regular occurrence) drivers are put on 'Yard work'; Cleaning all the trucks, sweeping, but most of all looking busy, and doing little of substance until the day ends. those days feel like an eternity.
If you are 'caught' without a broom, etc. in your hand you'll be reprimanded - it feels like being a child at school.

- There is a reason why their driver churn rate is so high and they are constantly hiring... Because it's the worst place to work for any qualified HGV driver.

- the management is easily the worst I've encountered in this industry.


I done a year at kane haulage and enjoyed it, it was a learning process from start to end and a good introduction into lorry driving.
They teach you how to maintain the truck how to drive an have a relaxed attitude and will tell you where your going wrong if you make mistakes such as infringements; Which helps you out in the early days so its not too overwhelming. you will drive on all types of terrain as they're a truly offroad vehicle and are fully kitted out to help you deal with it. You will start at around 6am do your checks and then leave the yard around 6:30am to do your work. The transport manager expects regular communication and to be kept in the loop throughout your day. If you do happen to get a flat tyre that is "unpluggable/unfixable" you will have to change your own wheel and full training is given or another driver will come and assist you - this is made very clear in the interview process and is never a nasty surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at kanes I was never underpaid or felt undervalued. I would definatly come back they're a great group of people. Thanks kane.

This is without a doubt the worst company I’ve ever been employed at. The 2 donuts in the office have no clue what they are doing and treat staff like dirt. The rest of the donut management, upstairs, are just as bad. The pay scheme they run for drivers is designed to take money from your wadges without even explaining why it went. Weight scales on tippers are not calibrated correct so when you think youve 32ton and you weigh it in a tip its + or - 3 ton. They then take as much as £30 from pay. Told pay was £650 pw and id come out with  as little as £300 some weeks, the pay scheme is terrible as you may find out if you decide to work here. Hours are terrible WHEN they get work and if no work....... you’ll be in the yard cleaning trucks, sweeping and changing tyres. You also have to change your own tyres, if flat, while working in the tipper! Overall id definitely say to you NOT to work here! It really is this bad

AND I DONT WORK THERE ANYMORE! Woo hooooo

When I joined kane I was sold the dream, really it was a full on nightmare. Only 1 of the 2 office staff were ok the other speaks to people like dirt and shouts infront of everyone so they can all hear. The pay is made up of bonuses so if you don't hit bonus then your underpaid, this is not the idea of a bonus scheme. Made to change own tyres and work over your time but if your back early you can't leave until 16:20. Your made to feel so low and other drivers can be intimidating. When I left I was owed and promised a weeks holiday which I had worked for but was massively under paid, even tho I wrote a couple of emails going above and beyond explaining my reasons for leaving and they chose to ignore it. And they still wonder why they always need drivers and everyone leaves. This job messed with my mental health please avoid.

Be careful, they make you work every Saturday, fire you if you don't comply not putting your digi card in on your non driving Saturday. You have to change your own tyres when they wear out, puncture etc. Then you have to replace the spare in the morning. The business cuts back on EVERYTHING. These are all signs that the company see you as less important than anything else in the business. The best way to explain is they still live in a time where there were less jobs than drivers, this has changed in the last 10-12 years and now they are battling to find new blood to run this machine. I give this business 3 years and they will downsize or sell

Busy and time goes by fast simple instructions on paper only complaint is that not all other drivers are friendly and I don’t know why that is and it’s a shame I liked it there but I only worked for a shot time.

When things are not so clear such as getting vehicle LGW loaded gross weight.

No clue poorly run never seen anything like it . Massive turn over of staff at 12 weeks was a old hand lol . Money was ok hours too long badly run loads of waiting around then everything to be done last minute . Overtime not paid horror story's from everyone I meet . Glad I got out  and don't let the interview fool you it's not as good as he made it sound . The boss made the best sales pitch ever i really was looking forward it but it was rubbish working on clapped old vans and fixing them on a shoe string lol .

A good company to work for all brand new machines every 3 years you're never laid off you keep you going all the time the checks in the mail every week he has a demolition company is Gaywood if you're not running machine in the winter it'll be due on the soft stripping demolition to keep you busy if you want pretty good company I've been there 13years

If you like a challenge,it is rewarding.I met a lot of good drivers also some not so good.When its busy there is a lot of miles to drive.The company could do with a fleet update as the newest tippers are 69 registration.
Overall I had a good time there and got along with most people.
